At least they give you a break between the illusion fight and the actual Marluxia fight, even if the second and third phases don't give you a break between them, too.

the landmasses that are the kh worlds did exist back during the khux time and before but it was all connected on one huge landmass so they still needed to go into data versions because it was easier than going there is person. and then something happens that will split the world

I prefer his old Keyblade. It just looks so much more distinctive.

Very reassuring that they already started development. Let's hope that there are no unforeseen complications like the switch from Luminous to Unreal Engine 4 in KHIII's development.

When do we realistically think the next game could come out? 2023/2024? That would give them a four-to-five-year-development cycle, which I feel like has become pretty much the norm for these sorts of productions.

A major release in 23/24 sounds about what I'd expect.

Could be inbetween-y games before then.

Well Marluxia originally only had two

The Illusion and then the Mech

granted if Re Com had succumbed to full KH 3 end boss madness

You'd have had the Illusion, Real Marluxia - on the ground-, then the Spectre Mech, some interval where you have to fight His Reaper nobodies and then Reaper Marluxia

The series' 20th anniversary is in March 2022, which could be primetime to release a smaller game. But then again, the console landscape has very much changed when compared to the timeframe between KHII and KHIII.

We don't have dedicated handhelds anymore. The closest would be the Switch and even that is way closer to the PS4 than the PSP or DS. Unless Square outsources the development of a smaller side-game like they did with 358/2 Days and Re:coded, I don't think we can expect the volume of games we've gotten in the late 00's/early 10's.

Likewise the kids and teens who played Kingdom Hearts on their P S2s are becoming adults and now have kids of their own.

im guessing kh sibuya shinjuku switch for the switch to come out in 22 for the aniversary

Nice to know that things are going at a steady pace again. And if there are fewer games between main installments, that's not a bad thing.

Chi is still going strong and the handheld market has basically become the mobile market.

I wonder if they'll be developing KHIV alongside the intermediate games.

I wonder what it'll look like. This is just me, but I think a KH game (not necessarily the entire new direction for the series, just the one game) that let the Disney stuff take more of a backseat and focused on the original story as well as the core gameplay, maybe with a soft-reboot of getting Sora back and not too much focus on the Myth Arc, so as to make it easier for newcomers to the series, could be a good idea.

I found this picture of Aqua, Terra, and Ventus in traditional Japanese clothing and armor and it looks cool.

I'm all for it since Disney apparently has a bigger vicegrip on their IPs more than usual. Don't want their meddling ruining anything.

That, and now that III has finally come and gone, Square Enix has to recapture both the magic and get some newcomers to replace those who got their closure and left.

Yeah, sadly Disney's grubby fingers were felt all over III to its detriment.

Game Theory even had a video about how Disney's Executive Meddling may have screwed up the Arendelle level.
