Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Is there any pattern to it, like a word changing plugin?
Might also throw a grammar notifier their way if you haven't already. That way they're aware of the issue (or at least can't claim they weren't).
The only pattern is that they're the kind of changes someone would make if they are not fluent in English. For instance, they changed "barebones DVD" to "subdued DVD"(???), "registered a blip" to "registered a spot", and "nature of the entertainment industry" to "quality of the entertainment industry". Maybe they're using a translation plugin?
I've sent a grammar notifier their way.
Edited by thelivingtoadI just checked through their edit history and it's much of the same. Lots of edits that don't add any additional examples, but instead change words to synonyms even if they don't really make sense there, including in the trope descriptions.
I shot a notifier their way, let's see if it does anything.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessRequest reverts?
Keet cleanupThey've continued to make these kinds of edits after my and WarJay777's notifiers: Specifically, they've made an edit to Fiery Redhead in which they change "baby face" to "younger face", which doesn't mean anything in that context.
Edited by thelivingtoadI've suspended them; this needs to be nipped in the bud. Go ahead and revert any such edits that didn't fix anything on those pages.
I reverted as many of those edits as I could do, but most of their edit history is rife with grammar problems.
I'm cleaning up more of their edits. On top of the reports above, they've also been Bowdlerizing in spots and changing American to Commonwealth spellings for no obvious reason.
Edit: They also keep removing red links (to media which don't currently have pages), leaving no-links in their place.
Edited by TarlonnielMods, can you please revert Western Animation? They uncommented a whole slew of zero context examples without adding context. I can re-add the two edits made since then.
^ Done; I replaced those two edits.
Thanks. Clean-up should be done now, guess we can lock this.
I'd prefer to leave it open for a little while, so we have a thread to use if they decide to ban evade. It's a plausible fear.

The user alalahoward99 has been changing words around on the Breakaway Pop Hit pages to things that don't really make any grammatical sense. (For instance, the phrase "tacked onto the soundtrack" was changed to "aimed onto the soundtrack", "turgid" was changed to "tumid", "god" to "inmortal" (sic) and some other words were changed to other synonyms for no real reason). They've also removed several links to pages like Alanis Morissette. None of their edits have edit reasons, and I've noticed similar issues with their other edits. On the main Breakaway Pop Hit page, they've changed every instance of "add" to "count", even when it doesn't make sense to do so. I've fixed some of the changes on the Live Action Film subpage, but some of the other pages in their edit history may need to be looked at too.
