I'm mainly excited to see what kinds of publicity stunts these guys are gonna do this time.
"If you spend all your heart / On something that has died / You are not alive and that can't be a life"I think I first heard of the KLF from someone linking to a PDF of The Manual, then I looked them up and learned about some of their other antics, and finally I realized that the name sounded familiar because I had heard "3 AM Eternal" played on top 40 radio in the early 90's, which at the time had given me this completely inaccurate impression of them as an American rap group... Somehow that makes it extra hilarious to me that they performed that very song at an awards show with a grindcore band, shot a machine gun full of blanks over the audiences' heads, and promptly announced their retirement from the music industry.
One of the first major casualties this year for music: Jaki Liebezeit, Can's drummer, has passed away at the age of 79. May his memory be eternal.
Time to listen to Halleluhwah (and maybe the first side of Tago Mago) again...

Now this is interesting, a (near) complete archive of Billboard magazine (as opposed to the one from google books which had lots of noticeable holes) from 1936-2010. While its true most of this info can be found on wikipedia, it's still interesting to see how iconic songs/albums really did back in the day, as well as which then-hugely popular bands are now almost completely forgotten:
Fascinating. Aspiring music historians and music industry followers will spend days reading these. And they'd come in handy in research.
So, not sure if this goes here, but apparently Taylor Swift's music is back on Spotify. That was unexpected.
Am I the only one who's noticed that the songs Gloria and Let's Get Physical sound almost exactly the same?
Which "Gloria"? The Laura Branigan onenote ?

Whenever someone mentions Gloria my mind goes to Patti Smith (cause that's the best song of all time )
"If you spend all your heart / On something that has died / You are not alive and that can't be a life"Yes. Makes me wonder why there was never a Blurred Lines-style lawsuit.
probably because the lyrics weren't questionable enough to warrant it
Orbital is back, again. Here's their new single, "Copenhagen".
Sounds like the old spacey breakbeat of the 90s.
Fuck is this clown?
God.
"If you spend all your heart / On something that has died / You are not alive and that can't be a life"I would call it the exact opposite.
Here's some exciting news: Primus shared a track from the new album!

Nonsense is better than no sense at all.In case someone's interested: Queens of the Stone Age's Villains leaked onto torrent trackers about yesterday.

Nonsense is better than no sense at all.Take these two excerpts:
From Make it Rain:
Crushed at the gate
They sharpen their knives
On my mistakes
What she done, you can't give it a name
You gotta make it rain
Make it rain, yeah!
From Take me to Church:
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life
Is "sharpen a knife" an idiom of some sort? Considering the context, I'm thinking it's a Bible reference. What does it mean?

Spiral out, keep going.Do you think I should give Symphonic Metal another chance?
If you're willing to chug through a subgenre that forgets about halfway decent riffing eight out of ten times, buries most of itself in quasi film score bombastics whose sugariness loses flavour fast, and often is over produced to the point of losing any distinct taste it normally has, go ahead.
I mean, there's great artists there but it gets hit by Sturgeon General's rule pretty hard.
Hmm, I'm gonna take that as a no, then.
I can't wait to see what they'll have in store by August (one week after my birthday, to boot). Also, nice to know the numerology maintains its consistency.
Considering their warning about not wanting to go back to the past, I think that:
1 - We can exclude any re-releases, as well as the conclusion of The Black Room;
2 - We can also exclude the re-release of any of their movies;
3 - If they do release something new, it will be a New Sound Album (or single, or multimedia work, or even a new stage show).
