[up]Good idea. I haven't even had the will to be apart of this anyways.

As you probably can tell, I'm barely more than a lurker.

Fun Fact: I came up with the "Unlurking Sentinel" name because I was intending to stop being a Lurker. I don't think it worked.

Hey, draft of my Binacle article is finally done. comments and critiques welcome. Was definitely more difficult than i was expecting, trying to mix the PO Kemon with the real thing.

Binacle Line

Morphs [Oak Catalogue #]

  • Binacle [688] – Capitulum manuduos

  • Barbaracle [689] – Capitulum septamanutitan

Physical Description

The members of the Binacle line are a pair of Pedunculatan Pokémon whom share a dual Rock and Water typing. They are both members of the small group of symbiotic Pokémon where a ‘single’ Pokémon actually consists of two or more individuals, Dugtrio and Magneton are other examples. This should not be confused with the condition polycerebra, where a Pokémon has two or more brains, the members of the Doduo line being the prime examples.

The juvenile form of the line Binacle measures in at between 35 and 65cm tall and can weigh between 25 and 40kg. Its body consists of a single ‘hand’ and stalk or neck attached to a large grey rock. The stalk is orange with a single white stripe, while its face is a dark brown with orange cheeks and contains two round eyes with no visible iris. The ‘scalp’ of its head is orange and possess four large claws protruding vertically, the two middle claws have fused into a single large claw.

The claws consist of a seemingly unique keratin and silica blend where during formation the keratin has encapsulated silica from the rock it is attached to leading to the claws possessing some of the same properties as the rock. It should be noted that not only does a ‘single’ Binacle consist of two individuals on the one rock but also that both the height and weight measurements include both ‘hands’ and the rock to which the individuals are attached.

Upon evolution into Barbaracle the two individuals have multiplied into seven individuals attached to two large rocks joined by an orange segmented waist resembling and exposed spine.

Two individuals grow downwards from the bottom rock to form a pair of legs and feet, while the upper rock has two individuals growing from its lower surface that act as Barbaracle’s main arms and hands while from the upper surface grows two individuals that act as a pair of secondary arms, similar to those seen on a Machamp, and a third shorter squat individual grows from the centre of the upper surface and acts as the head.

While the four arms resemble the ‘arms’ and ‘hands’ of a Binacle, though they only possess a single eye rather than two, the individuals that form the legs have modified so the ‘hand’ joins the ‘arm’ from the back rather than the bottom. The feet have also modified to possess a single orange star instead of an eye. The head resembles a left fist and has two eyes, four clawed fingers on top and a fifth clawed ‘thumb on its right cheek.

All its limbs retain the four large claws of Binacle and the orange and brown ‘necks’ with a brown ‘hand’. The ‘spine’ despite appearing to simply be a formation to join the two rocks is actually the ‘neck’ of the individual that forms the head of Barbaracle.

Barbaracle measure at between 1 and 1.5m and weigh between 75 and 100kg. It should be noted that as with Binacle the weight measurement includes the weight of the two stones.

As with all species of Pokémon the Binacle line has members that exhibit a rare phenotype that alters their colouring. As a Binacle these members have green faces and claws, while their cheeks, ‘scalps’ and necks are pink instead of orange.

As Barbaracle these members have green faces, hands, feet and claws and a pink face and ‘spine’. Their four arms and legs are pink with a green section at the ‘elbow and knee’ joints.

Individuals with this phenotype are highly sought after by collectors and the author of this article is one of those lucky enough to possess one.

Notable Biology

One of the most notable biological points of the members of the Binacle line is the elasticity and flexibility of the ‘necks’ of each individual which allows them to stretch and contract their ‘necks’ like a Grass type would its vines. This allows the Pokémon to reach distances that would normally be beyond their scope.

Another important point is that as with all cases of symbiotic Pokémon each individual within both members of this line possess full control over their own body and can act individually rather than as part of a whole. As such the individuals seem to possess a form of mild telepathy with the other individuals that make up the Pokémon allowing them to coordinate their movements for the good of the whole. While this isn’t as important for Binacle, for Barbaracle this is almost a necessity for survival. As such while each of the seven individuals is capable of acting on its own in most situations the head coordinates all actions and the limbs follow its orders.

As a dual Rock and Water type Pokémon the members possess both the physical robustness of the Rock type and the aquatic affinity of the Water type.

Due to the majority of their body area consisting of a form of sandstone, the members of the Binacle line possess great resistance to physical blows while their own physical blows are nearly as potent due to the silica compounds incorporated into their claws which are their main means of physical attack.

While capable of launching jets of water and throwing large or razor sharp rocks at opponents the Binacle lines natural repertoire consists mainly of slashing at opponents with its razor sharp claws and they make up a quarter of the Pokémon capable of learning the powerful Razor Shell technique.

With training the members of the Binacle line can learn a large range of moves from firing beams of cryonic energy and jets of boiling water, to creating seismic events or powerful walls of water.

Despite appearing to be related to other shell-like Pokémon like the Shellder and Clamperl lines they are actually more closely related to the Krabby, Corphish and Clauncher lines,

There are three distinct sub-groups of these Pokémon. The first sub-group possess much keener eye-sight that allows them to not target an opponent’s weak point more precisely and thus deal more damage than normal. This has led some researchers to theorise that they possess either a second specialised lens within their eyes or that they have conscious control over their single lens which allows a telescoping-like phenomenon. This has led to this sub-group to be dubbed the ‘Sniper’ ability due to the obvious similarities to the titular firearm.

The second subgroup possesses the appropriately titled ‘Tough Claws’ ability which causes extra layers of the keratin/silica construct to form on its claws. This obviously makes the claws harder and thus increases the potency of any moves the individual uses that make contact with the opponent. It should be noted that the members of the Binacle line are the only Pokémon known to be able to possess this ability that aren’t one of the newly discovered ‘Mega Pokémon’. Researchers are investigating whether this fact has any evolutionary significance.

The third and rarest sub-group possess a seemingly unconscious reaction to physical contact by an opponent which causes them to steal the opponent’s held item. The only known exceptions to this ability are those items that have some sort of significant connection to the attacking Pokémon, such as a ‘Mega Stone’, and those held by a Pokémon capable of excreting certain adhesive compounds.

Habitat

Binacle makes its home within the intertidal zone of beaches using the movement of water to bring food within its reach and to act as a first line of protection. Barbaracle live lower down the tidal shelf usually within sea caves or cracks in the seafloor.

Diet

Both members of this line are herbivorous dominant omnivores with the majority of the diet consisting of seaweed brought within reach by the tide in the case of Binacle or harvested from the seafloor in the case of Barbaracle. Both members will also filter out small organisms from within the water as it passes over their bodies. In the case of trainer owned members store bought Pokémon food will usually suffice though regular servings of seaweed or similar vegetation is also recommended.

