If it's your fanfic, you'll also want to see The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours. (Alternately, if it's not yours, but you expect the author(s) to participate in troping their own work, they'll be the one(s) who need to read that.)

Compared to every other single media format, Fan Fic has more Creators coming here to create work pages based on their works. It's so common, we named the policy page after that medium. Since many sites forbid self-promotion (including us), people may be inclined to say "I Have This Friend" instead of admitting ownership in case they would get in trouble for self-promotion. I think we handle the idea of Creators adding tropes fairly, and it's good to remind people of the related rules. Someone chiming in to talk about Cross Wicking would also be appropriate right about now.
