I want to go back to the days when BoTW was called Zelda Wii U
I can't say goodbye to yesterday…Heh.
Bringing this topic back from the Switch thread.... As a proud "Navi is Numero Uno Companion" fan and a newer guy whose experience with her was on the 3DS.... yeah, I don't get it either. Then again, I turned the Citra emulator on and off a lot, so.... (shrug)
Also I saw someone at a Discord server suggesting a multiplayer mode for BOTW 2. Honestly, I'd be down for that. A Story Mode Multiplayer with player 1 as Link and player 2 as Zelda? Aw, hell yes.

Hope: "Let's go. We'll be together." Lightning: "I only know... that soon, we'll be together."I didn’t mind Navi, but I’m glad there’s no one like her in BoTW, because a game that’s designed to let you do whatever you want is instantly ruined by someone butting in and telling you what to do.
I can't say goodbye to yesterday…Yeah, Navi really only comes up if you're doing something else - which was an important feature back when OoT was one of the more expansive game worlds, and I was playing it when I was eight.
It's been fun.It was rather annoying to have Navi hit you with the rolled up newspaper every time you walked off the beaten path, especially when you've already beaten the game several times and just want to explore a bit more.
But, as pure Exposition Faries go, she beats the crap out of Fi's "I see you're composing a letter" or Tatl's "You're dumb for not having played the first game".
For me, Link's best companions are Midna and ST!Zelda, though I know that neither provided enemy descriptions like the others.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Midna had funny lines and sass.
That goes a long way to endearing her.
Fi on the other hand HAS NOTHING! Except maybe a crappy last minute crush on Link.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Yeah, yeah, sword robot bad. Has this horse not been beaten so far past death that it's risen as a zombie?
Trans rights are human rights.I liked Fi, honestly. But then, I liked all the assistant characters. Midna's still the best though.
It's been fun.i adore Tatl so much. she's got some of the most personality of the companions besides Midna.
i also never ever minded Navi and kind of adore her. i really don't get her hate.
Fi sucks, but that's mostly because she talks way too much about things that literally dont matter, and in the most boring way possible. If her responses were like, one box then she'd be fine I guess.
Tatl is still my favorite tho
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeThe one thing I object to in Fi's design utterly flabbergasted me. I really wonder whose idea it was to have her add to the famously annoying low health beep with her own chime, just so she can say, "That annoying beeping means you have low health, as you can see by the fact that your health bar is low. We might be 6 hours into the game, but maybe you forgot?"
I liked Fi in Hyrule Warriors just for how cold-blooded she was. "Life signs are zero."
Yeah, that was pretty baffling. Especially since, even without the occasional wonkiness of the motion controls (or the precision required, in some cases), Skyward Sword was on the harder side of things. Or at least I thought so when I played it.
It's been fun.@Perseus. Master, i sense your salt levels are 98 % XD.
Sorry i may have come off as harsher since i don't really hate Fi that much, but damn is her reminders annoying and her character could have been better than utter blandness.
But i did like her Hyrule Warriors personality.
Speaking of Skyward sword, does the internet still hate it? I thought it was pretty good when it came out.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.I played maybe an hour of Skyward Sword so I don't actually have any particular thoughts on Fi beyond also liking her in Hyrule Warriors? I've just watched threads I follow descend into long, repetitive, tedious exchanges about why [unpopular character] sucks enough times to be thoroughly tired of it.

Trans rights are human rights.Really, the worst character in Zelda is the damn Cuccos.
But seriously, i do like Fi's Simlish.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Hopefully if this alleged Skyward Sword Switch remake is real, they'll tone down Fi.
I missed the part where that's my problem.I think its fake, the motions controlls mean a LOT reworking is necessary
New theme music also a boxNot if you play with Joycons.
I mean, people keep saying it's impossible because they'd have to change the controls for those playing in handheld mode. But I'm over here, like, yeah, so what? If they're sure enough that it'll sell, which Zelda games tend to do pretty well, they will put in that work. It's not an impossible problem to solve, tech wise, and whether or not it happens depends much more on whether they'll think they'll make that money back on their investment rather than any supposedly technology issues.
And with BOTW and its sequel bringing the franchise as a whole into the spotlight, and their willingness lately to let others handle the license, Nintendo just might be betting that it will.
They won’t radically change the controls. Period. Anyone suggesting otherwise is naive. Every suggestion anyone has put forward for it is uniformly awful and misses the point.
They would absolutely make it only playable with Joycons though. And before anyone suggests otherwise, Skyward Sword already requires a specific peripheral to play, and was bundled with the peripheral on its initial release.
Don’t be surprised if Nintendo makes Joycons mandatory to play Skyward Sword, and bundles it with a set of Zelda-themed ones on launch.
> Anyone suggesting otherwise is naive. Every suggestion anyone has put forward for it is uniformly awful and misses the point.
cheers
New theme music also a boxSo as I'm sure you're all aware, Nintendo are releasing Super Mario 3D All-Stars to celebrate Mario's 35th anniversary. This is a bundle containing Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy (but not Galaxy 2 for some reason). They stated in the Direct that Joy-Cons will be required to play Galaxy.
This says to me that if Skyward Sword is happening, it will require Joy-Cons.
Ukrainian Red CrossNope, Joy-Cons motion controls will be optional. So SS may not necessarily require them should the game be released on Switch.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300I'm playing Majora's Mask for the first time. I'd just finished Ocarina of Time, which I played often when it was new, so I was struck by the differences. MM feels more polished & cinematic, despite reusing assets from OOT. I'd guess the developers got a lot of confidence from OOT's success and had a better idea of how to do things.
Also, man it's unsettling. The weird jump-cuts of the Happy Mask Salesman, for instance. Or the cutscene every time Link puts on the Deku Mask - it looks straight-up painful.
I don't much like the time limit aspect, and having to do things over again. But I really want to experience the story.