Hazards

One of the biggest hazards of the Binacle line is their physical resilience and their razor sharp claws. Their claws are easily capable of leaving deep gashes in anyone that gets too close. The mostly sedentary life of Binacle luckily makes chance encounters rare and easily avoidable. Similarly chance encounters with Barbaracle are rare and easily avoidable due to their spending much of their lives on the sea floor.

In the occasion that you are travelling to a beach known to be home to Binacle or Barbaracle it is recommended you stay on the beach and away from the rocky platforms that Binacle like to make their home and don’t go diving unaccompanied, especially near the continental shelf. It is recommended to be accompanied by a Grass type Pokémon who should be able to easily subdue any attackers. If a Grass type is unavailable then a Ground, Electric or Fighting type will also suffice.

Social Structure

The members of the Binacle line are mostly solitary only ever interacting with the other individual/s that make up the Pokémon. In the event that the two individuals of a Binacle fight one will move to another rock and wait on a new partner. This has yet to be seen in a Barbaracle and what effect it would have on the whole and the individual if it did is unknown. If two Barbaracle meet they will engage in contests of strength, toughness of body and sharpness of claws. The winner will usually take some or all of the loser’s territory for itself.

Courting

The Binacle line has little in the way of courting though both forms are capable of breeding. The male will extend a long fine tube that searches for a nearby female and with which to transmit sperm to the female. The female will brood the fertilised egg within its mantle cavity hidden within the rock to which it is attached. Upon hatching the larvae are released into the sea where they seek out a hard surface on which to settle. They will then fix themselves in place and undergo a metamorphosis into the individual neck and ‘hand’.

It should be noted that each individual has its own gender and thus a Binacle could consist of a male female pair, in this case the Binacle as a whole is classified by which of the two heads seems the most dominant. As a Barbaracle the individual is classified by which gender has the most representatives within the whole. Due to the possibility of a mix of genders within the whole, and that each ‘hand’ reproduces separately from the whole, it is possible for a Binacle or Barbaracle to be both a mother and a father.

In Human Society

The Binacle line’s representation in human culture is mixed. Binacle rarely feature as more than a background character in undersea scenes of movies and TV shows. Barbaracle on the other hand have found niche rolls, usually in similar rolls to that of the Golett line, as guardians and defenders of cities, vaults etc. especially in representations of Atlantis and similar sunken cities. [[Huntik One such situation in a cartoon where people are able to summon creatures from the spirit world to fight alongside them, is the inclusion of a trio of Barbaracle as part of a test to enter Atlantis where the guardians of the sunken city summon the trio to counter to hero’s summoned Golurk.

It should also be noted that some parts of the world the members of this line are considered quite the delicacy.]]

I've got nothing for sloths, but given Slaking's more Ape-like appearance and the fact the Anime has already used the reference (AG 179, Slaking Kong), you may want to put a King Kong or Donkey Kong reference in if you haven't already.

Good luck finding any other sloth references.

May I respectfully request dibs on the rewrite of the Seedot Line entry? As an enthusiast of the line, I want to give it the justice it deserves.

Rufflet Line

Morphs [Oak Catalog #]

  • Rufflet [#627]
  • Braviary [#628]

Physical Description

Rufflets are avian pokemon with wide yellow beaks set between two large black eyes; the lens of these eyes give the impression of white pupils, but this is only an illusion. Their scaly yellow legs end in thick black talons. A white fluffy ruff that covers its head and neck, with a single feather in the front having a red zigzag pattern on its lower portion. Aside from this and the three white tail feathers, the Rufflet's feathers are all a navy blue. There is a rare exception, with brown feathers and the forehead feather having an orange lower portion, which is prized by collectors for both its rarity and the coloration of its evolution.

Braviary are four times as large as their pre-evolution, with a hooked beak, longer legs, broader tails, and larger wings. Their navy feathers have darkened quite a bit, stretching out to cover their legs to the ankle; the dorsal surface of the pokemon is almost entirely a dark red in color. The tail feathers are mostly red, with a yellow stripe separating the primary body from the blue tips. While they retain the ruff of their pre-evolution, it has not grown larger with the rest of the body and is constrained to the back of the head. Furthermore, the zigzag feather of the Rufflet has grown into a complicated crest; three feathers extend back from the blue cere of the beak, each with a dark red lower third and white upper portions, while three pairs of smaller, pure white feathers frame the Braviary's eyes. Rufflets with brown feathers retain them upon evolution, but there dorsal coloration is almost the inverse of their companions; the head feathers and back of the wings are a bright blue, while the cere and tail tip are dark red. This dramatic coloration is prized by collectors.

Notable Biology

Both Rufflet and Braviary have incredible strength, with Braviary being reported to occasionally lift cars; a number of them can use this strength to amplify attacks that would normally cause an additional effect to, instead, 'merely' do more damage. An equal number, however, seem to hone the line's other major advantage; while an ordinary Rufflet can see prey from a great distance, the ones with keen eyes rarely if ever miss their attacks on prey. A small population of 'outcast' Braviary exist which exhibit neither ability; they make up for it with a ferocity that only increases when they are injured, which for they already aggressive Rufflet line is truly impressive and frightening.

Social Structure

Rufflets are known to form constant fight-bands, squawking as they run through the grass in groups of three to nine in search of a fight. When one of them spots another pokemon, they'll cry out a challenge; the others will stand to the side, cheering the fighter on until he falls, whereupon one of them will step forward. Whoever succeeds in driving off or killing the other pokemon is awarded praises, especially if they did so on their own. Despite this, whole groups have a tendency to overestimate their foes and get picked off; small groups of one or two will seek out others to join, generally being given some respect as survivors of horrific battles.

The hard-earned and harsh lessons of a Rufflet's life carry over to the evolved Braviary. While they are still somewhat reckless, there is a small measure of restraint in their actions; they only attack to feed or to protect their flock. The flock is defined as themselves, any other member of their Rufflet group (evolved or not), and any Rufflet hatchling of theirs that has yet to form a fight-group.

Habitat

The Rufflet line is mostly native to grasslands and mountains in northeast Unova, but there is a small population of 'outcast' Braviary that are occasionally spotted in the desert.

Diet

Both Rufflet and Braviary are predators, each hunting down other pokemon for the purposes of feeding. Interestingly, while they fly in flocks and roam in groups, only one member at a time will attack prey even in situations where it is utterly insane. The group will always share the kill, however, and appear to give respect to the one that brought the creature down. They will not guard the kill, and sometimes even share it with other pokemon before they fly away.

