Re: the comic, to be fair, Marten just got back home and his mind was on dinner plans. Someone just needed to draw his attention to Claire needing to talk about something, and apparently Claire was feeling too timid at the moment to do it herself.
Okay, perfect world, Marten would have picked up on something right away. Benefit of the doubt? At least Pintsize made things very clear now.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...Pintsize and Ursula.
There is a story behind that name and I wish to know it.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117My guess is that there's actually seven more of those things, and he plans to tie them together into some sort of dicktopus.

It's purple. And kind of fat. So I guess it's in reference to The Little Mermaid
I like how it has a little happy face.
Piling it on. This is very relatable for me. My wife will do this, taking any sort of an olive branch, or apology, as a reason to pile on further grievances. She does it when I accept an apology too. I don't hold it against her. It's how her family is, and I know it's reflexive.
Is it something you just get used to after a while? I feel like it could get stressful very quickly if it were me, but then I'm already a very self-critical person to begin with.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...It's mildly annoying, but it passes pretty quickly. She's just been conditioned to immediately go on the offense when she feels defensive. And she's aware of it, but it's pretty deep conditioning. To me, the key is to not be a doormat, but also to not fight.
I mean, Marten got hired because Tai is....Tai.
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"I don't have a tattoo but this seems...well like the kind of logic behiend tattoos actually.
Edit: Dang. Double post.

"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"Wikipedia Jones? That's quite a vintage reference.
Indiana Jones is a vintage reference? People make Indiana Jones references all the time. Particularly to Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Never mind... I misunderstood.

I assume that it was meant to be a combined joke about Indy and Encyclopedia Brown.
I don’t think it is. For starters, “Encyclopedia Jones” would be perfectly in character for Claire to say if that’s what she was going for. Encyclopedia Brown was a detective, not a font of information or an adventurer.
And the comment on the bottom is “We named the dog Wikipedia” which is a clear Last Crusade joke.
I'll admit that my edited post was pointing out the "Wikipedia Brown" story (which was a parody of Encyclopedia Brown lampooning the issue of how anyone can edit Wikipedia) and suggesting it was the joke before I looked back and saw that indeed, they said "Jones".
I misremembered Encylopedia Brown's name >.>
"Schrödinger's Grad Student" should be used more often.
It strikes me as weird that Jeph is pushing Marten's job as being particularly great. The librarian gig is clearly not stressful at all, but it's not clear that it pays all that well (Marten is splitting his rent 4 ways) or has any potential for future advancement.
I mean, I wouldn't expect Marten to be motivated to find a new job without some pushing, but that says more about Marten than his job.

Having known a couple people who took library science, Marten’s job is extremely cushy. Like, if you don’t have your masters, good fucking luck getting a reasonable job at one.
I think at this point, splitting rent is much less about saving money and much more about inertia plus girlfriends. It's a sweet apartment they want to hold on to, they're great friends and roommates, but they also wanna sleep with their partners.
Fresh-eyed movie blogDidn't Marten catch one of the deans having sex in the library a few years back? If push comes to shove, I'd imagine that the dean would cover Marten's ass at the end of the day for not spilling about her sordid library romp.
I'm pretty sure he was explicitly asked if he wanted one, and he said no.
