I am suitably impressed.
Productivity is for people without internet connections. -Count DorkuI'm 32, can I post here?
online since 1993 | huge retrocomputing and TV nerd | lee4hmz.info (under construction) | heapershangout.comI'm 22, soon to be 23. So far, nothing in this thread piques my interest.
I'm teaching my first biology lab tomorrow. I don't know whether to be terrified, or terrified.
I guess either would be a bad thing. Pre-med students can smell fear.
At least the subject of the lab is some zero-stakes introductory crap.

Wait...lee...we're the same age, and we're both ex-Mormons? Trippy.
@Zeta: AHAHAHAHA. That is awesome.
I wish I'd mailed my older self Pogs.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~Madrugada@Meta: Students are meat. They fear you. You do not fear them.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyBest of luck, Meta Four! You teach them good!
And so I was reborn... and no-one noticed anything had changed.Yes, but they have the power of complaints.
What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.Don't be a Stepford Smiler in class and then hate the students behind their backs, either. Too many professors are like that.
Some writing.Yes! Teach them real good! Tear them open like the worms they are and show them the wonders of human anatomy!
...Wait, you're not supposed to do that?
Pre-meds.
Their parents told them they were smart. They frightened their high school teachers who were afraid of the School Board.
Now they have you, and they are in a world of shit.
You could pity them, but it would not be as much fun.
Dump the networks!Just be fair. If they're really that new to challenges, fair is enough.
Some writing.Phew,I can finally exercise my vocabulary without confusion. Most people nowadays look at you oddly when you use a word like "succinct".
I've been trying to seed the wiki with some verbiage to combat this. We have so many wonderful words; it pains me to see them fall into disuse.
Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.Fair is enough?
Fuck that. Rips their hearts out and send them home weeping.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI am afraid such tasks are beyond my ambit. I must adjure you to go on alone.
What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.Pre-meds are easy to break. Just show them that the world doesn't fit into tidy little boxes and watch them bites their pens in half. Pre-laws are even easier though. Mumpty-umph years ago my gaming group had a pre-med and a pre-law, a couple of comp-sci and a couple of theatre folks. Much mind-screwing ensued.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Wow, crotchety old bitches can ramble. Are we just here to be cool, but not really cool since the young'uns define what's cool and they're upstart pipsqueaks without any idea of what constitutes actual cool?
I haven't overused "cool" yet, no I have not.
I wrote about a fish turning into the moon. The only "cool" I give a damn about is what I think is cool.
But what about Flasheart?
What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.Hit it.