Hazards

The younger Rufflet can break legs with a wingbeat and rip out chunks of flesh with their beaks. This, coupled with their tendency to try to pick fights, makes them incredibly dangerous; however, this tendency can be curbed if they are allowed to battle regularly. Braviary are both more dangerous, in the sense that they have more raw power, and less, in the sense that they don't use it if unnecessary. Both forms require the praise of their trainer and/or their team, as they consider their battles to be their greatest deeds; conversely, careful management is required in order to teach them to hold back, otherwise they will become a danger both to other pokemon and to themselves.

Courting and Childrearing

The Rufflet line is all male, although it is suspected that the Vullaby line is the female counterpart as Braviary and Mandibuzz are seasonally seen migrating together to parts unknown. Nevertheless, the only Rufflet eggs known are either the product of Ditto breeding or wild eggs clutched in the talons of returning Braviary. A flock of Braviary will gather their eggs in small nests, protecting them while they hatch and engaging them in small play fights. As the Rufflets grow older, they try to push back their parents; one by one, the flock is 'driven away', although they still watch from afar. Once the last Braviary is fought off, the younglings set out on their own.

In Human Society

The Rufflet has a very minor presence in modern Unova culture, usually turning up as over-eager children or schoolyard bullies. There is evidence that some prior civilizations gave them a measure of totemic importance. This might be related to the same civilization's habit of mimicking the head crest of Braviary when they went to war. In most modern appearances, the Braviary is an honorable warrior and protector; Unova as a whole has adapted the species as a symbol of the region.

@Binacle Line: I'd mention how despite the fact that they look like they're closely related to something like a Shellder or Clamperl, their closest relatives would include the Krabby, Corphish, and Clauncher Lines.

Also, that they're perfectly edible in the IHC section.

Ralts Line

Morphs [Oak Catalog #]

  • Ralts [#280]
  • Kirlia [#281]
  • Gardevoir [#282]
    • Mega Gardevoir [#282-M]
  • Gallade [#475]
    • Mega Gallade [#475-M]

Appearance

Ralts is a small humanoid Pokémon, a little over one foot tall. It is covered with short, glossy white fur that obscures the tiny fingers, ears, and nose. The upper half of its head is covered with thick, lime-green hair that drapes over its red eyes and resembles a bowl-cut; a pair of triangular red horns protrudes from the front and back of the skull. Much longer 'sheets' of white fur drape around each leg, giving the impression that the Ralts is stumbling about in an oversized dress.

The first evolution, Kirlia, stands approximately twice as high. The hair grows at the sides into bangs and splits around the eyes to allow unimpeded vision; the horns have rotated around to the sides of the head in a manner that visually resembles hairpins. Their fingers lengthen, becoming visible through the fur. The sheets of fur gather up and stick out like a tutu, revealing a green lower body with slender legs.

The primary final evolution, Gardevoir, is nearly the height of a grown human (about five feet). The green hair curls around three pairs of white ear spines and hardens below the jawline to form a protective helmet. Their red horns migrate to the torso, appearing to spear the Gardevoir through the heart. The arms grow a green covering that extends from the shoulders down into a vest-like pattern. The fur sheets, meanwhile, lengthen and loosen into a simple gown; their inner surface becomes coated with the green covering of the lower body, leaving their slender legs a pure white.

Gardevoir are capable of mega-evolution, and undergo a number of radical changes when they do so. A faint silvery coat, all but white to the naked eye, develops on almost their entire body, leaving only their head and back untouched. The extra fur flares out the dress structure, causing it to resemble a ballgown, and gathers densely around the forearms in such a way that it appears the Gardevoir is wearing gloves. Their hair curls even more tightly around the skull, and their ear spines flare out to create an intense arc. Most impressively, the rib-horns push forward, unfolding from the chest into a bow-like shape.

The alternate final form, Gallade, is only attainable by males. He stands at about the same height as a Gardevoir, wiry but deceptively muscular, and the horns have again moved to the chest and back. The dress extensions had tighted into two 'pants legs,' bunching around the waist like a cummerbund. A Gallade's green hair hardens into a skull-tight helmet, wrapping around two pairs of thick earspines; a cyan stripe runs from the front tip to the back, enveloping the large fin-like crest jutting from the rear. The green coloration moves down the neck, making a triangular shape on the torso and enveloping the shoulders down to the hands. A Gallade's lower arms harden into thick bludgeons that extend backward past the elbows in a tonfa-like shape.

Like Gardevoir, Gallade are capable of mega-evolution. Their ear spines flare out dramatically, the helmet crest grows dramatically curved, and the front tip of the cyan strip splits two smaller lines off in an arrow-like formation. All the fur on and below the neck becomes white, with an oddly jagged pattern forming near the waist; two 'capes' of sheet-like fur sprout from the shoulders, their inner surface gaining a cyan coloration. Most interestingly, while their torso-horns shorten to near flatness, their already long arms lengthen even further, gaining serrated edges made of the same material as their horns; an orblike projection forms on the arm itself near the elbow.

There is, as always, a rare breed of Ralts line with a unique chromatic mutation. In this case, a lack of a certain pigmentation generally causes the horns and eyes to appear more orange than red, and all green portions of the pokemon become cyan. Gallade have the additional side effect of their normally cyan portions becoming entirely white, even in their mega evolution; the mega evolved Gardevoir also surprisingly has black fur in place of the usual near-white silver.

Notable Biology

The signature dress-like fur extension present on all elvolutionary stages of the Ralts line is somewhere between the consistency of cotton and silk. This, in combination with their somewhat frail appearance and the empathy that all forms naturally have, has caused the line to be seen as feminine by modern standards (with the obvious exception of the Gallade). Also of note is the way the green hair on top of the head gradually hardens as the pokemon grows. Whereas the Ralts has soft hair, the Kirlia has a firm baleen-like texture at the forehead and back of the head, and both final forms have resolved all of the hair into protective helmets. This process is caused by the horns, which produce excess keratin to fuse hair and fur together as they shift around throughout the individual's various stages. Over time, the final forms exhibit similar toughening of the fur in the upper torso around the current position of the horns.

The horns also function as foci and receptors for psychic energy. The line is very receptive to empathic psychic emissions, with a number of them being able to either make opponents feel as they feel or outright copy unique special abilities; a small minority have even been taught to read their allies and dodge large area of effect attacks. As the line evolves, their psychic capabilities increase dramatically; a Ralts can resonate with positive emotions and mindsets, a Kirlia has learned to manipulate reality and move things from afar, and there are numerous reports of the Gardevoir literally generating miniature black holes. Furthermore, a mega-evolved Gardevoir can imbue ordinary actions with the psychic force it uses to feed, effectively turning them into high-powered fairy-type moves.

