Square Enix really don't do consistency in casting. They don't really care that much if an actor has no prior VA experience. Have a look at the cast of Final Fantasy XII, it's a real mixed bag. You have Nolan North alongside Elijah Alexander for who Vayne is their only VA credit to this day.

I did not anticipate Ursula being this much of a witch at level one.

I do not have enough MP for the fucking cauldron.

Eels in the way does not help.

Maybe just put Atlantica on hold and do it after getting a Keyblade with more MP? Like that one you get from Merlin after learning every spell.

Going to the voice actor topic, I have a feeling Lance Bass was cast by Disney, along with other celebrities like Mandy Moore as Aerith, Billy Zane as Xehan-artless, Christopher Lee as Di Z (Ansem the Wise), and of course, Haley Joel Osment as Sora.

Although he never dubbed the new cutscenes in KH 1 Final Mix, I have to imagine what he sounded like if he did any work in 2, because it was a bit hard to hear him while fighting him.

Thanks for reminding me why Square pulled Nomura out of the main Final Fantasy games' development and put Hajime Tabata to save the project and turn Versus XIII into Final Fantasy XV.

I forgot Nomura had the ability of going full schizophrenic.

Giant Ursula was so annoying, constantly sucking me in with her breath, which I never could seem to avoid much.

I hate how they give you that super swim ability right before giant Ursula, that you need to use once to get to the door to her boss and immediately remove that ability so you don't use it by accident during the fight.

I'm pretty sure you need Dolphin Kick to escape Ursula's sucking in and biting attack.

...Unless she's like Young Xehanort in BBS where her AI changes based on what abilities you have equipped.

So the big problem I'm running into is to get Spellbinder I need to beat either the Phil Cup or Oogie's Manner, and for both of them I don't have enough AOE damage without Thundara, and to beat Ursula and get Thundara I need Spellbinder.

Also no way in hell am I going to Ursula after Riku-Ansem, because then she gets double the hp.

Unless you're level 1, I think you'd absolutely be at a high enough level to beat the Phill Cup, if you've escaped from Monstro.

Afterall, that's when the Pegasus Cup gets unlocked.

Anyway, thanks to Synthesis grinding (which is difficult without lucky strike but not impossible) I have an Atlas Armlet, so. Overall I've gotten my MP to 6.

...The way damage works in KH 1 is garbage to begin with, frankly.

EDIT: Y'know, playing KH 1 and KH 2 back to back and comparing them, I wish that KH 2 had kept the part of the MP system where you recovered magic by hitting things? Both in and out of MP Charge.

Faster MP recharge in general in II would definitely be nice.

...Okay, this has been bugging me since the day I first saw those "okay, I believe you" meme videos. Why did JustAPancake choose to use that screenshot of Ven for the meme? Was there a reason for it, or was it just an arbitrary decision?

Probably the facial expression and camera angle worked fine without conveying something strange. Like, KH does a lot of close ups and intense facial expressions or animations. Or, at least, BBS does. It makes sense to me that there might not be that many headshots where Ven has a netural or at least non-serious facial expression where there aren't any other characters in the shot.

Or I could be over thinking this.

The vortex is a cone that sucks you down. It's hard to swim in any direction away, but the easiest is to the left or right because then you don't run into the wall that is her head or chin, and instead end up swimming beside her thinner jaw, outside the range of the chomp.

IIRC, don't most L1 playthroughs just skip Atlantica and go to Hallowe'en Town and Monstro instead? Or are you trying to get all worlds?
