This war is still going on? Why do people care about this stuff so much?

It hasn't been that bad here at least. Well, until now.

Mack is not here to make sure the tropes are "correct". He is well known in the fandom for being anti-Seddie and anti-Sam Puckett. We are tired of being slandered on the YMMV page and our edits being constantly reverted. His purpose here is to promote his ship.

Sure mack. Hey Confession0791...Put Sam and Freddie back in. They do qualify. And mack. Quit taking it out. Your explanation doesnt fly. You claim both Carly and Freddie want to be with each other. Why arent they? Huh? Oh yeah. The storyline blocks it. The storyline blocks Sam and Freddie from getting together i guess than huh?

Sam and Freddie have UST.

Confession0791 and I are trying to make it unbiased where as mack and his friends are trying to make it bias in favor of Carly and Freddie. Sam Puckett loves Freddie Benson. That was established in iOMG.

I've pulled the contested entry and placed in the discussion page.

You aren't supposed to "fix" the removal of a contested entry. You're supposed to discuss it. Re-adding and re-removing stuff both qualify as edit warring, which is a bannable offense.

well it's now on the discussion page. So thank you for pulling it. Hopefully we can settle this. I only want whats best for the icarly page. And the amount of hate for the character Sam Puckett is horrible.

If this continues to be a problem post here again. I'm not above dropping the banhammer on people who Edit War over their ships.

Copied from my response on trope repairs:

In the interest of moderation I took a look at the episode and a brief glance over at the page. A couple things:

  • 1) First and foremost, I'd say that is UST, especially if the series continues with it, even it it's retroactive UST. The only point you might be able to argue, though not one I'd suggest, is how long the series has been showing it or whether it's entirely retroactive - and from what I know of the series I'd say it's definitely not entirely retroactive.
  • 2) The page isn't as biased as I expected from the comments, though I did only do a once over. However, there is a thing or two I would change: for example, regardless of what your position is on the ship, that's not what Ass Pull means and if no one gives me a decent reason not to I'm going to delete that particular entry (the only reason I'm not doing it immediately is because of the Edit War shenanigans going on).
  • 3) Maybe the ideal is to put the editing of this and entries about the character romances to someone who both watches the show and doesn't have a serious opinion either way, so maybe you guys need a third party.

Continue to war and the page will probably get locked and both of you will probably get banned, so I'd suggest a compromise either way.

Also, damn was that fire extinguisher gag funny.

for the record, i've taken a few of the contested entries (it's not just the UST example) to the discussion page, though i haven't changed anything myself because i don't want to encourage edit warring. please check that out if you're unsure where this claim of "bias" lays, and state your opinion, whichever way it goes.

  • note: i also took the icarly examples to the discussion page @ Fan-Preferred Couple and Official Couple. just FYI, so it doesn't get left out in case the end decision is to correct/delete.

bumping, 'cause we seem to be making some progress. the UST example is still hanging as of today, though. there have been pro and con arguments over at the show's discussion page. Known Unknown, when you say it is UST, do you mean that as it was originally on the page (freddie/carly, no other ship) or the opposite? (i assume from your comment about the fire extinguisher that the episode you saw was iOMG, which leaned more in the opposite direction, which is why i'm asking).

also, i don't quite get the "entirely retroactive" UST idea. (sorry, i'm a little slow today). i take it you mean whether the UST has been there from the very beginning or not, right? (it... really shouldn't matter for the trope, does that really need to be specified? we would never agree, i think, and it would lead right back to edit warring).

and lastly: calling more attention to the Fan-Preferred Couple and Official Couple icarly examples. could use more input on the respective discussion pages.