Gallades gain smaller, decentralized foci across their whole frame, particularly in their lower arms. Their long-range psychic powers and empathic senses weaken considerably, but their bodies toughen to compensate. Their powers and combat style shift to optimize swift and brutal close combat via supercharging physical strikes with psychic energy; most of the time, this manifests in the form of increased speed after being lightly stunned, but some Gallade have trained specifically to fight Dark-type pokemon and grow more aggressive if hit with such moves. A Mega Gallade grows even more concentrated and is incapable of being stunned.

Habitat

Wild members of the Ralts line live relatively far from large cities, as they dislike the emanations of monotony and "daily grind" from the humans within. They also dislike the deep forest due to claustrophobia and the occasional empathic death throes of nearby prey creatures. Thus, they tend to live on the edges of forests near clearings, close enough to hide if they sense danger. They tend to be quite reclusive, though Ralts will approach a human or Pokémon emitting positive emotions.

In captivity, a Ralts will form an empathic bond with and become very protective of their trainer. Like most psychic Pokémon, more mature forms will attempt to blend into the trainer's life as equals. Due to this line's empathic nature, they dislike the isolation of a Pokéball, though they will seek it out if the environment emanates negative feelings and they are assured of their trainer's protection.

Diet

While the Ralts line is biologically capable of processing meat, they find hunting quite distasteful due to empathic backlash of killing prey, and remain herbivorous unless their trainer or offspring desperately need food. Furthermore, their Fairy nature requires them to feed off some form of positive emotion; Ralts will seek out minds that resonate that way, while older members of the line will simply encourage good feelings through nurturing empathy.

Hazards

The Ralts line are naturally skilled psychics, capable of mentally warping reality at their full power, but dislike causing serious injury due to empathic backlash. Most hazards are related to direct threatening of the pokemon, their family, or their friends, of whom it is very protective.

It is, however, unwise to antagonize a Ralts or any of its evolutions. Though it will almost certainly refrain from causing physical injury, a sufficiently annoyed specimen may find many ways to retaliate nonetheless, and antagonists may soon find themselves speaking incomprehensibly, or in need of a change of clothes.

Fully grown Gallade are fond of ceremonial duels, and in spite of their best efforts accidents are always possible. Thankfully, they also tent to be very formal and polite and will rarely attack unless provoked.

Courting and Childrearing

The Ralts line reaches sexual maturity at the Kirlia stage. They form empathic bonds with mates, and mate for life. They attempt to choose mates within their current evolutionary level due to an awkward three-foot height difference between the intermediate and final form. The mating process is distinctly unusual; two individuals will touch hands, a glow will form between them, and shortly thereafter an egg will be grasped by the new parents. It's unclear how this happens, but the Ralts line can mate with such creatures as Grimer and Slugma, so they are placed in the amorphous egg group. A child is raised by the parents until it leaves to seek a mate, but may return to talk to their parents, introduce their new mate, or simply help raise their younger siblings.

Males tend to prefer evolving into Gallades — in the wild this is mostly just a status symbol, though in captivity they may grow self-conscious about their species' feminine appearance due to nearby and prominent human perceptions. As this requires finding and use of a rare Dawn Stone to trigger their latent genes, families may hand down Everstones to sons to give them more time to accomplish this.

Social Structure

The Ralts line has a family structure very similar to that of humans. Nuclear families stay together until the nest empties, so to speak, and family ties are kept afterward. Due to their sharp empathic senses and protective families, it is unusual for one of this species to be captured by a trainer unexpectedly. The capture is usually voluntary unto a trainer that the specimen has already befriended, like many of the more evasive Psychic-types.

In Human Society

Ralts and its evolutions enjoy a positive reputation in most stories about them; both Ralts and Kirlia are considered very adorable by the world as a whole, and Gardevoir have gained a well-deserved reputation for being as motherly as possible, while the Gallade is usually seen as a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. Trained Gardevoir will find themselves usually employed in 'helpful' roles where they interact with many people on a day to day basis, such as secretaries, therapists, nannies, medical professionals, and in one notable case tech support. The fact that many of them learn to communicate either telepathically or through written word generally affords them more respect than the usual pokemon, and a rare few have been granted full on citizenship. Gallades, while they also gravitate toward high-interaction service roles, appear to prefer some physicality to their tasks; they can be seen as bellboys, chauffeurs, bodyguards, coaches, and camp leaders.

Because of the Gardevoir's reputation as a motherly figure, there is a minor trend among some artists to represent them with well-endowed hips and breasts. The pokemon themselves tend to respond to such depictions with bemusement; while they can see how it is intended to be a complimentary portrayal, they do not have or need such accouterments in their own reproduction and, indeed, half of them are male anyway. It's not unheard of for a Gardevoir to tease artists who make these images by promising them a fun time... and then taking them to a local amusement park or some such. Indeed, the line's view toward sexuality on the whole is surprisingly apathetic; it happens between lovers, and beyond that the details don't really matter. More than one couple has had to explain to their pokemon that it is considered very rude to walk in on them while they are privately engaged.

For all the positive portrayals of the Ralts line, though, there remains a dark edge in some older stories. An ancient Sinnoh story speaks of armies of Gallade and Gardevoir marching against some ancient and powerful enemy; while the details aren't clear, it is generally agreed that they won at the cost of many lives and a 'terrible curse' that weakened them (most likely reducing them from their mega-evolved forms to the typical ones in the modern era). A tablet recovered from a ruined city speaks of 'the form of a white lady, eyes glowing red, whispering madness and twisting the air as she shattered the slaves' bonds.' Both of these were incorporated into a famous fantasy series and many stories made in the later years remember this, giving the Ralts line a kind but still otherworldly depiction.

Trainer's Notes

The Ralts line is potentially very powerful, but very difficult to capture and even more difficult to handle in the long term. It is not recommended for beginner trainers to bother attempting. While not aggressive enough to be a direct physical hazard, this Pokémon presents social hurdles unusual to most species ordinarily trained by a competitive battler. If handled improperly, especially by an inexperienced trainer unfamiliar with the psychology and dynamics of the rest of the team, this may catastrophically undermine team cohesion.

This Pokémon is as intelligent as most Psychic-types, but lacks Psychics' usual aloofness. Though incapable of human speech, it is not unheard of for one of the Ralts line to become literate or communicate telepathically with humans. As such, this Pokémon will attempt to establish itself as a social equal with its trainer, which may confuse other Pokémon used to a pack mentality. In particular, a "pack beta" (typically one's starter) may see the Ralts as threatening its position as the trainer's second-in-command, or worse, the trainer's as the leader.

