A Game of Gods: A Multiversal Challenge

Icarax looked round at the group of challengers.

Their tired faces said it all, he noticed the bundle of bones talking to Link.

strange...

Without looking at Icarax, he held out his hand.

"Heal."

Icarax would find his wounds and hurts slowly fading away.

"You owe me one."

Icarax noticed his wounds were healing.

He nodded to Link in reply.

"Don't expect too much from me as a thank you".

"I take that as a thank you, then."

Bowser turned towards Icarax.

"Who's this?"

"Makuta Icarax. A... self proclaimed Master of Shadows."

"We're not exactly not the best of terms."

This multiversal business still intrigued him, though.

"The Link you met in this Smash Brothers business - what was he like? Like me, or ... different?"

"Another being of darkness the Nomads saw fit to add to our menagerie."

"Indeed."

He continued to maintain his arrows.

For good measure, he shot one into a tree. From a sitting position. After stringing and bringing his bow to bear. In about 3 seconds.

"Hmm. A bit off."

He kept polishing.

Galen sat down beside Link. He closed his eyes, and started meditating. Soon enough, some of Link's arrows floated into the air.

Kimimaro had listened to Bowser's (brief) explanation and then returned to his guard post.

The Doctor decided to ignore everyone else and pours water on his dominant hand. It doesn't disapeer. "Now why isn't this cleaning?"

He suddenly notices the color. "This ain't human blood..."

He licks it. "Time Lord."

Dr. Langley had grunted in a noncommittal fashion in response to Kimimaro's suggestion, clearly too engrossed in her work to give it much thought. The red-headed scientist's left eye had dilated drammatically once again, allowing her to peer into the darkened depths of the bus' engine block without difficulty, and her arms were buried up to the elbow within the complex machinery; she muttured to herself under her breath as she worked, her words a mixture of German and Japanese that came at a fairly rapid clip, making them difficult to follow even for a native speaker—and even if one were able to understand what she was saying, it would be difficult to actually hear her words given their marginal volume and the clicks, rattles and clunks coming from the vehicle's engine.

A few minutes into her work, a gentle, high-pitched whoop came from somewhere overhead; frowning faintly the doctor paused and looked up into the trees. Moments later, a faint smile spread across her face, and she removed her arms from the engine block to point. "Well, would you look at that," she said to no one in particular. "A flutesnoot."

Were anyone to follow her gaze, they would find a curious creature perched on a low-hanging branc direcly above the bus. This one did not hurt to look upon, indicating that it was a regular animal rather than one of the horrors which had been pursuing the group for the last little while. Though it was built like a small, passerine bird with two legs and a long thin beak, the animal's chitinous legs, segmented underbelly, glittering wingcase and curling antennae made it clear that this 'flutesnoot' was actually an insect of some sort. It peered curiously down at the challengers with a pair of bulbous compound eyes, tilting its head to one side and chirping softly to itself; in particular it seemed to be watching Kimimaro's snakes, regarding them with more than a little wariness.

"They're supposed to bring good luck," Dr. Langley continued, wiping oil stains from her hands with a dirty rag that she had procured from somewhere. "It has to do with how rare a flutesnoot sighting is."

After a moment her smile faded, and she glanced off to the east in the direction of the desert. "We sure could use some of that luck right about now..."

"Hey. There's no blood there."

"You don't see it?!"

The Doctor shows Vanitas his hand which is now bright red from the Time Lord blood. "Look at it! It's covered!"

"We certainly could," Jack agreed, looking up at the so-called flutesnoot. "But the favor of Heaven is a rare and wonderful thing, perhaps even rarer than this creature. It is not to be relied upon. What we can rely upon is our work."

He had, during the course of the discussion regarding Bowswer, collected more firewood. A small stockpile was not sitting next to the campfire.

"I never did find out if there was anything in these jungles having to do with archaelogy, as there is in the desert. Do you know, Doctor?"

"Guess I owe you a thanks." Spriggan told Link.

"Listen to me. There is nothing there." His golden eyes narrowed. "There was never anything there."

"But it's bright red with Time Lord blood!"

He looks on his left. Green blood stains that one. "And this has green blood!"

Vanitas sighed, and curled his left hand into a fist, the joints cracking slightly as he did so.

The Doctor is just rambling on and on about the blood of Daleks and Time Lords being on his hand. "And look at this it doesn't remove itself no matter what I do!"

He starts wiping his jacket. While to him the blood stays on the jacket the hand doesn't lose any either. "And now my jacket's dirty!"

"Take heart, Rey Mysterio, in the observation that you're not the only one who suffers delusions from these events."

"Well, the Doctor's gone crazy. Surprising it hadn't happened beforehand."

Vanitas took hold of the Doctor's shoulder, which was admitedly above his head, and punched him in the face. He may have been small, but that doesn't mean he wasn't a hard hitter.

(OOC: Was that an auto-hit? I'll blam it if it was.)

The Doctor falls back and falls over.

"It seems that our enemies arn't the only ones that need to count their crimes." Narumi said to the Doctor after he detransformed back into his human state.
