OK, here's where this thread is standing, with the unlocking:

Given the widespread backlash and complaining about certain aspects of the work (i.e. Dexit), we wanted to communicate very clearly what we are not willing to put up with: prolonged, circular complaining (or wonking).

Of course, with a controversial subject that has a large impact on the gameplay, Dexit is in one of those areas where there it may be on-topic to discuss it, but the nature of that discussion can wildly vary. As has been said elsewhere, we ix-nayed discussion of Dexit entirely because it never seemed to happen without devolving into that kind of complaining.

However, we're willing to unlock the thread after this 3-day cooldown period because the Pokemon General thread has been stable enough. And -

Can I discuss Dexit?

Yes. But if there is prolonged wonking on it, the thread just becomes an echo chamber of complaints and we do not like that. No one likes that. The same rules as ever apply. Be a constructive, healthy space. Have conversations about what you like, and what you don't like, but the thread should not get locked into a series of bitter complaints.

If you have questions or concerns about mod implementation or action, we have a thread for that here.

Alright? Thank you all for waiting this out. I hope we're all good now.

Not to bring up anything, but my love for Wooloo is entirely dependant on whether or not Ampharos gets to stick around.

Ampharos is really popular, I doubt it and any of the other monsters that they know are well liked (and that aren't non Kanto starters or legendaries) are getting cut.

What's all this talk about the anime? First people claim that a Sword and Shield anime won't be happening, and then they claim that it will happen but it will be delayed and it won't focus on Ash anymore? Can someone explain what the deal is?

There was an announcement for an announcement at the end of the month for the new anime. So far they gave a small bit of info on the new anime, which is that in addition to Galar all the other regions will appear in some capacity.

That's literally all we know, but people are freaking out over it as if their speculation about what exactly that means is fact.

Pardon me if I'm wrong, but we don't usually get Pokemon info in those do we?

The one thing I was reminded of when the Direct was rumored was the September 2016 3DS Direct where Su Mo info was the first thing out of the Direct.

Specifically, exclusive Z-Moves (Alolan Raichu's Stoke Spark Surfer and Snorlax's Pulverizing Pancake) and the early adopter Munchlax with Snorlaxium-Z.

Yeah, I also think of the Munchlax event whenever I think of Pokemon news in actual Directs.

Then again, so far they haven't shown all that much, and we are two months away from the release date, so they must take whatever chance they have left to raise the hype. If they feel they can, anyway.

At the very least, the starter's second stages would be appreciated.

Probably will get the starter second stages, and hopefully they don't end up being examples of "ugly-ass middle stage syndrome" like combusken and charmeleon, because (despite my issues with the games), Turner's been on-point IMO

Charmeleon is one of the more stylish and distinctive middle stages, though?

Distinctive, yes.

Stylish? Ehhh.... not really a fan of it, unlike the rest of the line

I've always thought Grovyle looked better than Sceptile.

Grovyle > Sceptile. And probably the coolest-looking middle-stage starter.

Doesn’t hurt that Grovyle is probably the only middle-stage starter to get a real level of spotlight.

Just as a reminder, we didn't get the second evolutions of the Alola starters until October 2016. The September 2016 trailer during that Direct was just exclusive Z-moves and the early adopter Munchlax with Snorlaxium-Z.

That being said, some of the announcements during trailers have been completely different than Sun/Moon's trailers, but it's a good thing to go by.

Huh? Combusken and Charmeleon look cool as hell. You want "ugly-ass middle stage" starters look as Croconaw (Though I think aside from Totodile that entire line is ugly, personally.), Pignite, Quilladin, Bironne, and Dartrix.

Just my personal opinion but I don't think Brionne and Dartrix look as bad as everyone says they do. Not a big fan of Pignite, Quilladin, and Frogadier, though.

Brionne and Braixen are the only ones that immediately came to mind when I think of starter mid-evos I like, Brionne more so.

I guess Dewott is cute, too.

Second stage starters got a bit of a middle-child syndrome going on, but I find them generally well-designed. Brionne had to grow on me, though.
