My character is Wolfgang Arcus Bianco, Felix’s older brother who works at the candy store in his spare time.
”Felix! I got reports of a ghost on Town Street!”
“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”
Roxanne was having quite a different, yet very same story. Just got back from school-
Well, okay. Just got back from skipping school, and she was checking the mailbox outside her admittedly not very gorgeous house. Absolutely nothing. But a single letter.
... From her fucking uncle.
Son of a bitch.
She grunts, grabs the letter, and heads inside. "Hey mom." She says, closing the door behind her. "School was shit, teachers were ganging up on me again, decided to bounce. I-" Oh. Yeah. Her mama's a deadbeat. Look, there she is, passed out on the couch drunk.
Another grunt. She looked at the letter she picked up. Always with her goddamn slump uncle talking about how she should join his extermination business. Because bugs and roaches are much more interesting to beat up than punks and weirdos. Nothing better to do, she crashed on the couch, tussled her pink-dyed hair, and opened it up, giving it a read.
What a surprise, it was indeed an invitation- scratch that, a plead for her to join the business of... ghost hunting.
Hey wait what? She read that again. Now that she really thinks on it, he never told her what specifically they were exterminating...
Also inside was one plane ticket. Straight to New Tempesta.
... Nothing better to do around here.

And here she was. Standing in front of the providence that her uncle supposedly lived in.
... Bit big for an exterminator. With a third, final grunt, she approaches the door and gives it a good, hard knock.

Felix says half-attendant while playing a game on his computer out of boredom. He's always used this name for his brother. Y'know, to annoy him.
He hears the knock at the door.
Bianco Ghost Hunters, come on in!
She heard demands to leave. She doesn't really pay attention to those.
She also heard demands to enter. Eh, why not?
She shoves her hands into her jean pockets and trotted in. "Okay, I folded. I'm here. Not like there's much to do in the slums of the City of Angels. My ass. So what now?"

His professional tone drops when he sees who it is. He beams, before running to Roxanne and hugging her.

Florida, A few hours ago
There was a man, a suave man, sitting on a beach, when he got a letter. He looked at it, nodded, and looked to the man that gave it to him.
"It's not mine. It's the neighbor's."
It pans to two houses; the quaint beach house of the rich man, and the larger, but kinda beat up house of his neighbor.
A knock on the door. A guy in an outfit vaguely resembling The Dude opens the door, but he's got a short, strawberry blonde mop of hair and the jacket the shining gold of the local university.
"Tyler Bianco speaking. Who this be for?"
"It's for you, sir."
"Thanks. Now, do I have to sign for anything, or can I-"
"No sir. Good day."
The man who had the letter scurries off, leaving Tyler confused.
He shrugs, and opens the invitation.
"Well, [Local university] does offer online classes... I'll leave a note."
He writes a note to... someone before locking up the house, packing some things, and changing...
New Tempesta, Present
Tyler, now in a golden polo and jeans, stands in front of the Bianco Ghost Hunters building.
"..."
Tyler looks at the invitation and back up at the building, shrugging before knocking on the already open door.
"I got an invitation from an... Uncle Felix? Yo, Felix?"
He steps over the threshold, but doesn't move afterwards.

"Rent schment. It's just a room with a fancy pair of goggles I bet."
She looks to the newcomer, confused. "... Did dad ever pull out?"

The pale, scrawny, and frail handyman of the Bianco business slowly sweeps into the room, breathing heavily after a hard day's work. He pats his forehead with a bright red rag, padding the sweat away. His head is topped by a fuzzy, ginger mop-top. He is adorned in a surprisingly fancy white tuxedo.
Oof, I'll need a nap after this...

A man has barged through the front door, but stopped upon seeing all the people in the room with Felix.
He's a tall, lanky guy, with light brown, shoulder-length hair, and a long, angular face. He's wearing a mustard yellow shirt with "New Tempesta Zoo" stitched into it.

Matthew opens a door to the side and steps in. "Just a minute," he calls from the other room. From the VR room, the other Biancos will hear the sounds of things being pushed around, grunting, occasional muttering like "No wait, this plug goes there..." and then a crash.
"That was one of the ceiling panels, Dad! It didn't hit anything - well, anything but the floor - but still..."
The sounds of things moving continue, until finally, a button clicking is heard.
Finally, some blue light glows from the open door, and a mysterious machine starting sound
is heard.
"Alright, come on in!"

In this thread, we all play members of a large extended family who work as ghost hunters. If you wanna play someone who isn't a member of this family, that's fine, just PM me your character concept first.
The setting is a modern, but vaguely steampunk city called New Tempesta. All the regular supernatural creatures, such as vampires, werewolves, etc. are present in this setting, though they're a somewhat unusual sight to most people as they don't tend to live in the same places as humans. Some less travelled or less educated people don't even think they exist.
Ghosts, in particular, don't normally stop on our mortal plane, but when they do most of the time it's to cause trouble. Whether it's simple haunting or more complex Ghost Mafia-type stuff, they're always up to no good.
My character is one Felix Alfonso Bianco. He's around fifty years old, and he lives and works in one of the seedier parts of this city. He's the head of this ghost-hunting business, founded by his grandfather in 1915. They've kept up with the cutting edge of ghost-capturing techniques, using a combination of the latest technology, specialist magic, and beating them up. It's a family business, and the rest of the staff are all Biancos, from Felix's aunt who does the accounting, to his son who also works at the local zoo.
Got all that? Excellent. Truly excellent. Now. We may begin.
It's mid-morning. Felix is sitting at a desk, going through emails on his computer.
Let's see, junk mail, junk mail, unsatisfied customer, that one overly friendly guy who sends an e-card every time we perform an exorcism...looks like the usual.
