Lego would be fine if they went with Tetrajet Starscream or some cybertronian form. Something sci-fi ala their Star Wars line-up.

Wrecker Bulkhead revealed. I'll pass on him, I like the standard deco better. Only new piece is a hammer that looks like it could belong to Prime Breakdown. I want to see someone equip the hammer to their Breakdown now.

New video review from (the incredibly dirty minded) Ultra Primal:

Get your mind out of the gutter Ultra!

Edit: Forgot to mention, for shits and giggles, I watched the first episode of Beast Wars Neo.

Wow. Big Convoy was kinda a prick in the start, what with being the traditional loner that wouldn't actually be a leader.

Also, we don't see many Snake transformers. There Colada in this series, Night Viper from the Beast Machines toyline (and used in the 3H and Wings Universe comics) Quickstrike (who's a Fuzor, so he's also part Scorpion) and Slitherfang, a Quintesson aligned Battle Master. There's a few others, but Colada and Quickstrike are the only ones who've had any television screen time.

I can get that. Snake toys would be borderline impossible in the transformers line up. Like, pretty all the guys I mentioned barring Quickstrike are Cobras, and even Quickstrike still has a cobra head for a tail.

Snakes man. It's hard to make transformers out of them.

Sometimes I find myself wondering why the fanon terminology for Cybertronian anatomy is used so much in fanworks.

Aside from the Cybertronians themselves using the actual words for human anatomy in place of where the "other words" should go (I distinctly remember them using "hand" and "brain" in Prime, and in the same show Soundwave is described as the "eyes and ears of the Decepticons"), sometimes a few words don't make sense, such as "servo" for "hand". A "servo" is actually a motor-driven system with a feedback element. This would be roughly analogous to calling your hand a "ligament".

Ladies and gentlemen!

Ultra Primal is here, with the review of the first made, and likely most loved Transformers film.

Transformers: The Movie!

I think I've heard that Starscream was dubbed female in the french dub of this film. It might have even been on the trope page for this film.

I wish Primal had commented a bit more on Hot Rod. It's always interesting to hear new opinions on him, since he's so controversial even to this day.

I had no idea Judd Nelson came back for the Prime Wars Trilogy. Considering I've heard nothing good about that series, that's actually kinda sad.

Next up in the G1 series, Five Faces of Darkness. Prepare yourselves.

I think Rodimus in the Prime Wars trilogy kind of fell victim to the "we must make him suffer because of the movie" mindset, since about halfway through he ends up getting possessed by Unicron and turns into sadistic villain who gladly helps Overlord torture and kill other Transformers. Obviously, the it's clear its not really Rodimus's fault, but the idea of turning him into a negative figure does in part feel like the creators still resented him a bit. There hasn't been any official statements from the creators to confirm this, but it does come across that way at points.

In all honesty, if IDW could decouple Rodimus from that whole "dumb meanie that killed Optimus" 30-years-going grudge that all the manchildren are still nursing and make him his own character, I don't see how Prime Wars couldn't.

Part of the problem is that Hasbro is very hesitant to even approach Optimus Prime dying and having someone affirmative take his place. Transformers Prime and Robots in Disguise did explore a little of Optimus being out of the picture, but we didn't have another Prime called to step into that exact role. Under other circumstances, foremost a Hot Rod who isn't a liability and partially responsible for Optimus' death, the idea of taking such a character with command potential but unsure of themselves and seeing them grow into that role could be fascinating. Stargate SG-1 had a small story arc of Carter trying to recruit a young and gifted but difficult air force academy student into the program, hoping that the work will help them shape up. That student showed up in a few later episodes and they never took it to full fruition (ie joining the cast) but that kind of stuff has a lot of potential.

Do you not know that in the service one must always choose the lesser of two weevils!

Legacy Cybertron Override

That'd be nice. the original figure was badly crippled by a spring loaded gimmick.

Oh she looks really good! glad the Unicron Trilogy is getting modern figures. Still annoyed I could never find the Cybertron!Optimus Prime at any of my stores.

It'd be great if they made a new Thunderblast or Megatron. Scourge could be done if they want to make a mold to share with Predaking similar to how the new Bulkhead will probably be redone as Movie!Hound.

Robot Mode

Kinda glad she remains a female character but they didn't sexy her up.

I really hope that picture is mis-transformed. That is a really, really visible head in car mode.

Meh, seen worse. Also accurate to the original tbh.

It might be slightly mistransformed. All of Prime vs. Prime's reviews are of stolen factory samples/rejects, so there is a very high likelihood of QC problems that won't effect the retail release.

Double post.

I brought up Armada Sideswipe earlier, and how I like his Vehicle mode.

This made me think that I wouldn't mind seeing him get the Legacy treatment in the hopes of getting a less shitty looking robot more.

It wouldn't be all that difficult to give him a transformation sequence more akin to Nightbeat/Minerva and I feel like that would help a lot with making look less....like crap.

Apologies for the triple post. Chris Mc Feely has another video up. The Basics on the third of the miniature -Master bots: Powermasters!

Didn't know the engine forms of the Godmasters were called Iacons. That's an unexpected name drop.

Edit: And now Rodimus Primal gives us a retrospective on one of my favourite new bots: Bulkhead!

Did you know that the logos for the WFC Trilogy have a hidden number that indicates which part of the trilogy it is?

The 2 and 3 are a bit cut off but I feel like they communicate their "message" well.

Random thought:

I'd like to see Movie Jazz Ricochet's colours.

The Pontiac Solstice design is pretty good, and adding a bit of colour does a lot for it, as shown by this old movie toy in his G1 colours.

Like, he looks really good in his G1 colours:

So Ricochet would look pretty good in that body. Hell, a bit of stylizing and the robot mode would look pretty cool as well.

Chris Mc Feely presents the Basics on Thrust:

Thrustinator isn't a good name. Sounds like you could twist it to be something dirty.

Also, I wouldn't mind seeing a Thrust with the classic design, and the personality of the Armada version, or maybe the reverse.

Though "Thrust" is already kind of innately unfortunate. Like "Dick".
