Twitch Plays Pokémon (TPP) is a series of social experiments in which commands representing buttons on an original Game Boy Advance (up, down, left, right, A, B, L, R, start, and select) are entered into a chat on Twitch, and then translated into a game of Pokémon via an IRC bot. In short, hundreds of people are fighting over a controller. Throughout its life, Twitch Plays Pokémon has spawned hilarious characters, memorable moments, and even a few religions.
Twitch Plays Pokémon Blazing Emerald is the sixth run of the eighth season, which began on August 21st, 2021 and ended on September 9th, 2021. The game featured is a hack of Pokémon Emerald that includes many improvements and additions over the original, such as Pokémon and mechanics brought in from later generations, more challenging boss battles, and even a fair share of brand new Pokémon species, be it new evolutions, regional forms, or even a few Canon Immigrants and Ascended Memes, among which the Poison-type Eeveelution Oreon, and the mind-controlling Eldritch Abomination Metunn.
The character picked for this run, a boy named AGGGNNV, was frequently depicted in lore as an edgelord kid named "Agony", an interpretation supported by the fact that his initial Hall of Fame team consisted pretty much entirely of either gloomy or agressive-looking Pokémon, namely Weezing, Gliscor, Crobat, Weavile, Beedril, and a very moldy Hoennian Shuckle. Also, he was often thought to really enjoy fishing.
This run sadly went down in infamy for pretty much solidifying the Audience-Alienating Era era that started with Randomized Black 2, with it being subject to a lot of coordinated actions meant to make the overall experience as unpleasant as possible, leading to a significant part of the playerbase simply growing anywhere from ambivalent to disgusted: this included multiple hour-long stalling, particularly vulgar and tasteless nicknames, and constant releases that even got to the point of the entire PC being released in Democracy. Once the aforementioned Audience-Alienating Era faded away and the most problematic players were weeded out, one would've been hard-pressed to find anyone with fond memories of this run.

- Anti-Frustration Features: One of the end condition for the run was to defeat Blue; however, it proved to be a particularly daunting task as not only was he the last of a whole series of battles, said battles were locked behind the condition of obtaining all Gold Medals from the Battle Frontier. After a while of players getting frustrated with their ack of progress, the Streamer decided to just manually give them all of the Gold Medals, then threw in the ability to heal right before facing him on top of that.
- Endangered Species: The chat spent a lot of time fishing for Goldeen in the pond near Fallarbor Town, as they had a chance of holding Heart Scales. After a full hour of not encountering a single one however, they started joking that AGGGNNV had fished so many of them that they had become downright endangered.auriatell: We were farming goldeen for heartscales, to fix the absolutely nuked movesets. We went a full hour without encountering a single goldeen, and we agreed that the goldeen population had been driven to the brink of extinction. Shortly thereafter we eliminated the last remaining goldeen in the pond, and moved on. Then there were more the next day after the city restocked the pond.
- One-Letter Name: One of the Pokémon entered in the Hall of Fame was a Chrysalix (the evolution of the Rock/Ice-type Hoennian Onix) simply named "A".
