If something like this is used for worldbuilding, you've got a Cryptic Background Reference. Overlap is possible, especially if you're dealing with Bathos and/or Dramedy - one of my favorite Magic The Gathering card flavor texts is a good example (akki are the goblins of this plane of the multiverse):
The part about the setting being dotted with caches of ancient items of power is one of the Story Breadcrumbs introducing the set's story arc, The Three Days of Fun are left unelaborated.

In Outer Wilds, Feldspar is stated in a museum exhibit to have been the "first Hearthian to be intentionally launched into space", the joke being that someone felt the need to specify "intentionally". Is there a trope other than Noodle Incident that this fits?
