So anyone else enjoying this game as much as I am? I really like that they went a more grounded, realistic and Ripped from the Headlines way. Unfortunately, the developers seem to be backtracking on that hard.

Wait, this is seriously the first post on the forums regarding Modern Warfare? Could've sworn we had another threat discussing it.

Well, it's definitely caught my attention, especially since the Ground War mode is essentially Activision's (admittedly very strong) attempt to copy the Battlefield formula. If they start adding in stuff like main battle tanks, heavy gun ships, boats, etc, I might finally make the plunge and buy myself a copy... which I haven't done since COD 4. *Technically I've played many of the sequels after COD 4 - I just never bothered with the multiplayer and simply focused upon beating the campaign. Probably why I loved MW 2 so much, the Spec Ops mode was insanely fun when you had friends over.

Even better is how I'm hearing this title allows PC, Xbone and PS 4 players to play alongside each other, something that would be a huge attractor for me since I have more than a few buddies who are FPS junkies AND currently play the Modern Warfare remake.

Right now, the game is borderline unplayable because of all of the camping. It's ironic, because Call of Duty has always had campers, but it's just so bad in this game. No one plays the objective in objective game modes (which I primarily play), and every house I walk into has one if not two people in corners.

I gave it a week and gave up. I may go back to it once they tweak things, but I don't have high hopes.

So basically, it's become a Battlefield title (pre-BFV) in disguise. I do not see that as a negative.tongue

A pity the environments won't ever be destructible though, that was always one of the better ways to deal with house campers.

Call of Duty becoming Battlefield (at least on the Ground War maps) is not a good thing. I don't play Co D to play Battlefield. I play Co D to play Co D. I don't like hiking miles to an objective and then getting sniped in two seconds.

Likewise, I don't like going around trying to find kills/capture flags/collect dog tags and then instantly get shotgunned from some guy in the corner with a riot shield and claymore and a shotgun that (unless there's been another patch) hilariously overpowered.

I think this is my favorite single player campaign since Black Ops 2. It's helpful that this is grounded in real life events and they don't engage in the ridiculous (bordering on offensive) Black-and-White Morality that characterized Infinite War, Ghosts, and Advanced Warfare.

While it's true the concept of a power-hungry-PMC-gone-rogue isn't new, at least Advanced Warfare backed it up by having Kevin Spacey as the villian and making the setting an interesting one. Helps avoid offending any particular groups too; can't complain when the PMC in question is a multi-national entity, no?

And man, am I the only guy who sincerely wished Infinite Warfare would've performed well enough to warrant a sequel? The campaign had an amazing idea that I'm wondering why hasn't it been replicated in a much better-suited setting like Star Wars or Mass Effect (command your own assault carrier, fly to various hotspots throughout the system/sector/galaxy, engage in seamless land and space battles). Or why, whyyyyyy could've have DICE taken the Infinite Warfare concept first, it would've been the perfect excuse for a spiritual successor to Battlefront 3!

I lost most of my interest in INFINITE WARFARE when they said they just wanted a straight forward "good vs. evil" stories and the Martians were portrayed as such mustache twirling caricatures. But the complete lack of follow up annoyed me with Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, and Infinite Warfare yeah. I mean, don't set up a Sequel Hook unless you intend to follow through.

In any case, I *LOVE* Modern Warfare and I love the characters. I really would love to see them all show up again, especially Farah.

I did a political heavy review on the subject here: https://unitedfederationofcharles.blogspot.com/2019/11/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2019-review.html

Finished and loved it. I'm very sad that I don't have another realistic military shooter to play. Ghost Recon's sequel looks awful and has none of the characters I came to like.

@ SgtRicko

Could've sworn we had another thread discussing it.

The main Call of Duty thread has already started discussing it.

This is just the first thread dedicated to the game solely on its own.

While I'm writing, I'll take the time to gush about this game and how likable and developed each protagonist is.

This game got me into Call of Duty, and even though I don't play it (because my gaming tech isn't that advanced), I've watched the complete Campaign Playthrough, and I eagerly await the sequels.

I stumbled upon a Youtube video featuring Mara's VA, Alex Zedra.

Talk about finding the right woman for the job.

I also checked other actors voicing the MP operators, turns out only three of them look like their characters - Alex Zedra, Talon's VA Jack Murillo and, surprisingly, Otter's VA Jason Anthony.

Had a giggle. Turns out, there's a weapon pack called "Fire Claw III" that gives a shout-out to Tiger King of all things, with a goofy, mulleted, mustached redneck guy in the promo image in addition to the usual tiger imagery.

Is what I'm hearing about the installation size reaching 200GB true? Wouldn't that be so prohibitively huge as to make installing other titles on a console hard drive difficult? (hell that's huge even for a PC!)

Mostly true. About 160 GB true.

Welcome to the party, the Stadium is now open for games (if you're hungry) and the train's doing the rounds.

We're getting two guns (B&T APC-9 and AN-94), an assload of new skins (Minotaur will get a $16 Viking bundle early in the season, Ghost gets a ghillie, Syd goes full Jackie Brown and we're getting a black gentleman dressed in an obvious supervillain outfit), and a new character tied to the Shadow Company.

Okay, so here's what's in the Battle Pass:

Shadow Company is in as an Allegiance faction - Lerch is Large and in Charge, Roz has been moved from Jackals to this group, there's an announced new guy called Velikan (the one wearing that red demon half-mask in the trailer) and a matching Mil-Sim skin (Coalition also gets a new Mil-Sim skin, the Canadian JTF-2 unit).

Otter, Domino, Wyatt, Yegor, Syd (!), Talon (!), Iskra (!) and Roze (!) get Battle Pass skins, allowing you to skip the grind for Syd. The skins for Otter, Domino, Wyatt and Syd are clearly visible in the trailer, Otter is the one with the balaclava. Talon's new skin makes a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance as he's performing a finisher.

The Raven finisher is universal and available in the Battle Pass as well.

We're getting not only two new guns, but a new melee weapon as well: Dual Kodachi. Kill 3 enemies from behind with the Knife in fifteen different rounds and they're yours. Or just buy the "Eternal Samurai" bundle and get a classic skin for them, as opposed to the tacticool default variant.

As for the teasers: Minotaur should get a Viking-themed skin called Ragnarok in a 1600-point pack, along with a PKM preset and a double-headed axe skin for the knife. COD Tracker already picked it up, so the release date is "soon". The Kojima-ish sharp-dressed skin (presumably for Thorne) is nowhere to be seen yet. Calling card unlockable through the Battle Pass features an unknown dark-haired woman (Asian maybe?) standing next to Lerch and Mara, so we might get another Shadow Company operator later in the season.

I added the distinction between Comic-Book Fantasy Casting and Ink-Suit Actor for multiplayer characters, since most of them are visually based on military celebs who pose for promotional materials, but voiced by someone else (Talon is the exception, since Jack Murillo is an actor and a director, but he's also famous for the skits he filmed while in the Marines).

I found an odd note doing the Intel missions in Warzone. It's obviously related to the upcoming COD Black Ops: Cold War, stating, among others, "ADLER/PERSEUS?"

What the hell?
