>Regarding Rocket and Groot being used as dividual.

Tbf, Marvel Ultimate Alliance probably did it so you can have all 5 members on the team.

I’m just hyped to play as the Green Goblin.

Eventually.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.

Loki takes center stage in the first character showcase for Marvel Rivals. And naturally, his trickery is on full display.

You'll get to try this Strategist out when the Closed Alpha starts May 10th.

I wasn't expecting Loki of all characters to be support, but I'm not complaining.

Oh shoot I didn't realize there were official videos dropping.

Yggsgard looks legit nice and I'm digging the trickster-style kit Loki's got. Curious to see how exactly kits will be established and what to expect.

......Huh. Interesting to do Hela now of all times but I ain't hating on it.

Curious how she plays - kinda hoping it's more "Goddess of Death" than "Knives everywhere" though maybe I'm looking too much at the Duelist label.

All good info, glad they're remembering us canucks.

I do want to play this on a console myself instead of PC.

I know that this criticism was made before but this is a great example of how maps look really Overwath-y.

I wonder who was that tease at the end.

Identifying Hanamura, yep that's Hanamura [lol]

lol j/k

[up] So the mural at the end is another interesting deep-pull, that being the Master Weaver from the original Spider-Verse comic (personally unsure if it's specifically Karn or a generic Master Weaver). What it means however I can't fathom yet.

The devs just put out a new Dev Talk explaining why they went with a third-person viewpoint as opposed to first-person.

I thought that FPS just doesn't work well with so many melee characters. Sure, you can have ranged attacks too but you can't imagine Spider-Man who's main attack is launching web thips from his wrist like it's a pellet gun. Not to mention that you generally get to see some cool weapons like this - there would be many characters who just hold out their hands in front of them.

Yeah a lot of Marvel heroes aren't really weapon users. There are a couple famous gunmen like Cable and Punisher, and some distinct weapon users like Magik or Cap, but a lot are also wavey hand wizards like Storm, Dr Strange, Jean Grey, Magneto, Polaris, Scarlet Witch, etc.

Iron Man and Spidey also count to a degree since their powers feature a lot of hand using.

[up]And some characters like the latter two would look silly if they were constantly holding out their hands in shooting position.

Q: Are there any must-haves you feel should be added. Because to me, it really boils down to Thor and Captain America. Marvel Universe is just too big to narrow it down to bare necessities and I enjoy getting unexpected characters so by all means, roll out Paste-Pot-Pete and Unus the Untouchable next.

I'm waiting patiently for Captain Marvel, since she never was made playable in Marvel's Avengers and I'm still kinda sore about that.

Colossus is my fave X-Man but Gambit would probably be more fun to actually play as.

But yeah like [up] said nothing will get me more excited than a deep cut choice nobody's ever heard of.

I get the impression most of the characters will be default ranged in some way - most egregiously actually running around as Banner with a little gamma pistol with him going Hulk as a mechanic - and the game will still be a "shooter" overall. However not only does the third-person view make it more stylish but I imagine it just makes things easier overall - people already mentioned that it makes melee easier and more available for default, but it also opens up other things like more movement options too. Camera Perspective Switch only helps so much, at some point it's just easier to keep it third-person. [lol]

In terms of mainstays I'd like to see, Venom, Cyclops, Deadpool, Psylocke, Nightcrawler.

In terms of less known characters, love to see Fantomex playable, always a fav of mine. Some Spidey villains like Electro and Mysterio could prolly give us some movesets.

I'd also be curious what Havok would look like, if only to see how the game's very detailed art-style would handle his simple costume.

I kinda would like Fantastic Four but it's hard to ask for 4 characters so give it up for the obscure guys. Put Stilt-Man, Rocket Racer and Fabulous Frog-Man in the game. Come on, think of gameplay mechanics potential.
