Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. That sounds about right. It just got more pronounced.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.I actually would prefer dedicated supports rather than "everyone can marry everyone"
Leo's map was giving me a lot of trouble between trying to work my way around the respawning Faceless and Owain Odin and Niles, so eventually I just had Silas run up to him and stab him in the face.
I liked Awakening and Fates giving most units more S-rank options, because I like reading all the supports and, in Fates case, playing around with secondary classes.
Camilla as a Basara and a Swordmaster was so fun to watch. Though Basaras in general are pretty fun to look at, especially their spear jump and back flop.
The "Everyone can marry everyone" thing was fun in Awakening but it has already overstayed its welcome. Way too many of the S-Ranks I've seen are just too short and to the point. The epilogues in Blazing Blade worked fine, sometimes less is more. Leave something to the imagination.
Notably I've found the best S-Rank supports are all fan made. Thank you, Unassuming Venusaur.
Someone in a crossover game really has to make a crack at Ylisseans jumping into marriage too soon as cultural thing. (Makes sense for a theocracy.)

Meanwhile, Path of Radiance did both: dedicated Supports and base talks for people without Supports to interact.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.I think you could actually keep the "Everyone can S-rank everyone" aspect IF you made it so they're not jumping straight to marriage.
Just, like, have S-rank be the start of a romantic relationship instead of the flagpole, and leave sappy marriage stuff for their character endings.
That way they're more distinct than a gazillion sudden ring offerings and can feel more like a natural progression from A-rank instead of "Hey, we talked three times/have a single shared interest, let's get hitched".

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! You can really feel the love between Nameless Villager woman and Chrom! Why only the poor mans villager woman Sumia rivals her in such fantastic chemistry!
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Yeah, I believe this is best. We don't want Sturgeon's Law rearing its ugly mug from all those Supports they already have to write.
(meanwhile, a Chrom/F!Robin shipper sips his orange juice)
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.Male Robin sits next to her, smirking to himself as he sips too.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Honestly, maybe it's because the pairings I usually went with took a while to get from A to S, but I never felt the proposals were "rushed."
If future games plan to use Partner Seals or something equivalent, I would want each character to have as many S-rank options as possible, if only to see what sort of combinations I can get. Then again, I like most of the support conversations from Awakening and Fates, so I'm probably more optimistic about supports than other people on this thread.
Speaking of marriages, the one possible pairing in the entire series that surprised me the most was Roy x Cecilia in Binding Blade. I mean, I expected Lilina due to the childhood friend thing and Shanna due to her being a pegasus knight. Larum and Sue I kind of expected, mostly because Roy's father could've gotten together with a dancer or a Sacaen. Sophia was one I didn't quite expect, though I probably should've seen it in hindsight.
But I remember reading the endings, then finding the one where Cecilia has an A-rank support with Roy. I did a double-take and thought "Wait, did I read that right?"

Actually, quick question about Robin x Chrom. In the event where Chrom has to get married and proposes to the woman he has the highest affinity with, and that woman is -you-, are you allowed to turn him down? XD
Not that it matters, since Sully's always gonna have that man locked down in any of my playthroughs.
I think if the Avatar isn't married to anyone else, then Chrom and her will be automatically hitched. Not sure though; I always make sure Chrom has an S-rank support before the final fight of the first arc.
You can get trapped into marrying Chrom, yes.
It's the greatest danger of playing as female Robin and not having either Chrom or Robin hitched by Chapter 11.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Umm, there's no time travel in Genealogy. Those kids grew up the natural way, having their parent die in various horrible ways.
Poetic doesn't even begin to describe how we Sigurd fans felt.
Oh believe, I was on Team Sigurd & it was unbelievably catharsis.

They need more than one writer for that. I still feel like this is the way to go to do supports, but I would like more platonic support while we're at it.
Don't you be judging my OTP!
Er, I mean, yeah, that was weird *cough*
Nope, Chrom Shotgun Wedding you. Have fun

x4 Nope, can't turn him down. The Chrom auto-marriage was the very first S-rank to happen to me in Awakening. It came completely out of left field, since, at that point, Robin only had the highest affinity with him because they'd paired up once or twice (not even a C rank!). Bam, Chrom proposes and Robin eagerly accepts without any input from me.

FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiI know your strikethrough words are a joke, but I assure you I have nothing against Roy x Cecilia. It was just not something I expected to be in there.
Speaking of Chrom and his marriages, whether they do S-ranks for everyone or not I hope they don't pull that Unrequited Tragic Maiden thing again. Don't give me a matchmaking mechanic and then go "oh by the way you can't matchmake this obvious crush." It's not like Chrom has a clear type she falls out of, either. He can hook up with anyone from the haughty healer to the butch lancer to the amnesiac hobo.
Say, does anyone here have pairings the game wouldn't let you ship? I remember in my first FE playthrough ever I was disappointed to discover that I hadn't actually hooked up Ross and Lute.
Edited by rikalous on Aug 2nd 2018 at 11:57:10 AM
For me, not being able to hook up Heather and Nephenee kind of stung.
Then again, most of the official pairings in Radiant Dawn weren't really pairings I liked...

I don't think anyone really expect the student to marry his teacher.
Just shows that Roy was ahead of his time.
Does gay pairing counts?
Edited by agent-trunks on Aug 3rd 2018 at 12:04:09 PM
x2 Only one I disliked was Astrid who could do better.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Oh man Chrom just cranked the uncomfortableness meter. XD Talk about Unfortunate Implications. I've never heard complaints about that before, but I guess like 70% of F!Robins marry him on purpose anyway.
Speaking of both Chrom and things the game wouldn't let me ship, Chrom X Miriel. I honestly was just curious how they'd handle it. They took the loser's way out and didn't, though.
Also, like, so many gay ones.
I mean, if Robin accepts, I can't really blame him.
Man, I wasn't even thinking about gay ships, since I don't really expect that from a mainstream Japanese game. But Innes. Stop sublimating your feelings for Ephraim into hostility. Shit's not healthy.
Fire Emblem's had gimmicky characters for as long as I can remember. Lucius spends a good chunk of his supports confusing the other party as to his gender. Sain is a shameless flirt. Serra annoys the hell out of everyone else. Raven hates Hector/Ostia. Farina is obsessed with money. It's just that due to limiting how many supports you could get, you didn't see as much of it at once.