This Pokémon is very affectionate to family, and applies the term rather broadly — that includes but is not limited to their nuclear family, you, your own family, your entire team, any traveling companions and their teams, and any other close friends. It tends not to approve of trading away other Pokémon unless the one to be traded has been extremely unpleasant or is going to another trusted friend, and it will be deeply offended if you try to trade itself. This often impairs competitive trainers who need to adapt their teams more fluidly than hobbyists, and is often found uncanny and "clingy" to more casual trainers. Bringing a Ralts or its evolutions onto a team will most likely result in either a long-term core member of a largely static team, or a friendship that deteriorates badly enough to warrant release back to its nuclear family, with rather little in between.

This line tends to not enjoy battling at first, and may never develop a taste for it due to the unpleasant empathic feedback of striking an opponent. Those who adjust usually do so by learning to filter their sensitivity, and Gallades are particularly adept at this (see a licensed Psychic-type specialist if they have difficulty doing this). Like most Psychics, they are poor multitaskers in battle, but unlike other Psychics are at least not too headstrong to admit this, and will not need much persuasion to defer to a trainer in combat.

[up]x2 Ralts isn't a baby stage, so it can breed before evolving.

Also, there are various capitalization issues, such as making Mega Evolution lowercase.

Not saying that we should say they're sexually mature out of the egg, but waiting until something evolves isn't accurate to game mechanics at all.

This project isn't strictly reflective of game mechanics. Each writer can take what they want from a combination of real world bilogy and the different Pokemon canons to write their article.

Thus all the mammals who give birth to live young in several entries or the fossils requiring antibiotic baths and extra care to survive in the modern world.

Kewl. Here's the drafts for Reshiram and Kyurem for your approval, and I'll get to work on Hoopa:

Reshiram

Morphs [Oak Catalog #]

  • Reshiram [643]

Physical Description

Reshiram is a large draconic Pokémon famous for its bright white colour, a stark contrast to the black of its counterpart, Zekrom. Whereas Zekrom is masculine with large muscles and black scales, Reshiram is more feminine, with white fur covering its body.

Reshiram's head lies on top of a long neck (with two ring-like features near its base), and it has blue eyes with black pupils and a long muzzle. Two long furry tendrils flow from the forehead, giving the illusion of long wavy hair. Its arms and its wings are one and the same, akin to a Noivern, though Reshiram is often depicted as holding its arms high. The dragon's six fingers and two thumbs are shown as claws at the tips of the wings. Behind the hands are four feather-like protrusions.

Reshiram has two thick legs, the thighs of which have four more feathery protrusions. Its feet have three claws on the front, and an extra claw on the heels. Chest fur is prominent on the dragon, as is a large protrusion near its base. Despite attracting numerous sniggers from historians due to its placement, nothing suggests that the protrusion is genitalia (it is highly likely that Reshiram cannot breed).

The tail, like Zekrom's, resembles a conical turbine. However, the "cone" tapers out as it gets farther from the body, and resembles two sets of feathers within a pair of rings. From the center of the tail, a long, flexible furry tail emerges. Overall, Reshiram has a more natural appearance opposed to the technological-looking Zekrom.

Lore and History

Reshiram is a prominent player in the legends of the Unova region, along with its counterpart Zekrom. The story, as the legends go, begins with a powerful Dragon Pokémon who created and shaped the region. It was owned by two brothers who jointly ruled the region together. However, the brothers were driven by two differing beliefs - the elder believed in truth, the younger believed in ideals. Once the arguing devolved into fighting over who was right, the dragon flew up into the sky, then returned as two Dragon Pokémon - Zekrom and Reshiram; the latter of whom sided with the brother who believed in truth (as a side note, recent events have come to light suggesting that Kyurem, a dragon living in the Giant Chasm, was also formed as part of this fission). The two fought, but neither one could overpower the other, as both were evenly matched. The brothers decided that neither side was right, and peace resumed.

The brothers then had sons, who later became the new rulers of Unova and masters of the dragons. These two, however, were not as willing to compromise as their fathers, and the two went to war against each other with their respective dragons, with the whole of Unova caught in the crossfire as it was devastated by Reshiram's flames and Zekrom's lightning. Eventually, the war ceased once both sides realised what they had done, and both decided the dragons were too dangerous to remain active and had to be forevermore sealed away. Utilising a device that was made to merge the two back into one (with no success), the dragons' bodies were destroyed and reformed into two stones - the Dark and Light Stones. One stone was hidden within Dragonspiral Tower, the other within Relic Castle. Which stone was put where differs from story to story.

Another legend states that one day, during a period of strife, a hero would arise to revive the dragons, upon which time they would resume their battle.

Known Sightings

Reshiram remained a legend for a long time, until a noteable instance in Unova where N, the king of the anti-Pokémon Trainer organization Team Plasma, successfully awoke one of the two dragons atop Dragonspiral Tower, while a young Pokémon trainer received a stone excavated from Relic Castle and donated to the Nacrene Museum. Alas, it is unclear as to the identity of the dragons, and which one was Reshiram and which one was Zekrom. With his dragon, N would become champion of the Unova League and, as the legendary hero, order all Pokémon Trainers to release their Pokémon. When Team Plasma's castle appeared around the Pokémon League, the trainer's stone became the other dragon. Eventually, N's plot was foiled, and neither he, the trainer, nor the two dragons, were seen again. Though reports of a large dragon flying over the world were infrequent, the identity was still unclear.

Two years after that event, however, another trainer claimed to have encountered N and his dragon (it was never specified if the dragon was indeed Reshiram or not) - whereupon the dragon was unwillingly absorbed by the "third" dragon, Kyurem, as a "power-up" as part of a resurgent Team Plasma's plan to conquer Unova. Though Kyurem and Team Plasma were defeated, N later gave the trainer his dragon in its stone form after a battle. They claimed to have reformed the dragon, but did not say where it is now. It is currently assumed that the dragon is free in the wild.

Interestingly, at least five years before the above events occured, one man in Hoenn said he had seen a portal on an island far away. He claimed to have had a strong Pokémon with several levels of experience on him at the time, and upon looking through the portal saw a large dragon. He was so shocked that his memory was affected, but he claimed it was one of the legendary dragons from Unova's legends. The recent events disproved his claims for a long time, as it would be impossible for Reshiram and Zekrom to be there while resting as stones in Unova. However, it is theorised that the portals (thought to be connected to the recently discovered Mythical Pokémon Hoopa) are capable of bending space and time, thus he was looking into either the future or the past, where the two dragons were active.

