This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

The only reason I said "guess" because there's nothing on that page for the context I was in. I did not realize I was edit warring because I didn't remember making the post, and no one I bothered to message me to tell me I was in the wrong, which has been my experience on this wiki.
The way to avoid edit wars is to talk with other people. Ask The Tropers, Trope Talk, Discussion Pages, Wiki Talk, and any other forums about the tropes in question are where I need to go when I have a disagreement and conflict. That’s what the Edit War page says.
I am not sure if anyone has gotten to me yet, but I would like my suspension to be lifted. I have been wanting to correcting my grammar and spelling since I do know it needed improvement, and I wish to continue doing so.
Also I'm suspecting why I got suspended was because it looks like I go fast, but that's actually because I simply pre-write everything, I'm also doing it in multiple windows, and then I'm really just correcting stuff when I'm in the editing window.
With all this put together, it makes it appear I'm going really fast. When really I'm just trying to make it efficient that way. But listen, I'll try to do everything slowly this time if that's a problem here.
Edit: I did not read the post from before about how there were word crufts. I would like solve the issues regarding the "zero-context" stuff. I see that other people describe stuff in a personal way, so what was wrong with me doing it? Unless there's a proper way to do that.

So disregard that really long recent message I wrote. I know now why I was suspended. I would like to talk about word crufts first, and also an example of preferable grammar.

Okay, so the webpage provided says that users who believe an editing war is happening or about to happen should:
A) Talk it out with the other user, via the discussion page, a direct message, ask the tropers. B) Do not assume that leaving an 'edit reason' is sufficient discussion C) Edit warring may be onesided, such as if person1 changes something, person2 deletes/edits it, but person1 changes it back.
Very well, these are understandable & easy-to-follow conditions. I'll agree to them wholeheartedly.

When editing a page, try to make sure that the tropes you are using are not based on your opinion, but factually what happens in the story. If the edit your trying to make is cannot be objectively proven as true or false, then it's YMMV.
Be careful when using subpages and indents. All tropes should be laid out alphabetically. Tropes used should get the same level of indent and not be doubled up in the same bullet point, and quotes should be one level of indent deeper than the bullet point their referencing.

Don't Launch Any Draft Without Notice - I decided to launch it quite literally immediately after I asked if it was ready for the public or not
Be Patient - I was just excited to contribute something to this magnificent garbage website really
Besides premature launching though, I minded my own business with this draft outside of giving a bit of feedback in the thread and checking it semi-frequently to see how close it is to completion. Honestly, though, it just makes me wonder why the launch button is available for everyone including the creator if no one is allowed to push it besides them.

I didn’t intend to start an edit war. The person who kept deleting the texts was insisting on it. I warned him about the edit war on messages and he kept persisting. I do apologize of that came down to it, but again, that was not my intention.
When I first discovered this site, what I found was a place where I can escape the oftentimes harsh reality of the real world every once in a while, so for years, I kept coming back to this site over and over again all while discovering lots of different tropes and other types of pages that soon rose up to become some of my favorites on the site, and then, one day, I became a Known Troper myself so I could help to further flesh out my favorite pages on the site and also add certain tropes to certain indexes whenever reasonable, so all-in-all, I never once intended to cause any issues on this wonderful site, and if any Moderators out there are willing to come talk to me about my current situation, please do so as soon as possible.

I got suspended for rudeness less than three months after my previous suspension. I have no excuses this time, so I feel like its time I took a break from this forum to do some soul searching for a bit. I thank the mods for putting up with my attitude for as long as they have, and I'll leave this message here as a sign of no hard feelings as you have to do what you have to do for the betterment of the forum.
Hopefully I can come back a better person in the future.

Okay when I said "character exists" that was my way of saying/trying to paraphrase "People sit in chairs" as a concept. Maybe I should've said something "Character action exists" or just simply "this character did something that's arbitrary and not a trope". Or just kept it at "People sit in chairs".
Look, I get that people sit in chairs covers making something arbitrary into a trope when since it's arbitrary shouldn't be made into a trope.
I mean the character is doing something yet since it doesn't really send a message, is an archetype, or mean anything significant it's not a trope. I understand.
So how about this, I either broaden the definition of the neck slide to mean dance move, or trying to be slick in addition to sass OR I just remove those bad examples you've mentioned and keep the definition the same.
It would be nice to have more good examples though, because I couldn't find that many and not many people were really trying to help me in that regard.
In regards to coming up with examples, tvtropes basically forces you to use media in a different way.
Like instead of just watching/reading/playing something all like, "Hehehe! Entertainment!" you instead have to be all, "Write that down! WRITE THAT DOWN!" as an approach to art.
There are times when I wish I paid more attention to tropes of stuff I watched/read/or played and wrote them down rather than just experiencing the art.
So yeah sometimes, I'm a bit short on the examples. It's like I've seen this stuff before but I remember a lot less than I should've.
So I think I can make this trope work. I mean characters definitely do this body language to show sass at least. Basically if I could get some more examples, and better suggestions I think I could really make this trope shine.

Hello. I am fully aware of my suspension. There was an edit-warring I did in the Trope Pantheons project in certain pages as well as my hostility between certain users in the forum, which is why it resulted in the hollered reports and eventual suspension as of today.
I would like to formally apologize for my mistakes. It was an immature response on my part and I will do my best to not repeat them again as well as lessening my anger towards other tropers in the project. Thank you for reading my appeal.

Just as a general reminder, while we don't want anyone commenting on other people's suspensions, part of the reason why we have these public discussions is so that the enforcement is done publicly and consistently. We want you to read the other people going through the suspension process because you're probably not the first person for a given offense and reading through how other editors have successfully appealed should help you with yours (or avoid one entirely if you haven't been suspended yet and are reading this thread to stay aware of how we enforce policies). There's been one or two examples in the past several weeks of someone who had violated the Edit War policy that was released after one or two posts because they had researched ahead of time and knew exactly what we would be asking from them.
~DJones662 — We are testing you before agreeing to return your editing privileges. We want to know if you understand the rules of editing and can look them up when you encounter problems. Therefore, we provided you with a resource (the relevant policy page) and asked you to read it. We will know that you understood the policy if you can tell us what you should do when someone changes your edits in a way that you disagree with.
If you cannot read the edit war policy page with enough comprehension to tell us how to handle an editing dispute, then we have a low confidence that you'll understand any of the other policies, such as What Goes Where on the Wiki, Example Indentation in Trope Lists, or TLP Guidelines. Being unable to paraphrase policy pages means that we are not going to risk the chance that you'll create additional problems for the wiki.

We were directly telling you that we didn't agree with that assessment, calling it victim-blaming.
You persisted in blaming the other editor, despite our clear stance on the situation. You are apparently self-aware enough to know that you have problems when people are rude to you, but not self-aware enough to know when it is your perception of rudeness, rather than someone violating the social contract.
This could have avoided any moderation intervention whatsoever if you had responded to the "rudeness" by saying something like "I don't like the way you phrased [quote], it makes me feel [emotion]. Can you please say it in a different way?" You chose instead to start insinuating and then accusing them of a bias. You haven't been able to release that anger while discussing your suspension, so it is clear that private messages are not a privilege that you can be trusted with. You will have to resolve editing disputes and the like in the public queries and forums.
As far as being able to read your PMs, we would like to have the admins fix the code so that reading without replying was possible, but they have a tall stack of priorities and we agree that quality of life improvements for suspension cases are relatively low on the list.
