Just watched the first episode. Having not read the manga, I had no clue what to expect. But, I thought it was pretty awesome in a Beyond the Impossible kind of way. Fanservice and High-Pressure Blood galore. It'll probably be my favorite anime of the summer; I don't think I've seen many first episodes that were this good.
I don't like Panty Shots, but looks like I'll have to suffer the first episode for this.
I've read the manga. Not all of it, obviously, so this'll be something I'll... totally legally watch.

Half-Life: Dual Nature, a crossover story of reasonably sized proportions.http://www.theanimenetwork.com/Anime/Highschool-of-the-Dead/Episode-1/Watch
Totally legal stream of the first episode (provided your registered).
Its not working. Anywhere else I can find it?
Since when were you under the impression that I was Aizen?Well... I'm kinda "Meh" on this, I'm a fan of Resident Evil and the Evil Dead series, and Horror in general, but I don't like fanservice mixed in with my Horror, and I don't like teen protagonists in my Horror.
I'll probably keep watching, but I don't think there's anything it can really do to impress me.
That all aside... Rei already annoys me, typical Too Dumb to Live Damsel in Distress, Load girl, boring.
She gets better in the manga and isn't even close to that at all. This anime and manga is meant to show how a person can change after soemthing as horrifying as this. And there are reasons that teenagers are the main rotagonists in this.
Read the manga a bit too.
And You'll Love Kouta Hirano in this. Trust me.

Since when were you under the impression that I was Aizen?Wow, the Gainaxing in this thing really seemed a bit much. Even the school nurse appeared to be sleeping on top of her own gigantic breasts. I know zombie flicks are a kind of exploitation film, but...damn. How do some girls in this show deal with the awful back pain?
I know, I know, animu physics. Hopefully it'll pick up plot-wise in the next couple of episodes.

^ The guy who made the manga draws H manga as his night job. Thats probably why. He Even asked the director of the anime (The same director as Death Note, ironically enough) to make it that way.

Since when were you under the impression that I was Aizen? Will watch this before going to sleep. Will post comments tomorrow.
My FF.net accountThis is just the beginning. It Grows the Beard at around the time we see the little girl from the opening.
Since when were you under the impression that I was Aizen? If it follows the manga, there's not really a plot per se. Or at least that much of one. It's more of a character driven story, as they kinda go from one place to the next, trying to survive.
That said, even with the OMG excessive fan service (I mean really. It made the manga look tame), it was a really well done episode, considering the subject matter. Even not concerning it, it was very good.
Democracy is the process in which we determine the government that we deserveThey pretty much followed the manga. They did add in more panty shots then I would have liked, but everyone was clearly in character. Would have liked a higher pitched male-lead voice, but meh.
@Billabong: She is like that at the start. But, as you saw, it is reasonable for some people to react like that at the start here. Don't worry, she will eventually be killing "them" left and right. (manga semi-spoiler) At least she never comes to enjoy it like the main Action Girl. The Action Girl qualifies as a psychopath at times whenever she fights.
EDIT: Glad it is living up to the hype I gave it earlier. I realized that, in talking about the manga, there was a very good chance I was going to give Hype Backlash to myself (let alone others).

Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!@Demon God Of Chaos: If you just wait like a week you can watch it without being registered.
Some one Uploaded it to youtube any how, and I saw it. Its pretty accurate to the manga. The panty shots are justified at times since everyone is panicking and running away from zombies and shit.

Since when were you under the impression that I was Aizen?^I really don't see how that's a justification. I mean, there are some downright malicious camera angles.
My only real complaint after watching the first episode is that the panty shots are jarring. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't insist on putting them in otherwise dramtic moments.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."^Yeah. I'm hoping that they just did that for the pilot, and hopefully it'll be less jarring. If they follow the story, they don't need it. There's enough of the sexay that you don't need to be doing stupid camera angles.
Democracy is the process in which we determine the government that we deserveJust watched it. I'm sorry but extreme amounts of Gorn mixed with the same amount of Fanservice really doesn't mesh for me. I'm skipping this series.
GOH! JII! RAH!^^^Yeah, that kinda struck me as a bit jarring as well. The situations where it'd only be logical, such as the stairwell and possibly the helicopter weren't that bad in that regard though.
And Shizuka has, without a doubt, one of the sole biggest racks I've ever seen in an anime or manga.

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialI watched the first episode. I really liked it. And honestly, the fanservice was less than I expected considering how much all of you were talking about it.
Will continue watching, hopefully CoalGuys keeps subbing it.
^^ What about Eiken? The trope page pic seems to disagree...
Anyway, just here to ditto what everyone else has said about excessive fanservice...but I think the coolness of zombies outweighs my dislike of the panty/boob shots.
I liked that song that started playing once Takashi started to change. Nevermind— I found out it was the theme song of 28 Weeks Later.
Still though, is there any female character that doesn't have a D-cup or larger...?

Tumblr here.The twin tailed girl.
And the little girl.
Outside of that, nope, every female.
The guy who does the manga does H-doujins as his night job.
Since when were you under the impression that I was Aizen?... Are we watching the same show? She has a bigger set than Rei from what I saw.
^^Believe it or not, Eiken is the only reason I said "one of". Eiken is just... wow. That shit crosses right into the goddamn Uncanny Valley and keeps right on going...

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialOh god, this is creepy. And not in the Zombie Apocalypse way, in the 'the author has major issues with females' way. Imma skip this one.
The fanservice should not affect the main plot at all. I admit the boob sizes are... impractical/artificial, but the main reason I like the Manga is how the plot is laid out. If all it had for it was the boobs, I would have stopped paying attention to it long ago.
Ok, It is lampshaded/used a few times, but for humor.

Getting a head start on a couple of this season's shows that I have been reading the manga versions of. I expect that this one and Nurarihyon No Mago will have enough discussion to warrant threads.
So, who has been reading High School Of The Dead? And what are your thoughts on it?
It might not have much translated at this point, but I must say I am impressed by what has happened.
(and yes, I did just copy/paste this :P)
