I was noticing something after looking back at the works of Studio TRIGGER—more and more of their new works have featured a sudden plot twist where a Man Behind the Man Big Bad and his or her motivations comes out of nowhere, usually done really clumsily or in a way that doesn't make any sense: APE being an alien Hive Mind, Kray being a Burnish Boomerang Bigot, and most recently Alan being an "elite" beastman set on world domination, which requires a retcon to work. I actually noticed that this trend actually dates all the way back to Kill la Kill when Ragyo and later the Original Life Fiber came right out of nowhere, but in contrast to the later examples, Ragyo showed up at the halfway point and her villainy was never in doubt instead of being poorly-disguised. Normally, if these were sequels to each other, they would qualify for Franchise Original Sin, but they're completely separate works that are made by the same creator. Is there any sort of trope for that?
