Probably the best episode by virtue of In Space being one of the better seasons.

As I mentioned in the video comment section, the DVD Phelous covered is even more of a ripoff when you consider it's on the second volume of episodes that were released on DVD. You can still get it for 9.99, and it has 26 other episodes.

Edit: Referring to the Darkwing Duck vid.

Wow.

I thought Dingo was what the bottom of the barrel looked like. But this? This is what it must must look like when you believe that you've reached the bottom of the barrel only to realize that you've been digging half-way to the center of the Earth for some time.

I hope Germany has better animated stuff than this and Dingo because otherwise what the damn hell is this rubbish?

Phelous takes a look at a promotional video for the Ghostbusters Pachinko game:

1. Fun video. Knew about Pachinko being a thing thanks to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episode "Rocky Just Wants to Have Fun".

2.

Found this a while back. This was used in Phelous' review of Goodtimes Beauty and the Beast, plus the Burbank Hunchback of Notre Dame vid. Any idea where the clip came from?

Edit: Clip came from Mortal Komedy Episode 5.

[up] I'm pretty sure that clip's from one of his old Mortal Komedy videos. I'm not which one, since I haven't really watched them, but I'm pretty sure that's where it's from.

I wonder if when the animated adaptations run out, he'll switch to the live action ones.

I'll wonder if he'll actually bite the bullet and review the Disney one once he's done all the other animated takes on it.

So mostly for those like me who were growing up before the internet became a thing, or did so independent of it, anyone here ever see movies such as the one cover by Phelous and other reviewers made to cash in on Disney fairy tales?

Whether they are titles covered or not?

My experiences: 1. Watched Bevanfield Aladdin in 93 as my babysitter's kids had it on VHS.

2. Not reviewed by any yet, but I saw the Burbank take on Peter Pan as Nick aired it in the early 90s during an afternoon.

I remember watching The Jungle King at my cousin's house back when I was very little. That'd be one I'd like to see Phelous review, since I don't remember watching a lot of animated mockbusters growing up.

Oh and that Friendzone clip I asked about specifically is from Mortal Komedy Episode 5.

I'm editing it into that post.

So just to give some more comments on the subject of his past reviews especially since we had a more recent Bat B/Fairy Tale review:

1. Yeah his review of Bevanfield Aladdin especially is kind of like Psychoman #1 and some other comics reviewed on AT 4 W where Linkara is telling a character to be impressed.

That comic strip I plug in my signature? Phoebe and Her Unicorn also has people in say the presence of a Unicorn without getting excited or being shocked that they exist. The comic strip, however, does justify it not too long after it first started. Namely cause of A spell call the Shield of Boringness which lowers a human's awareness of seeing a magical equine.

2. Now I still need to check the original tale, but relating to a comment post in Phelous Ruby Spears Bat B vid, plus random searches is that:

- The Beast actually didn't want to unfairly punish OG Old Man, but the fairy who cursed him (for I guess turning what appeared to be an old woman away) prompted him to as a means of finding the one to break the curse.*

- Plus the rose gardens being off limits was a product of the time with it being understood that you take only things offered. Of course Old Man still was presumptuous with food and lodging being offered as opposed to the master of the castle having to attend something suddenly.**

- Apparently the whole dying of loneliness/grief was him threatening to commit suicide which again makes Disney's liberties all the more appreciated.

That said if anyone who frequents the thread did read the original, besides confirming/denying above, I'm curious:

Beauty's sisters being off-putting might be a result of various mockbuster versions running too short. Like is their sister being named Beauty officially a factor in the original that contributes to their disdain for their sis?

Besides them not being fleshed out, you could say that adaptation wise it's like how adaptations of Stephen King books tend to make bullies the irredeemably evil to where even causing one's death isn't an issue.

Even factoring that some versions have the Prince being punished for heartless, do they transition from being bratty to well murderous?

3. Have to really wonder why Golden Films took the approach of making the Prince flatout evil as opposed to well an major ass. The other cash ins at least are mostly just copy, cutting and pasting the original with some quick snips. Good Times and Ruby Spears even being some of the closest examples barring say RS' coloring being more dark and having the Prince be at fault for the curse.

And really without ranting too much about gender dynamics in the 90s, even some good works had moments which don't jell with today entirely. So most aren't really giving the story any thought, but the Golden Films one adding that the Prince intentionally has blood on his hands meant some thought was given. I mean I might have had the ghostly trio being say responsible for him being cursed by the standard evil fairy bit, thus explaining their presence. Fits with them being eager to set up Senior Mustache too.

-*While the aforementioned ghostly servants did factually plan for Beauty's father to be caught and thus resulting in him sending his daughter, the Beast's servants if you think about it arguably aren't much better.

Clara from Good Times for example when informing Beauty of the well Beast dying, snaps at her with "As if you care" or her Bevanfield counterpart actually being there to greet Old Man doesn't mention the flowers to be off limits. Presuming they might have known about their respective Beauty before her father even showed up, it's like they believe it's her duty to sacrifice her own well being to help their master. Yeah, value dissonance and all that I suppose.tongue

-**Watched the old HBO cartoon Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child which had a Bat B episode that you guessed it, did follow the same beats covered in various Phelous vids and not really good.

But? It seems the writers did attempt to minimize the stupid. The garden is behind a locked gate which Father still tried to get. Means that he really is a jerk (Shocking isn't it), but yeah makes it slighty less questionable for the Beast to take issue with the rose picking.

Plus when Beauty states her desire to go back to the castle, her siblings do infact bring up the fact that he threatened to kill their father over a flower.

I'm surprised that he actually responds to comments in youtube sometimes.

Like I once misheard him saying that book an animation was based on was equally as worthless as the bad animation and he responded to that ^^; Hope he wasn't too annoyed x'D

Yeah shortly after his review of Mortal Kombat Defenders of the Realm Episode 7, I asked if he would go into the USA Network's Warrior King crossover loosely tying the next episode to Street Fighter, Savage Dragon and Wing Commander Academy. And he did respond that he would cover it.

Joking aside, he's from Mortal Kombat: Conquest. Phelous reviewed every episode of the series, kind of like what he did with his Next Mutation videos.
