I say Keep Until Better Image Suggested as a Visual Pun if it's not a copyright violation. If the uploader bought the pic, is it OK to use? Surely the license allows you to use it on websites.

I tried using https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/img_list.php to find out who uploaded it, but it doesn't show any results when I search by file name, and I don't even see a prompt to go past the first 400-image page.

Pull. It's just a random picture of a mouse; the joke doesn't work without the caption, making it a similar case to Just a Face and a Caption.
In contrast, the Visual Pun on Seinfeld Is Unfunny works without the stinger on the main page, and doesn't even have a caption.

Any image is better than none, unless there's a legitimate copyright concern. We didn't buy it, but the stock photo page says the image was taken in 2015. The image we are using was added sometime during the page's pre-history (that is, before 2013), and the previous thread — which discusses "a picture of a mouse on it" — was in August 2011.
It could be that the stock photo site's information is wrong and that the photographer only uploaded their mouse images in 2015, or they stole it themselves and didn't know when the images were taken. The cynic in me leans towards the latter.
That, plus the fact that the image is kind of funny, I say Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

The image's been on the page since 2010, so Alamy shouldn't present any copyright issues. I still say Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

TinEyeing the image, I can't find any stock photo results from before 2013 but I can find copies of the image dating back to 2008. It was probably taken before then and uploaded to Alamy more recently, (the oldest version I can find from them is from 2014) and crawled by TinEye on Alamy and Age Fotostock more recently. Certainly we can't just assume they stole it from us.
Just to be safe, we should pull it. We could replace it with a different mouse image, but there's still no consensus or whether to do that or not have a Visual Pun at all.

Okay, we have to use that one.
The image has been around for a long time and I understand the joke, but a picture of a mouse doesn't exactly illustrate the trope.
