I might be able to give you one or two individual songs, but those songs are generally outside of what the artists normally sound like, so I'm not sure how helpful that'd be.
I know that I used to listen to artists with a similar sound, but I can't remember for the life of me who they were, sorry.
Ecstasy is Sustained IntensityThat's okay, anything would be good.
Infinity...[Looks through her music archives, as she has listened to most of Buck Tick and Gackt's repertoire about a kajillion times and needs to give them a break]
Oh hey, Sound Horizon! I remember getting some of their songs awhile ago. Those were great. And they have a new album? Cool! Maybe I should-
... Well, fuck. There goes all my iPhone hard drive space.
(Also, Sound Horizon is literally the only band that makes me bother with the lyrics, even if Revo apparently hates everyone who doesn't speak six languages.)

"If there's a hole, it's a man's job to thrust into it!" — Ryoma Nagare, New Getter RoboFourteenwings:
I think this is the closest I have to the R&B sound that AZU and Shota Shimizu have.
Thanks a bunch! But isn't Miyavi a Visual Kei artist?
Never mind, I like it. I should've gotten into Visual Kei by now anyways.

Infinity...His earlier stuff is a lot heavier, and his style was much more Visual Kei back then. He's gone through all kinds of genre changes since then, so I try not to label him anymore.
Ecstasy is Sustained IntensityAnybody else excited about SCANDAL's new album? And has anybody else heard JUNO?
Wow Japanese artist like their ALL CAPS names...
Has anybody else seen the absolutely panderiffic cover for SKB 48's Finally?

Infinity...I got into Faylan a few months back. I think she's rapidly becoming one of my favourite artists ever. She's so amazingly pretty and so is her voice. ;_;
Estimated shipping time: 2-4 weeks.School Food Punishment are going on an indefinite hiatus.
I would be a little more optimistic but the last time this happened...
Infinity...All of my "Japanese music" are almost always due to my exposure to them as anime OP's/ED's (or simply as part of a show's soundtrack) or as songs in Guitar Freaks, Drum Mania, Beatmania, Dance Dance Revolution or Step Mania (simfiles) or some sentai. A couple of exceptions would be Globe's "Feel Like Dance" and Pizzicato Five's "Sweet Soul Revue" because of their use by a noon-time variety show over here (for the former) and a song by a Japanese company for their ads aired over here (for the latter). Another exception would be the Candies after I watched a documentary about them on NHK.
So if I were to list names... 9nine, Abingdon Boys School, Aiko Nakano, Aimi, Airi, Angelo, Aqua Timez, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Aya Hirano, azusa, Be For U, Boom Boom Satellites, BUCK-TICK, Bump of Chicken, Chemistry, Choke Sleeper, Claris, Coaltar of the Deepers, Daisy x Daisy, dream, Etsuko Yakushimaru, eufonius, French Kiss, fripSide, Galileo Galilei, Girls Dead Monster (I only like the songs by Li SA though), Hamada Shogo, Haruka Tomatsu, heidi., High and Mighty Color, Hysteric Blue, Idoling!!!, IOSYS, jun, Kana Hanazawa, KOTOKO, Kylee, L'Arc-en-Ciel, Li SA, LM.C, Long Run Music, Mami Kawada, Maon Kurosaki, MARIA, May'n, Mika Nakashima, Miku Hatsune, Mikuni Shimokawa, Milktub, Momoiro Clover Z, Monkey Majik, Nana Mizuki, Natsuko Asou, no3b, PENICILLIN, Remioromen, Road of Major, Rookiez is Punk'd, Round Table feat. Nino, Saaya Mizuno, Savage Genius, sphere, Stereopony, Suneohair, Supercell, Takayuki Miyauchi, Tatsh plus various other artists (Ray ZY, Junko Hirata, etc.), TËЯRA, The Back Horn, The Brilliant Green, The Pillows, Tomato n' Pine, Tommy Heavenly6, Tomoko Tane, TWO-MIX, Ultra-Prism, Unison Square Garden, UVE Rworld, Yui Horie, Yui Sakakibara, Yui Kaori, Yuuya Matsushita
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.Good choice. She could use a little more publicity - that's a pretty good voice she has on her.
Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.BRIGHT are back. .

Infinity......but T.M.Revolution is not a band. It's a solo project with a dedicated music producer, lyricist and support band. And just so no one else will ever be confused again, please enjoy his brand new wiki article. It would awesome if someone wants to write a better summary, just saying.
I think the only artists I have in common with most Jmusic fandom these days are L'Arc, Dir en grey and TMR. Never got into the kind of visual bands that are popular with most Jrock fans, but I do like some older/obscure current bands.
Like these guys:

Infinity...I won't let this thread die!
I did naht.Abongdon Boys School are the only J-anything band that I've got a full album from. Most of the others just end up being singles from the anime I listen to.
That being said, MELL comes close in numbers, and frankly I'd listen to anything by Yui.
And I've listened to 'Complication' by ROOKiEZ is PUNK'D on repeat for an entire day, which I guess counts for something.
A JROCK/JMETAL thread with zero mention of Loudness or EZO?
For shame...
Loudness are still great tho the band seems to have somewhat decayed with the death of Higuchi...the new drummer is cool but looks outright UNCOMFORTABLE playing ballads and the band seems to be rehashing old ideas lately....they still got their playing down tho...
Shame Masaki Yamada is relegated to Lead Bassist for a local band that he seems to have founded with his girlfriend...yikes...the band has great lyrics but their sound is just terrible and his girl has a very annoying voice. Masaki himself is still great though and still sings great.
The best Loudness album IMO is their 1992 effort with Taiji Sawada and Yamada...
David Bowie 1947-2016Thoughts on Kayry Pamyu Pamyu?
She's extremely popular in Japan. I think her songs are catchy and good. She's okay, if not a bit eerily reminiscent of Lady Gaga.
I did naht. She had that one song that some rapper sampled.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Which one?
I did naht.Which song or which rapper?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Both.
I did naht.
Anybody know any artists with a similar sound to AZU or Shota Shimizu?
