The scene of Jill Valentine, the dogs and the matchbook keep bothering me.
A scene that could have been the time to shine for Jill was ruined so that Alice was the heroine.

And I imagine the same thing will happen in this movie, the hunters who are supposed to be tough and skilled warriors will be degraded to red shirts, so that Alice will be the hero who kills all the monsters.

Empire magazine has an image of Jovovich's character wielding two blades from the game◊.
Apparently, Jovovich has experience playing the game.
Uh...
huh.
So she at least knows the basics... Good. Hopefully the filmmakers are knowledgeable about MH as well
"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."I find it funny that we have another fantasy movie adaptation with a protagonist with the name "Artemis". Hopefully this one doesn't screw up being faithful to the source material unlike the other one.
Sorry for the double post, but turns out the movie will be delayed to April 23, 2021.
Pretty much expected seeing how we don't have a trailer for it yet.
Speaking of which, trailer time.
It's been 3000 years…Pretty sure I don't need to see the teaser to know that plopping people from the normal world into the fantastical world is so done to death that instead of beating a dead horse, they're just beating a pile of mulch that's bizarrely shaped like a horse.
Let me know when we get a Monster Hunter movie that has us actually following Hunters and not normies who learn to be Hunters.
Couldn't we have gotten an anime instead?
Wake me up at your own risk. The only credit the movie gets is the Diablos being 100% like the game one
"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."I do appreciate the roar being exactly the same.
Still not likely to watch this.
The plot point of having modern soldiers involved at all is beyond stupid. It is an enormous problem.
That said.
So far it seems to be the only problem. That was definitely Diablos.
I imagine it'll be like a lot of shitty licensed movies. Great special effects but dogshit plot and acting. This might be Just Here for Godzilla literally, any fans will be going not to see Jovovich but whichever monsters they decide to use.
I'm hoping it will be like the Bay Transformers movies where the soldiers can hold their own but aren't necessarily better at killing the monsters than the hunters.
Yes, I know I'm asking for a movie to have something in common with the Bay Transformers movies but I'm at least suggesting they borrow one of the better ideas.
We kinda already got a Monster Hunter anime.
I jest, but I know what you mean.
And wait, the movie's coming somewhere in December 2020? Not sure if that's the best plan, chief...
Hey, if it bombs super-hard along with being critically thrashed, we won't get a second.
Last I heard, it wasn't coming out till April.
Now, who knows what the state things will be then, but hopefully more people will be able and willing to go to the theater.
I figured it all out. Milla is playing Alice from Resident Evil entering a new Capcom game! She's now the Mary Sue/director's waifu for all of their games. She'll kick Guile and Ryu's asses in a Street Fighter reboot next. Imagine what Dante can learn from her.
This is the Capcom Cinematic Universe.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984The worst thing is that making a movie should not be complicated, it would be something like The Witcher, but with several hunters.
What we get: An isekai.
How else would audiences relate to the characters?
Swear to God, Hollywood execs seem to treat Viewers Are Morons like bloody gospel.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen. My friends recently introduced to Monster Hunter. One thing I found out was that the series has a bunch of interesting lore you could do something with but it looks this movie decided to go fuck that.
So for relatability purposes, would rookie monster hunters have worked as main characters?
Yeah this basically an American adaptation of Gate. Hopefully, with less jingoism.

A lot better, probably.
If the RE movies are a sign of what's to come, I expect this to be an excuse to have Mila kick butt and look hot and not much beyond that.

Wake me up at your own risk. That's the frustrating part. The setting has plenty to work with already. Going this route with it is painfully boring.
That would've worked fine. You play as a rookie monster hunter in every game besides World, so all you'd need to do is make them a proper character instead of a blank-slate player character.

The RE movies might have been less frustrating for fans if they left out the characters from the games and just focused on Alice.