Abilities

Reshiram is able to breathe immensely hot flames capable of scorching the world. Notably, Reshiram appears to rely more on special attacks, as opposed to the more physically oriented Zekrom. Aside from the standard Fire attacks such as Flamethrower, Fire Fang and Fire Blast, Reshiram knows two attacks currently not known by any other - Fusion Flare and Blue Flare. With Fusion Flare, Reshiram can create a large ball of fire that it shoots at foes, leaving a devastating crater in its wake. Legends say that if used in the presence of Zekrom's similar Fusion Bolt attack or its Bolt Strike move, Fusion Flare's power doubles. Blue Flare allows Reshiram to breathe an intense flame that can inflict severe burns on its target.

Reshiram is capable of flight, but its wings aren't used in this - rather, its tail is used as a jet engine to let it fly at high speeds. It also possesses some psychic capabilities, as it has been said to be able to use Extrasensory and communicate via telepathy. Befitting its draconic nature, it knows several Dragon type moves such as Dragon Pulse, Dragon Breath and Outrage. Finally, Reshiram possesses the Turboblaze ability, another aspect unique to it. With it, Reshiram's tail and the tips of its tendrils glow red, and abilities that would otherwise affect its attacks would not work. For instance, a Pokémon with Levitate (granting it immunity from Ground attacks) can still be hit with an Earthquake from it.

Hazards

Reshiram is known to be a very strong Pokémon with devastating power, making it a very dangerous Pokémon to confront. However, it would appear it largely keeps to itself and causes no trouble for anyone. However, its legendary rivalry with Zekrom has raised concerns about what would happen if the two were ever to meet again, and if the two dragons would fight again, devastating all in their path. Fortunately, it is said that if Reshiram were to see the qualities of a hero of truth, it would be its willing servant. However, only one such candidate (N and/or another trainer) has been recognised, so unless you are them, you would be better off staying away.

Other

Kyurem is able to use Reshiram to become White Kyurem - merging its abilities with those of the ice dragon's. For more information on White Kyurem, refer to Kyurem's entry.

Kyurem

Morphs [Oak Catalog #]

  • Kyurem [646]
  • Black Kyurem [646-B]
  • White Kyurem [646-W]

Physical Description

Kyurem, in its most recogniseable form, is a large, frail-looking Ice/Dragon Pokémon with gray skin and large portions of its body covered in thick ice. It walks with its body parallel to the ground. Kyurem's slender neck has three blue spines on top of it, and its head is covered in ice, noticeably its jaw, which is frozen shut and cannot move, though its lower teeth are exposed. Its yellow eyes lack pupils and a yellow diamond is present on its forehead. Its wings are covered in ice, with two icicles coming from the sides of each one. Noticeably, the right wing is smaller than the left. Below the wings are two small arms, with two icicles acting as claws. Its tail, also frozen with ice, resembles a plug. Its two powerful legs have feet with icicles as claws, three on each foot. The abundance of ice on Kyurem is believed to be the result of freezing energy leaking out of holes from within Kyurem's body.

As Black Kyurem, Kyurem takes on a hunched posture and some of Zekrom's characteristics, such as black scales and increased muscle mass. Kyurem's eyes take on black pupils with blue irises, and the ice on its jaw partially melts, revealing a pointy black extension on its chin and allowing the jaw to move. Kyurem's right horn takes on the appearance of Zektom's head tendril, and its wings and arms become replicas of Zekrom's (though the left wing, shoulder and forearm/hand are covered in/made of ice). The tips of its former wings are relocated to its shoulders, and the tendrils (attatched to clear tubes) can plug into its tail to activate Teravolt (turning parts of its body blue as a result). Its tail changes drastically, becoming a more organic and flexible version of Zekrom's tail. Its middle toes are covered in ice.

As White Kyurem, it stands upright and takes on Reshiram's characteristics, sprouting white fur over most of its gray skin. The ice on the sides of its head disappears, allowing Kyurem to move its jaw. Like with Black Kyurem, White Kyurem gains blue irises. The horn on its left is replaced with one of Reshiram's long tendrils, and its arms become longer and more humanoid than Reshiram's, with more defined hands and grey rings aroud the left wrist and under the left shoulder. The forearms replicate Reshiram's wingtips (though the right arm and shoulder is frozen and the wing is smaller. As with Black Kyurem, its former wingtips move to its shoulders, where the two icicles can plug into the tail to activate Turboblaze (shown via certain areas on the body glowing red/orange). Said tail becomes a grey cone with a large bushy tail coming from its base. The legs each have a blade of ice over them, and the middle toes are once more covered in ice.

Lore and History

Within Lacunosa Town in Unova, a folk tale is told by the elder residents - long ago, an object (thought to have been a meteorite) crashed near Lacunosa Town, creating an area that would later be known as the "Giant Chasm". The area turned deathly cold, and a monster emerged from the fog. Kyurem had come to Earth, and it was very hungry. It came to Lacunosa Town in the dead of night, snatched several of the populace and returned to its lair, where the unfortunate victims were eaten alive. A wall was hastily built to keep Kyurem out, and a curfew was imposed upon the town. Though it is nowadays thought to be just a simple "bogeyman" story, the residents still believe it to some degree, as Lacunosa's streets are deserted at night.

Recent events and information from Opelucid City's Mayor and Gym Leader, Drayden, would suggest Kyurem is a bigger legend than previously thought - according to him, when the legendary Dragon Pokémon who created the region became Zekrom and Reshiram, a leftover husk remained in orbit, and subsequently developed a life of its own, and this dragon was Kyurem. The fraility of Kyurem's normal form compared to the power of Zekrom and Reshiram support this theory, but it is unclear how Kyurem came to life to begin with. A popular theory is that when splitting, the dragon chose to leave its negative thoughts and emotions behind, and Kyurem is the result of these abandoned concepts.

Known Sightings

Kyurem currently resides within the Giant Chasm outside Lacunosa Town, and emerges from there from time to time.

Kyurem recently became the subject of an attempt at conquest by Team Plasma, who captured Kyurem and used it to power their Plasma Frigate. With its power, half of Unova was frozen in a gambit to boost its power - first by stealing the mysterious DNA Splicers from Drayden, then by luring former Plasma king N and one of the legendary dragons in his possession to the Giant Chasm, where Kyurem fused with it to become either Black or White Kyurem. Fortunately, Kyurem was defeated and the dragon freed from its body with the help of a young trainer from Aspertia City.

At least 7 years ago, an area within Hoenn's Mt. Chimney called the Gnarled Den experienced unusually cold pressure, with ice even forming on the ground. A portal was there, and those who saw it claim to have heard a cold draconic cry from it, but nothing could make the portal react. It is theorised this portal somehow linked up to the Giant Chasm, and that Kyurem could emerge from the portal if given an incentive (such as sensing the presence of both Unova dragons on the other side).

