Man didn't realize Schumacher passed away a few years ago.
I guess Josstice League tried to add some levity? Kinda? With mixed results, obviously.
Well we did get Flash running into Wonder Woman's boobs, how's that for levity....
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I honestly thought the vitriol towards Batman and Robin was seriously overblown. I also don't Schumacher should have had to apologize for it, it was a bad movie, nothing more.
I disagree on Matt - there's a place for humorous Batman.
Yeah. Wasn’t one of the best Batman movies of the last decade the freaking Lego Batman movie?
“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”The issue is that Batman and Robin kind of tried to have its Bat credit card — I mean cake — and eat it too. It tried to be serious and funny and the result was dissonance that wouldn't be matched until Joss Whedon started writing Avengers movies.
A full on Adam West homage Batman movie would totally work.

Disgusted, but not surprisedNah, having your cake and eating it too is how you make a good movie. I think a truly great piece of fiction needs to have both drama and levity. Striking that balance is basically how the Marvel movies have dominated for the last decade.
Obviously though there are good and bad ways to go about it.

Ghost of Tsushima, for instance, has levity not in Comedy but in the beauty of its environments.
Watch SymphogearThe Adam West Batman show is a lot better than you'd think it is, assuming you can dig the camp. If you watch it, it's pretty clear the people making it were in on the joke, but that doesn't stop the actors from doing their best to take the material super seriously, which makes it very entertaining.
Ah bat nipples and bat credit card.
Man that film was gross to watch, Poison Ivy was major fan disservice
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Didn't we get a straight-up Adam West Batman movie a few years ago? Like not a homage — it literally starred him and was based on the TV show.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?We got two of them even.
Return of the Caped Crusaders and Batman vs Two-Face
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Aside from Mask of the Phantasm, the best Batman film is Vs Dracula. The TMNT crossover was great, he gets to fight the Shredder.
Gothem by Gaslight was also a really good adaptation. Lots of underrated Bat animations, basically.
I mean. Batman: Under the Red Hood is prolly my favorite Batman movie.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. Also good cartoons.
Brave and the Bold is a fantastic send-up to the Silver Age and has a more wacky fun Batman who cheerfully compares gadgets and techniques with Blue Beetle and considers crimefighting the funnest job in the world.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah, Brave and the Bold was fun for those reasons. I may see the new Batman film at some point just because it looks standalone, but I tire of super serious Batman as well.
I don’t have a problem with having a Batman that’s very serious. I also don’t have a problem with having some levity. Even Batman: The Animated Series had levity to it.
I do have a problem when they try to make Superman all gritty and serious though. Because that’s something he’s fundamentally not.
But yeah WB is afraid to have any live-action Batman movie have any similarity to Batman & Robin.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Superman can certainly be serious, though I agree that gritty is too much. There's a reason one of Superman's epithets is "the Big Blue Boy Scout", after all. It's just in his nature to inspire hope in people.
This week's episode is on Capcom's Spyborgs! ...h-hey wait, no trope page? How obscure is this game, anyways?
I'm not really sure how to sum up what or where everything went wrong here, but lots of things did. And I think this also sets a record for the biggest flop on the entire history of What Happened. If Matt's nosing around was correct, take a guess how many copies the game sold before Capcom stopped shipping it!
600 copies. Yes, that's only three digits and two zeroes.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaI'm upset that we didn't get the original vision because it sounds like fun.
Curse 2000's gamers and their hatred of cartoony video games.
Help me. I can't get it out of my head.Reminds me of what happened with that Fuse game.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Meanwhile Borderlands is laughing in the corner as their franchise nears a half-dozen entries.
Batman and Robin is the reason why we haven't had Robin or any of the succeeding Batfam in any movie since.
Its pretty majorly damaged the brand.
