I agree. I don't see the point of sorting by author.
It's especially confusing as a decision when it's a single author under that category, sometimes just a single work by that author.

I don't like the soft split, either. It leads to confusion and duplication. I'd much prefer any workless author examples to get sorted in the list. Vonnegut example goes at the bottom since there's no single work.

Ah shoot, I did this to Short Story. Though, to be fair it was already having author's works grouped together on that page.

I would say they should be case by case. Maybe some of them make more sense to soft split this way.
So something I've noticed on a few different trope pages, most recently Techno Dystopia, that the Literature examples are sorted in two different ways: by author, with there being a handful of entries by different authors, and then by work, with all other entries being under this category. I don't see this on all trope pages and was wondering if this is correct or if it should be changed.