Abilities

Kyurem, though stronger than most Pokémon, has been noted to be very weak and frail compared to its supposed "brothers". It continuously generates a freezing cold energy inside its body, giving it the power to use Ice moves like Blizzard, Ice Beam and Icy Wind. This energy continuously leaks out, however, creating the frozen appearance it is well known for. Among Kyurem's icy abilities is its signature Glaciate attack, which uses cold air to lower an enemy's speed. Like all Dragon Pokémon, Kyurem can learn Dragon-type moves like Draco Meteor and Outrage. Kyurem is also able to fly, despite its frozen wings. Kyurem is known to emit a force that can cause Pokémon to use more energy in their attacks, thus tiring them out quicker.

With the DNA Splicers, Kyurem is able to turn either Zekrom or Reshiram into the Dark and Light Stones and absorb them (via a process called "Absofusion") to take on their capabilities and powers. This ability lends further credence to the idea that Kyurem is part of the legendary dragon of Unova. However, Kyurem is only ever able to have one dragon in it at a time. Furthermore, Kyurem remains the dominant Pokémon in the fusion, instead of becoming a new Pokémon that is an equal merge of Kyurem and the dragon.

As Black Kyurem, its muscle mass increases dramatically, and it gains Zekrom's power over lightning, as well as its signature Fusion Bolt, allowing it to surround itself with electricity and slam into a target (if Fusion Flare or Blue Flare is used near it, the move's power doubles). Glaciate is replaced with a new move - Freeze Shock. With it, Black Kyurem slowly charges some ice with electricity, then fires it at the target. The ice can often paralyse a target with its volts. Kyurem also gains access to Zekrom's Teravolt, negating the abilities of Pokémon that affect its moves.

White Kyurem, however, gets a boost to its special abilities, and Reshiram's fire powers are under its control. This allows Kyurem to use Reshiram's Fusion Flare to create a large ball of flame that doubles in power if Bolt Strike or Fusion Bolt is used near it, and another new signature move in lieu of Glaciate - Ice Burn. After slowly charging energy, Kyurem emits a freezing cold wind that can burn its targets. Like with Black Kyurem, Whte Kyurem can use Reshiram's ability - in this case, Turboblaze, which has the same effect as Teravolt.

Hazards

Kyurem has been said to eat humans - while its frozen jaw makes that claim doubtful, Kyurem's powerful Ice attacks make it a force to be reckoned with. Even though Kyurem remains in the Giant Chasm, and although it is arguably weaker than an ordinary Haxorus or Hydreigon, it is advised that trainers not battle it, or at the very least take care when doing so. Kyurem has several weaknesses as an Ice/Dragon type, meaning a good strong Pokémon should handle it.

As Black/White Kyurem, however, it is noted to be one of the most powerful non-Mega Evolved Pokémon - some believe its power is but a fraction of that of Arceus, the Pokémon who is said to have made the universe in the legends of Sinnoh. Though it is unlikely Kyurem will be seen in this form, it is advised that any challengers stay well away from it, lest they risk serious injury and/or death.

Other

The DNA Splicers, which allow Kyurem to become Black and White Kyurem, were a man-made item designed to fuse Zekrom and Reshiram back into the original dragon Pokémon, but was only successful in turning them into stones. It is theorised Kyurem itself can become a stone too, but it is yet to be confirmed (some have taken to calling this hypothetical item the "God Stone").

And here's Hoopa:

Hoopa

Morphs [Oak Catalog #]

  • Hoopa Confined [720-C]
  • Hoopa Unbound [720-U]

Physical Description

Hoopa is a pink and grey creature wielding two large rings with arms separate from its own body. In its Confined state, it resembles a small ghost with a pink ponytail, a ring-like extension below the torso, a wispy tail in lieu of feet, mitten-like hands with no distinct fingers and two black horns on either side of its head. Its eyes are green with white pupils and yellow sclerea, and it has two markings on its cheeks similar to those of Mr. Mime. Its mouth is almost always in a mischievous grin.

In its true, "Unbound" state, Hoopa changes dramatically, becoming more monstrous and draconian. Its size increases to gargantuan proportions, going from just under two feet to being as tall as a Gyarados stretched from end to end. Where once a mischievous grin was, there is a fearsome maw with razor sharp teeth and large fangs emerging from the beast's lower jaw (which now appears to have a beard-like extension). Its ponytail becomes even larger, as does its horns. The body is no longer dwarfed by the head, becoming immense and muscular with two black spikes on either side, and four open holes above and below each one. A large ring appears on its chest, the interior of which is almost totally black. The tail is long and lizard-like, and Hoopa now has legs, the toes of which are pointed upwards like old Eastern shoes. Its floating arms now total to six, all of which are muscular, have three claws, and have a black spike where an elbow would be. To top it off, several more rings appear all over the ogre's body, including its horns, arms and ankles.

Lore and History

Not much is known about Hoopa outside of the legends told of its exploits. Many years ago, it used its immense power to travel to anywhere in the world, steal whatever it desired, and send the loot to its secret lair - hidden within a desert. Many aristocrats, villages, noblemen and royalty became victims of the monster's plundering, and due to Hoopa's powers, not only was fighting back nigh impossible, but once it disappeared, so too did all hope of recovering the stolen treasure. Tales tell of it stealing entire castles, palaces and even islands with its reality warping rings. At least once or twice, it also used its powers to bring two or more Legendary Pokémon together and pit them against each other for its own amusement, damned be any settlements caught in between.

This, it seems, ended up being the final straw, as one day, a mysterious person sought to put an end to Hoopa's reign of terror. Knowing they had no hope of defeating the beast in a fair fight, they instead used the power of fire, water and the earth itself to craft a mystic bottle designed to imprison it and its power. Some accounts claim the power of Arceus itself was used in this mysterious ritual. Then, when Hoopa appeared one night, the person confronted the beast and claimed it was a strength-boosting potion. Through this, they managed to trick the beast into opening the bottle, subsequently falling under its spell and being drawn inside. Before it could be completely sealed inside, however, Hoopa threw the bottle away and retreated to parts unknown, now a smaller being of far less power. The bottle was recovered, and to ensure Hoopa's power could never return, it was passed on between numerous world travellers, never staying in the same place at any given time.

Following this, legends of Hoopa are few, seemingly indicating it became more cautious from then on. They are no less impressive, however, implying Hoopa simply became more sneaky in its plans, rather than using fear and terror as it did back when it was at full power, and that its space-distorting rings weren't affected by the bottle. The legend of Hoopa's Oasis of Wonders, however, never faded, and many expeditions were sent in search of it, with not one yielding a single result. These days, many doubt its existence, but economic experts theorise that the contents of Hoopa's lair would make the Pokémon far richer than both Silph Co. and the Devon Corporation a hundred thousand times over.

