Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

Well, a frequent problem of the old design is that you could the second style to shoehorn YMMV things into trope descriptions. For example:
- (adaptation trope): So much that They Changed It, Now It Sucks!. (which is wrong; a change in an adaptation is an objetive thing, if it sucks or not is an audience reaction, the trope should just describe which is the change)
There are some legitimate times when you may want to link YMMV items in articles, such as in-universe audience reactions, but in most cases they should be removed.
Ultimate Secret WarsSomething I often see in trope descriptions is "According to Word of God, yadda yadda yadda." Is this acceptable if a trope (such as for a character) was established by Word of God?
Keet cleanupPotholes to Audience Reactions are usually undesirable editorializing. To Trivia, I think they would be OK although I am not sure that "According to Word of God, yadda yadda yadda" examples are fine; if something does not appear in the work instead being only known through Word of God it probably should not be on the work page.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYou can hide those symbols by including [invoked] in the line somewhere. Just be aware that using that to cheat the system is frowned upon.
If there is a "According to Word of God, yadda yadda yadda", the trope should say simply "yadda yadda yadda", and the word of God explained in the trivia page.
Tropes themselves, the ones in the work page, should be self evident by just watching the work and perhaps other related works, and no knowledge about the real-world context of its creations should be needed. If the author intended to use a trope but failed to actually do so (because of network interference, unavailable characters, change of plans, or whatever), this should be maerial for the trivia page.
Ultimate Secret WarsDoes that mean, for instance, that the character section of a manly character who was established as gay through Word of Gay shouldn't include Manly Gay?
Keet cleanup
Prior to the update, when someone lists down something like Word of God in an article other than its proper page, the trope's bullet would be replaced with a symbol indicating it's in the wrong place. It generally showed up when the improper trope was the very first trope listed in a line. It would appear in lines like these for example:
It however didn't when the trope wasn't the first trope in the line. It wouldn't appear in lines like these:
Since the update, this has all been changed with the markers in particular now appearing in the middle of sentences. It's rather disruptive to look at. Examples of this can be found in the Indiana Jones character page.
Are there plans to change it back? If not, are there any new rules I should be aware of related to this?
Sorry for the questions. I'm not up to date on the progress of the update. Thank you in advance.
