Man the Lump of Horrors is just the WORST.
Secret SignatureCorrect.
It's been 3000 yearsβ¦Is that Ruler of the sky I hear in the distance
New theme music also a boxThere's quite a few interesting things you can do in that fight once you learn it. Like so:
Like spam shotlocks while it's T-posing, that works.
Secret SignatureSome pages ago, people are discussing what Xehanort VA is the best,I like more the Remind one because he sounds more evil, but the way he pronounces Scalla ad Caellum makes he sounds like a comic relief Hades style I don't know why.

Does anyone other than me kind of... not like the fact that Yozora is an actual character in the game?
I mean, in the Toy Story world, the bits with Yozora seemed like one of the only times this series has ever been the least bit self-aware. It's pretty much the only time the series has ever come close to acknowledging that it's all pretty darn silly, and I really appreciated it. The intentional juxtaposition between the Toy Story characters and the rather surreal anime concepts of Kingdom Hearts was definitely one of the funnier bits of KHIII.
But when Yozora actually turns up in the secret ending and is then set up as an important character, it totally ruins the joke. Now he's not a parody of a ridiculously overcooked Final Fantasy anime protagonist, he's an actual example of one. And Nomura's effort to shove in his discarded ideas from Final Fantasy into Kingdom Hearts just comes off as incredibly self-indulgent.
I'm fine with it, myself. He was never meant to be a parody in the first place.
And I'd rather have a self indulgent director then a crappy one.

Watch SymphogearThe Toy Story world sure seems to treat him as a parody. I mean, when we're given these context-less glimpses into Final Fantasy-esque melodrama and when his video game is treated in-universe as a Merchandise-Driven stand-in for the Final Fantasy franchise, it sure seems to nudge the viewer into thinking of Yozora and his world as a tongue-in-cheek self-parody. Which is totally at odds with making him a real person with an important role to play.
Like, if you want Yozora to be taken seriously, then why introduce him in such a jokey way?
And I dunno, this kind of self-indulgence isn't much different from "crappiness" in my book. When you're just shoving disparate concepts into a story they weren't designed for because you're salty about not getting to use them where you intended... that's self-indulgence at the expense of the story, not a constructive repurposing of discarded concepts.

I'm personally not bothered by Yozora because he opens up an interesting path for the story to go down.
It's been 3000 yearsβ¦I don't like Yozura either. He's way too serious and standard without any irony or charm to him. He's a big reason why I don't really care about how the next game is going to turn out.
Good superboss, though. Apparently. I have like no desire to fight him since I don't want to do the superbosses unless it's on Critical. And I have negative drive to replay the game on Critical to get there.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I can't be bothered by yozora because I went in knowing he was real so when I got to the toy box I just took the verum rex sequence at facee value.
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."I mean the Toy Story world also features Dissidia NT advertising, and that just raises all hell about KH's cosmology considering Leon, Cloud, Sephiroth, Aerith, Tifa, Tidus, and Yuna area all characters in it.
Even more hell in Tidus and Yuna's case, because they respectively exist in KH as a Destiny Islander and weird fairy thing that Nomura must've been doing lines when he thought up, and yet we also have Auron who is strongly implied to be the actual Auron from FFX.
Best in this case to just not think about it and accept whatever shows up on screen.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyI initially liked him better as a parody, but I've kinda warmed up to the idea. Or at least stopped being annoyed about it. I'm less interested in him and more in whatever plot stuff goes along with him, though.
I'm interested in the upcoming stuff to some extent, but it's only because of what it might mean about characters I'm already attached to.

I like the weird meta clusterfuck. It's so very Kingdom Hearts.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I'm not interested in the new stuff to be perfectly honest.

A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh. Not super interested in Not!Noctis.
I have no interest in Yozora. Other people see interesting new path, I just see Nomura being wank-y.
"Wank-y" is an interesting describer.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.I want to zero in on this line, because this assertion isn't actually true at all. There are lots of moments of self aware-ness in KH3. Luxord and Vexen getting confused about the difference between a literal and metaphysical heart. Axel complaining about how confusing the plot is, and later saying that he can't be killed off because he's too popular. Sora complaining about how repetitive the Frozen world was. Larxene accusing the new Organization of being a re-hash.
The post I'm quoting from also includes the rather odd assertion that Yozora being a character who matters to the story means that he can't be a parody. When the truth is that the fact that he was introduced a parody is naturally going to cast everything he ever does and says in a different light- we've always laughed at the melodrama is this series to some extent, but here's a case where we've been told to take the melodrama as intentionally comedic, so we're obviously gonna keep mocking him.

I think it's reasonable that some have been alienated by the Yozora plot. Compare this secret ending with what's been given before. The previous secret endings have still been recognisably "KH" while adding something new to ponder. Now we have a replica of a Versus XIII trailer.
Personally, I'm excited to see what comes next. Makes me think of how Rumours by Fleetwood Mac was made.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.Vexen, who's basically an in-universe otaku for the series' bizarre metaphysics, still having no idea what Davy Jones would be classified as according to said metaphysics was one of the most amusing moments of 2019 to me.
this was still recognizably kh. in face yozora spouting shit neither sora nor us understands is peak kh
