Doesn't really matter what they do as an anime original ending. Urasawa and Gainax could team up for it and still manage to create a better ending that the original one.
The original ending can be summed up with one word: "HURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR"

Murrl LustFatMYeah. Basically, you're not reading this series to see any conclusion. You're seeing it for the crazy as fuck characters.
Mirai Nikki's final story arc is a representative of Yuno's fucked up mind.

ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI."Mirai Nikki" to be Adapted into Live Action Drama, Premieres in April
The script writer will be the same one that wrote for the 20th Century Boys and Gantz live-actions.

So... I just finished the anime. How were the anime and manga endings different, anyway?
Not really different. The anime cut out the last part where Yuno breaks through the space-time continuim with a hammer to see Yukki, 3rd world Deus and Murmur explain that they put 1st Yuno's memories into 3rd Yuno and Yukki and Yuno will be Deus' successors when he dies.
Yeah, I checked that out. That ... that really seemed like a bit of a cop-out to be honest <<
Glad they just left yuuki sad in the anime.
Honestly, he should have at least been responsible to create a new reality in the void for Murmur to play in. What a worthless hikki!
They didn't. Did you watch after the credits on the last episode?
edited 29th Jul '12 7:31:00 PM by burnpsy
Did they? Huh.
All they did was show that Yukki's phone changed from the "Yuno killed herself." to "Yuno came for me." They didn't show the rest, so it's a little ambiguous.
Re-Necroing this~
The ending as well as the 3rd World are apparently finally getting expanded upon. Should be interesting, at the very least.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyTO the person who said they left Yuki sad in the anime:
You made me almost forget the idea of watching the anime completely ><

Awesome series is awesome.
Mienne is my favorite diary owner.
"I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -MugenI'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, but am I the only one who gets a OneDegreeOfSeparation-vibe from this series?
Yuki (1st) and Yuno (2nd) are classmates at the beginning and 3rd is/was their teacher. Yuki's mom is colleagues with 5th's parents, who were members of the Cult run by 6th. 7th (Ai) and some other girl also work at the Cult, but also stay at the 8th's orphanage, along with the other 7th (Marco). Yuki (and Yuno) later befriend Hinata, who is the 10th's daughter. Yuki and Yuno have also at times worked with both 4th and 9th. 9th eventually falls for Nishijima (who she briefly teamed up with to escape 3rd once), who also works with/for 4th. I can't remember 11th's connection in all this though.
What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade. The mayor. Also the mastermind behind the whole survival game.
Interesting premise; strange I disagree with its execution.
This would be far more than a Guilty Pleasure if the series had taken a more pragmatic route:
Less Yuno deflecting knives, outrunning explosives, Yuki suddenly becoming a badass, fewer anime hijinks (the swimsuit disappearing, the wacky, embarrassing parent, Akise's not-so-subtle come'ons, his existence as a pretty-faced white-haired detective, the attention diverted to Hinata's boobs, etc), given 8th a smaller head, made 7th less gimmicky, less blind Super Sentai.
If they'd removed some of these, I'd have been ecstatic.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I just read this artcle: http://www.toonzone.net/2014/04/future-diary-complete-series-bloody-awful/
Is this true? Anybody read the manga here?
I didn't think the slang was that bad. Besides, I'm pretty sure the intent was clear. She's unhealthily obsessed. Using his name or using pet names doesn't change that.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Bump.
Can we discuss the anime in here too?
Cause I just came back from episode 19 to say I TOTALLY CALLED THAT PLOT TWIST! I KNEW THAT THE THIRD CORPSE WAS ANOTHER YUNO!
Kinda sad that calling a plot twist in an anime is what leaves me feeling the best I've felt in recent memory but WHATEVER LET ME HAVE THIS.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.IIRC, there was a separate anime thread that was dead for just as long as this one you could've bumped.
And yeah, something about that plot twist felt easy to call.

i desagree in somepoints, yukki didnt become badass, he just get broken and star fight like everyone else, that....didnt helps things, the rest is "lest shonen and more gritty seinen"
also, it seen that yukki have the same curse of shinji:having the fandom thorwing shit at him because is not a uber-badass, you would think anime fandom have grown since them, a shame.....
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"For me Yukki was the saving grace in this (what other character has any real depth?), while Shinji was often frustrating because Hideaki Anno obviously hated him and wanted the audience to do so too. This comes out glaringly in episode 19. He did not allow the character to do anything right. NGE is supposed to be about learning the importance of self-love, but how can he learn that when the one in control of it all has no love for him? Yukki contrasts with this, even before he "breaks" into fighting mode, by making his very pacifism into a strength and stopping the killing for a while. (I had a similar liking for Celia, another token pacifist who is also widely disliked by the fandom.)
However, I have to say the dislike for all these non-fighters can also be attributed to the dissonance between them acting more like normal people among a fighting cast in a fighting setting. It's a kind of "accept what genre you're into and play by the rules!" In any realistic show, their reactions would be accepted fine. (Which shows the slight dishonesty in NGE; take a real person and hold them to imaginary standards.)
A blog that gets updated on a geological timescale.Do you think Anno hates himself?
Because, remember, he was struggling with depression at the time, and he channeled those feelings of depression into not just EVA itself, but also to it's charactes, especially Shinji.
As he states here.
"And in that world, a 14-year-old boy shrinks from human contact. And he tries to live in a closed world where his behavior dooms him, and he has abandoned the attempt to understand himself. A cowardly young man who feels that his father has abandoned him, and so he has convinced himself that he is a completely unnecessary person, so much so that he cannot even commit suicide. "
Compare that to what he says two paragraphs later.
"They say, "To live is to change." I started this production with the wish that once the production complete, the world, and the heroes would change. That was my "true" desire. I tried to include everything of myself in Neon Genesis Evangelion-myself, a broken man who could do nothing for four years. A man who ran away for four years, one who was simply not dead. Then one thought. "You can't run away," came to me, and I restarted this production. It is a production where my only thought was to burn my feelings into film."
"Please crush me with your heels Esdeath-sama!also the token pacifist in a fighiting series are by definition overshadow by awsome, in the case of yukki he share the protagonist with yuno the godess of the yandere(and by a good damn reason) and with akise who is a badass normal and mineme a crazy bomber
And while in part is genre conventions, in other part is very simple: over the top o badass chararter drive the atention of everyone, even when they don have depth in any way, many fan will exchange chararter devolpment for badass stuff, and more in a shonen manga
And yes, i think anno used to hate himself in that period, is was part of his low self estem, the reason everyone hate shinji is become he hate himself for all the show until the every end

"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"
I'm sort of hoping the anime ends with Yuki refusing to kill Yuno because he loves her and asking to die instead. So Yuno kills Yuki and goes back in time to do it all over again.
"I don't need two of me." As she axes her doppelganger.
Let the final shot be of Yuno kissing Yuki in the elevator when she warns him about the 3rd diary holder (serial killer).
Have the screen fade to black as Yuno narrates:
"Someday- Yuki will free me. I know it. Because Yuki loves me."
Ultimate Yandere End.
Maybe have the ending from the manga released as a DVD only episode. (It can easily fit, just assume that Yuno and Yuki keep going round and round the dance of love and death until the time when Yuki breaks them out of it).
