[up] Which Dir En Grey album was it? They changed their sound considerably from Vulgar onward.

@ Alucard: Do tell us if your repairs earned you a poorly spelled PM stuffed with death threats. It'll be a laugh, I'm sure.

[down][down] Ah yes, the Wikipedia article on Uroboros states as such. I'll need to pick that up sometime.

I think I'm becoming allergic to Adam Dutkiewicz.

It's Uroboros.

I happened to like that album personally.

[up]So far Vulgar is the only Dir En Grey album I've liked.

It's mostly the vocals that turned me off. I dunno, Uroboros kinda sounded like the same two or three songs just playing over and over to me no matter how many times I listened to it.

I really think the vocalist has gotten pretty bad as of recent years, I was never a big fan of his vocals, I mostly liked his wide range for screaming which is why I can't stand the album or his recent live performance where he mostly just does cookie-monster screams.

Anybody ever heard Motograter? Most of the band has moved on to other things (The vocalist is now in Five Finger Death Punch ), but they're apparently trying to revive the band with only one original member.

I'll agree somewhat. Vulgar's my personal favorite album. My biggest gripe with Uroboros is that they started the album with Vinushka, a song that has horrible ending fatigue.

On another note, I'm surprised this song isn't on the narm page.

Times of Grace is pretty much what I've expected. Very KSE-esque metalcore, with bit different vocals... And I happen to like them a lot.

About Dir en grey... I'm quite fond of it, but Uroboros was quite the dissapointment. Some nice songs here and there, but not quite VULGAR or Withering to Death...

The thing that bothers me about Dir En Grey is that the only albums I can find are Uroboros and it live companion album, both of which I dislike.

I think I saw Whithering To Death at Saturday's Market last weekend but I ended up buying The Prodigy instead. I can't find Vulgar anywhere.

Withering to Death was the first U.S. released album. Vulgar was released in Europe, but not in the U.S., so you'd have to import or use other less than legal means to find the pre-Withering albums.

@Dark Decapodian: I didn't get any such thing. These types like to go as far under the radar as possible so they can vandalize in cowardly peace.

[up][up]Well that sucks[lol]

I guess it's to be expected though as that's around the time they got international acknowledgement.

Deftones is supposed to go through my state (only for one day) and I can't go see themsad

And finally, question: How was Asylum by Disturbed? How does it compare to Ten Thousand Fists?

Wait, another question: How are Dir En Grey's First 2 albums? Are they decent or should I just not worry about them?

Asylum strikes me as a more refined Indestructible.

Depends on how much you like Disturbed: if you're a hardcore Disturbed1 who thinks all their albums are genius, you'll absolutely love it. If you're a casual fan, you'll probably find it mediocre and same-y. Basically of all their albums thus far, it significantly lacks pop songs, which is reflected in how lowly its singles have charted and yet how it's still managed to find more critical approval than anything else they've done (this might be a case of Vindicated by History though).

If anything, TTF had the most pop songs of all their works; even non-singles like Deify, Sons of Plunder and Overburdened could easily have become hits. At the same time, this resulted in TTF having throw-a-way songs like Avarice and (maybe) Forgiven. To me, Asylum is like the new Believe: it borders on their best work yet, but it won't have much presence on any Greatest Hits Album they might make in the future.

@ Nul, I'd say their worth a look. Personally, I'd place Kisou as their second best behind Vulgar. Here's a song off a Kisou.

It reminds me a little of Foetus, or at very least the vocals sound like JG Thirlwell, but I could be completely wrong on that.

[up]Nah, whoever the band is, they sound alot...darker than Foetus.

Nobody in the comment section of the video seem to know and the manual doesn't list the band and the subtitles in-game just say "alternative music playing", or something like that.

^ Yes, Sevendust rules. Enemy has boring lyrics at best, but the music itself is awesome. Too bad they didn't yet come up with an album good enough to top Seasons yet, altough Cold Day Memory gets somewhat close.

[up]Well, given that the whole point of the song is to talk shit about Dez (I believe that's his name), we shouldn't expect much from the lyrics. At least the vocals are good, right?

I bet they believe that with this song they've left Dez... *puts on sunglasses* in the dust.

[up] [lol] Where the hell was that overdub from?

And isn't about half of Sevendust's lyrics about Lajon's continued feud with Dez?
