I know it sounds strange, but I'd actually be interested in seeing your ideas/designs for a new VH1 logo.

(I was actually gonna say this earlier, but I forgot)

@JZ: That's up to the executives, I suppose.

I initially mentally had a reprise of their 1994 one, but without the terminal(?) at the bottom and rounded corners.

I have no drawing programs, so no concepts.

Download Inkscape and try to draw it only to end up with something that only slightly resembles what it looks like in your head. That's what I do!

Why did this song randomly pop into my head?

I don't know about retaining the "VH" in the middle. I fear it would not reproduce well at smaller sizes. And it would look like crap otherwise.

This is probably why they tweaked it and stuck it in a circle after a few years, give it a bit more distinction. I remember when they did that and I hated it; now I prefer it to the original.

All ponies, all the time, except from 2:37 AM to 7:06 AM, when it's nonstop fuzzy camcorder footage of the Hellhorse at Denver International Airport, overlaid with white noise.

I've got two guns pointed west and a broken compass.

Well The Hub will probably be moved into the Channel Seven Clock Tower, provided it's okay with Hasbro...

Also, I'm trying to think of a Punny Name for that. The Nick Jr. analogue is "HubBub", the old-stuff action block is "HubBoom".

Hahaha No.

If I were me the ponies would definitely be more prominent, and not air when the target audience is in school and at no other time fuck.

The Girls of Radcliff Hall is a roman à clef novel in the form of a lesbian girls' school story written in the 1930s by the British composer and bon-vivant Gerald Berners, the 14th Lord Berners, under the pseudonym "Adela Quebec", published and distributed privately in 1932. Berners depicts himself and his circle of friends, including Cecil Beaton and Oliver Messel, as lesbian schoolgirls at a school named "Radcliff Hall" (punning on the name of the famous lesbian writer). The indiscretions alluded to in the novel created an uproar among Berners's intimates and acquaintances, making the whole affair highly discussed in the 1930s. Cecil Beaton attempted to have all the copies destroyed. The novel subsequently disappeared from circulation, making it extremely rare. The story is not included in the Berners anthology Collected Tales and Fantasies, which was reprinted in 2000.
Nowadays you can just stumble across that sort of story by pure accident on the intertubes.

[up][up] I find it hilarious that this guy apparently fictionalised his friend as a Schoolgirl Lesbian and published the resulting work without bothering to ask the guy's permission first.

I now completely understand CA's burning hatred of GIF

I am surprised that Neutraface has become so ubiquitous. I can't leave my apartment without running into an ad for a new condo development using it, or a restaurant, or a new cookbook. Seeing it around so much, little things started to bother me about it. The low crossbars are fine in a short block of text, but in a whole magazine's worth of captions, they start to grate on my nerves. I had also seen a number of logos and a Swedish home design magazine using versions of the face that had been modified with varying degrees of success, so the demand for a more 'normal' Neutraface seemed clear. We had discussed drawing an alternate version with more normal crossbars as part of the initial release, but ulitmately decided that it would water the concept of the face down too much. In 2006, I asked House if they might reconsider this decision and let me do a 'director's cut' of the face, raising the crossbars, adjusting accent heights for better setting of Scandinavian languages, and fine-tuning a few other details. I also took this opportunity to add an Inline version, which helped alleviate some of the inevitable boredom of going back into an old project. We decided to call this new versions 'Neutraface No. 2', after Linotype's 'Metro No. 2', W.A. Dwiggins's rethinking of his geometric sans.
