I thought of one once.
For some reason it was Bug/Psychic.
There's a thought. Have a Bug/Psychic ant line with a similiar/branch-off Bug/Dark termite line.

I'm having to learn to pay the price^^ Makes sense that they'd be Psychic - Ants are social animals, and you could make them mind-linked.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeYou mean like a Hive Mind?
But that was already taken by Combee, which are mind linked slaves to the resident Vespiquen.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceBug/Dark would make sense because the mind-link means that they have no mind of their own and thus can't be controlled by anyone but the hive queen (who is also a legendary btw), or, well, the trainer.
Also, first-stage ant Pokemon is a builder ant, evolved form is a soldier which is two ants linked together into a sort of battle-tank. To reflect this, their base HP and Attack should exactly double. They should have a high Special Attack but only learn acid-ish moves of the special type, high attack, very high defense but very low HP.
I would Say very high HP and Attack stats, high Defence stats and low Sp. Attack, Sp. Defence and piss poor Speed (Around 40).
It has the Bulky Sweeper archetype, The poor Spd stat is made up for by the High HP stat and the Good Defence stat. Which could shell off a few hits and pack a punch in the mean time.
Let's Make this a Split Evo like Wurmple.
Worker Ant, 1st stage. Nothing Special.
2nd Stage Male (Evolves at Lv X) = A fusion of several ants that looks like a tank, With it's Very high HP and Attack stats and its good defences, It can take a few hits before it falls. But it's about as slow as a frozen snail and takes special attacks like a little girl.
2nd Stage Female (Evolves at level Y). Based on the Honeypot Ant◊ It's a Sponge, High Defence and Sp Defence, Good Hp, low attack and special attack and a low speed. Annoyer archetype.
2 Stage Female. This is where it gets interesting. It evolves via a Stone. Its a queen ant that exchanges it's dark type for a Psychic type. As the leader of a coloney of ants with it's Hive Mind, one of its abilities would have it double Special attack and speed in double battles if etheir it's Pre-evo, Or other two evos are in battle with it. Boasts a High Special Attack and Speed, Good HP, Low everything else.

I'm having to learn to pay the priceI was thinking possibly a Bug/Fire Fire/Bombardier Ant type of thing with high speed and sp. attack that knows Poison moves and Explosion.
Or possibly a Bug/Fighting or Bug/Dark Soldier Ant with high physical attack and defenses but slow and takes special hits like a little girl.
They could be the split evo of the male workers that Faw mentioned. The females could work like Vespiquen and evolve into a Bug/Psychic Hive Queen.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!That's what I said about my Tank Ant Pokemon.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceDouble post my bad.

I'm having to learn to pay the priceMale ants are the only ones with wings, so perhaps a male ant evo could be bug/flying, while the female ant evo (based on a queen) would be bug/psychic.
I've returned from the depths to continue politely irritating the good people of TV Tropes.(◕‿◕✿)That's funny— I mentioned Bug/Psychic and Bug/Dark ideas... twice? And no one took notice. Now I am sad.
"I've come to the conclusion that this is a very stupid idea."As a gimmick mon, maybe a quad-typed species?
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages? Then it would be a total gamebreaker.
YOU! OBEY THE FIST!Not if it had particularly mediocre stats. It would basically gimmick itself on STAB and hope nobody could level a 4x against it.
Heh, hope it doesn't pick like, normal/rock/ice/dark or something.
I know of a good name of the ant: Psymire.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~Madrugada@Longfellow: I could see Poison/Dragon happening if Arbok were ever to get an evolution. It'd be a three-headed hydra with very high Attack and HP, but very low Speed.

More Pokemon that can take advantage of hailstorm.(Ie, not ice types). Just contrast it to sand storm.
More moves that can makes use of a Pokemon's stats, that's what I want to see. Look what happened to Clefable and Kingdra. No longer useless.
Articuno should have a strong special flying attack. Fire Fang did a lot for fire types, but still, a few more physical fire moves wouldn't be too bad, maybe bump up Flame wheels power by five or ten points?
For that, maybe bump up a lot of signature moves. What's the point of being the only thing to learn Octozuka if its useless?
Species like Beedrill may not be very useful in the long run and that's fine. I like Luvdisk, in all its useless glory but still, it would be nice to see some new Pokemon that were capable counters to Garchomp, and for varying reasons would make users considering using Dragonite or Salamence in competitive play(Who will still eat you alive). When I first played the game I didn't mind seeing Garchomps, until I ran into one on a team with Hippowdon you can guess what happened, and how frustrating it was coming up with solutions.
A dark bug with big defense stats, a recovery move and arena trap to kill Wobbafetts. That kind of thing, if only to run into less Wobbafett users.
The part I'd have to stress the most is just because a mon's made to counter a game breaker doesn't mean it has to have stats that go through the roof, that way it wouldn't undermine.
Stats, well nothing to major but I looked up Pokemon's base stats today and was shocked to see Dragonite's add up to 600! That's bigger than the legendary birds! Yeah I'm sure you knew that already but I'd bump all the breedable non legend's bases down to a total of 580 and bump to birds up to 600. It seems right.
Oh, uh, bump up the power of HM moves. Waterfall and Surf are fine the way they are, I'm talking about Rock Smash, Cut, the wimpy ones.
—Also, hire an engineer and a biologist and have them fix the Pokedex.

Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackFor the record, Gamefreak's not going to bump up/down stats mid-gen. Compatibility issues and all that.
360 Gamertag: Electivirus. 3DS friend code: 5412-9983-8497. PSN ID: Electivirus. PM me if you add me on any.Ok, maybe not the Pokemon's stats but there is no reason they couldn't make certain moves more powerful, accurate or have additional effects. HMs, Signature moves, Fire Wheel, ect

Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackCut would already be fine if it had, like, 5 more power and 100 accuracy. 10 more power to bump it up to 60 would be downright luxurious. I'd use it as an all-purpose weak-or-weakened-Pokemon-slayer, no problem.
If they just stop making new pokemon and actually try to vary the game a bit from the old ones it'll be fine by me :)
"Stop making new pokemon .... vary from the old ones"
Does not compute!
Also: we need to have a bullet-ant based 'mon that would know Bounce.
Or perhaps a Water/Bug type based off of pistol shrimp. With a unique attack based off the nuclear bubble bazooka thingamajig pistol shrimp can do.
I have a message from another time...Because blatant and shameless advertising isn't beneath me, if peopele are all gung-ho about an ant type, perhaps a fire-ant, while obvious, would not be a bad idea.
When All Else Fails, you have fun and flirt wit da ladies, dats da Drawings way!
We have had a Wasp, bee and yet, we haven't had an Ant.