Known Sightings

Hoopa, as a Mythical Pokémon, has not been seen by many and its existence is hotly debated. In recent years, however, one story has emerged of an organisation who plotted to use Hoopa's powers for their own benefit. Coming across the creature by some means, they soon learned the folly of their ways when their equipment and riches began vanishing one by one. This slowly made them paranoid, so much so that they resorted to boarding themselves up inside their headquarters. When they re-emerged, however, they found that the entire building had been sent straight into the middle of a desert. Said organisation, as well as any information they may have had on Hoopa, was never heard from again.

Abilities

Hoopa has been told to have displayed great psychokinetic power, indicating that the being is a Psychic type. In its original form, Hoopa was said to have been pure evil due to its avarice and greed, as other Psychics couldn't sense it. Historians have taken this to mean that it was also a Dark type. Interestingly, one story supposedly told after the incident with the "Prison Bottle" tells of a king encountering Hoopa Confined in the treasury and attempting to throttle the Pokémon, only to find that his hands phased through it as if it weren't there. From this, it is believed that the Prison Bottle's incomplete sealing rendered Hoopa incorporeal, giving it the properties of a Ghost type (as an aside, this state seems to have affected its personality; becoming more mischievous than malevolent). A man who claims to have owned the Prison Bottle once has said that, if it were ever opened, Hoopa would return to its full power and be free of its weaker Confined state. However, the Bottle is supposedly enchanted so that after three days have passed, Hoopa Unbound's power would return to the Prison Bottle and render Hoopa Confined again. It is thought that if the Prison Bottle were broken, Hoopa's Unbound power would permanently return to it.

Hoopa's most notable power, however, is the kind displayed by its bizarre rings. Since it was said to have appeared and disappeared from its raids almost instantly, the prevailing theory on how this was possible is that Hoopa is able to manipulate space to travel from one place to another via hyperspace. This is how its two most notable moves received their names - Hyperspace Hole and Hyperspace Fury. The former lets it transport itself and anything else from one place to another, and when confronted, legend has it that it appears next to its target and strikes them. Due to the reality-warping nature of it, it will always strike, no matter how evasive the target is, or how hampered Hoopa's accuracy is. Not even moves like Protect or Detect will save a target.

Hyperspace Fury, however, is a move only ever seen used by Hoopa's Unbound state. Sending four of its arms into hyperspace rings, it flings them at a target, surrounding them. The arms then fly in and out of the rings at high speeds, pummeling the target with immense force several times over. Often, Hoopa will appear in a ring above the target and mock them. Like Hyperspace Hole, nothing can stop Hyperspace Fury from striking a foe, but it seems Hoopa's defense is lowered as a consequence, since lore claims attacks hurt it a lot more after it used the technique.

Most curious is its supposed connection to the ring-like portals found in the mysterious "mirage spots" of the Hoenn region - some travellers have encountered unknown areas that few else have been able to find, all of which have a mysterious giant ring in place, similar to those used by Hoopa. Those who have seen inside these claim to have encountered Pokémon famed in legends from other regions, such as Sinnoh's lake guardians or Unova's Swords of Justice, matching up with the tales of Hoopa summoning legendary Pokémon to battle for its amusement. As such, it is thought these encounters were set up by Hoopa so that strong Trainers may confront them and entertain it. Most odd, however, are the supposed claims of one spot containing Pokémon whose descriptions match those of Zekrom and Reshiram, ocurring roughly five years before the two dragons were revived in Unova during an attempted takeover plot by Team Plasma. Those who believe these claims theorise that Hoopa's rings are also capable of bending time itself, sending one from one period in history to another. Due to the difficulty in finding these areas, however, further research into these phenomena is highly unlikely.

Hazards

Hoopa Confined is said to be very mischievous, preferring to play pranks and tricks on its foes. Trainers who should happen to find Hoopa must be wary of it, especially of its Magician Ability, which lets it steal whatever its target may be holding. Its hyperspace abilities let it appear and disappear anywhere it wants almost instantly, making it adept at surprise attacks. Trainers are also advised not to keep anything valuable on them, lest Hoopa take an interest in it and steal it. This goes double for Trainers who wear expensive jewellery and clothes. However, Hoopa would be doubly weak to Ghost and Dark type attacks, so such Pokémon are best advised for this situation.

While it is even more unlikely that one will encounter Hoopa Unbound, those who do had better be well prepared, lest they receive a brutal beatdown, mocking and (in some cases) stripping of everything including the clothes on their back. While Unbound, Hoopa is believed to go beyond being a simple prankster, becoming a bully who enjoys using fear and its power to get whatever it desires. Bug types, however, were said to be the one type that came close to defeating in ancient legends; physical attackers such as Scizor and Heracross were noted as being able to ward Hoopa off from an attempted raid on Kalos' royal palace, suggesting that the monster cannot take strong physical blows well. Such Pokémon are advised in this (albeit unlikely) encounter.

Other

The story of Hoopa's supposed imprisonment, muddied through time as it spread, became the source of inspiration for many fables and stories, giving rise to the djinn, or "genie", a magical being imprisoned in a bottle (though a lamp or ring is not uncommon) who, when freed, is obligated to grant their "master" a number of wishes, often three. It is also thought that the word "hoopla" (something loud/attention grabbing) is descended from Hoopa Unbound's ancient raids, when people would cry the beast's name as a warning. So I was looking through the general article about types, and have an idea for the Fighting Type article.

Powers

Fighting Types' instinctive knowledge of martial arts techniques allow them to find and weaknesses in opponent's bodies and assaulting such nerve points with precise movements, but the main driving force behind their attacks is the production and manipulation of Aura. While the Riolu line is the only line of Fighting types whose Aura is always visible, all Fighting Type attacks are imbued with this energy. While mainly used to harden the Pokémon's strikes, some Fighting type moves, such as Aura Sphere and Focus Blast, are achieved by direct manipulation of Aura into beams. Normal and Dark types are highly susceptible to Aura itself, and the Rock, Ice, and Steel types' normally solid defenses don't stand a chance against a Fighting Type's hardened bones. For all the advantage Aura gives them, however, it is largely ineffective against Psychic and Fairy energies, which also tend to foul up the flow of Aura in a Fighting Pokemon's body. Flying Types' manipulation of Wind resistance allow them to reduce damage from Aura based attacks by dispersing the effect throughout their bodies instead of having them focused on one area. Likewise, Bug types' stuff exoskeletons tend to refract and redirect Aura strikes. Ghost type Pokémon are immune to Aura attacks, and Fighting type moves, Much like Normal type moves, simply pass through them.
