Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
The link to your PM doesn't work. Either way, you shouldn't be linking direct conversations with other tropers; it's against the rules.
EDIT: I'm not too familiar with DCAU Superman so I can't speak about the changes, but I will say that "As mentioned above in Adaptational Angst Upgrade" is natter and should be removed.
Edited by ArctimonAgree, the series pretty proudly wears its post-crisis inspirations on its sleeve, and most of the 'changes' listed here have precedence in the post-Man of Steel take on Superman. I'd say remove it.
I'll note that I've had my own strange PM interactions with Thetropemaster101 that got taken to ATT, wherein they requested that I make some changes to a page (especially strange since it wasn't locked and they weren't edit banned) via a custom notifier about an edit on a completely unrelated page. This was a long time ago, though.
Edited by Dirtyblue929Never seen any DCAU stuff, so I can't comment on the content, but I cleaned up the natter that Arctimon pointed out.
Vehicle Based Characterization | Grief Induced Split | Locker MailI asked this question over at Is this an example? and some users believe that some of the examples Tropemaster brought up don't qualify because Adaptational Personality Change applies only for really drastic personality changes.
For example, APC doesn't apply to DCAU Superman just because he is "idealistic, but grounded", while comic book Superman is just "idealistic". APC becomes less effective for long-running characters whose personalities have fluctuated over the decades.
They've been sending messages to multiple people (not just the creator of this thread) despite being told to stop doing that the last time they were suspended. Since they blew their final chance, they've been bounced.
Edit: Also, for future reference, the PM link in the OP doesn't work for mods either, so I couldn't use it to look into this. The tool we use is separate from the inbox.
Edited by GastonRabbit Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. If it's okay with you, I will remove APC and Adaptational Angst Upgrade from the page. As I stated before, despite his trademark idealism, Superman is no stranger to angst and has struggled with serious emotional problems throughout his publication history.
In fact, this whole APC/AAU nonsense just feels like an overly contrived way to say "Superman is different (but not really) from his comic book counterpart".
Thetropemaster101 has sent me a message about most recent edits for the character page for the Superman from the DC Animated Universe, and honestly, I have no idea what's he trying to do here.
He is very obsessed with explaining how different DCAU Superman is to his comic book counterpart, but his edits feel gratuitous at best, downright irrelevant at worst. What do I mean with this?
Superman's characterization has been all over the place in the comics, particularly in his identity as Clark Kent, but Tropemaster seems to think that the DCAU presents radical changes to Superman's portrayal.
I don't know. Maybe I'm just being too harsh on Tropemaster but I don't want this page to look like it's talking down to readers by explaining in excruciating detail how DCAU Superman is different from the Superman from the modern comics.
So, what do you think?
