The RP can be found here!

We also have a discussion thread!

In all of our lives, we have heroes and villains. Sometimes, due to circumstances, we ourselves choose to be heroes, but some of us end up becoming villains whether by choice or not. Whether we choose who we want to be, it is all based upon our perspective of whether or not our ideals can be proven to be correct or not.

Earth, a simple realm where dreams no longer have the power to become reality, has fallen from grace due to a lack of heart from the races living there. There are no ‘heroes’ or ‘villains’ who can be relied upon by the masses anymore. Instead, the world has grown stagnant, following a singular path and sacrificing the dreams of the many in order to reach its final destination.

Though, what happens on Earth is simply a tale for another time.

Instead, let us focus upon you. Yes, YOU. You have always held potential whether you realized it or not. Perhaps an event made you stand out from others, making you see the world in another light. Maybe your willpower was stronger than others, allowing you to never give up. Or, just maybe, you are sitting by death’s door with an incurable disease… yet your desire to live is the only thing preventing you from dying.

Whatever quirk you have, it is because of that that you have been given a chance.

It is because of that chance that you find yourself here in the world of Lotus, a world parallel to Earth where fantasy and dreams have, and can, come true. Perhaps you were sickly and ill, unable to walk or leave your bed… but here, you will find that your sicknesses are gone and your inability to walk has now changed, allowing you to run freely. Perhaps the loss of a limb or organ prevented you from doing things? Have no fear, for here in Lotus your body has been made whole once again. Though, burns, scars, and other things will not disappear… Lotus isn’t quite that gracious after all.

Everything, and anything, is possible in Lotus, The Realm of Dreams.

Though, surely you don’t believe this gift of living in a new realm where the line between real and imaginary was blurred was given to you for free, do you?

No, no… You have been chosen to replace those who have passed, those who once lived as heroes and villains in this land, who used to uphold their ideals whether they were seen as correct or wrong. However, how you will be titled and seen by the denizens of Lotus will be based upon your actions. Sometimes heroic deeds will be seen as villainous by some, while evil deeds may lead to a happy ending for others. How you act and behave will of course have repercussions, along with how your newfound abilities will develop.

So, I suppose the only question that remains now is: how will you change and nurture the blooming flower that is Lotus?

Hello, and welcome to Lotus! My first ever RP! (And coincidentally my first post ever... Hello everyone! Please be nice to me >_<)

Lotus, and it’s contents, are heavily inspired by a ‘’ton’’ of my favorite anime, games, and other media; most notably Pokemon, Fate/Stay Night, Assassin’s Creed, Bleach, Lord of the Rings, Warcraft/World of Warcraft, and many others!

There are tons of different things to do and discover in Lotus, ranging from mind-numbing quests, dungeon adventures, slaying epic creatures, affinity-based decisions, and even searching for loot! Lots and lots of loot!

Oh, and while Lotus is mostly a Player vs. Environment kind of RP, depending on how players play and what they do, it can easily turn into a Player vs. Player kind of RP. There is great freedom to be had here!

Speaking of freedom, let’s get to the freedom of character creation!

There are a total of four Primary Attributes, with a subtotal of thirteen skills.

  • Body – Your entire being. How strong, fast, and quick of thought you are all depends upon your body.
    • Strength- Your physical strength.
    • Endurance – Your body’s true limits how much you can handle before getting tired and how many blows you can take.
    • Agility – One’s dexterity and flexibility.
    • Mind – One’s intelligence, mental fortitude, and how quickly one may ‘break’ given a tough situation. The ability to determine the proper course of action and ability to adapt mentally.
  • Magic – The power to manipulate the very energies around you.
    • Destruction – Chaos, causing death, and destroying things... How well you are at controlling the powers of the elements and using them to wreck havoc. The ability to destroy.
    • Restoration – Healing and restorative abilities. The ability to restore and grant life.
    • Alteration – The powers to bend reality to one’s will, and the power to create things that should not exist. The creation of what someone would call their own reality would be easily achievable with this ability.
    • Illusion – Manipulation of realism and imagination. The power to trick, deceive, and persuade those around you.
  • Survival – How well you are versed in the arts of, well, living.
    • Cooking – The ability to create meals that can grant boons to those who eat.
    • Enchanting – The ability to imbue magic and power into objects.
    • Crafting/Smithing – One’s ability to create objects ranging from everyday things, to tools of the trade, to even forging weapons and tools.
  • Summoning – How well you are at summoning entities or weapons to fight by your side based upon the dreams, tales, and stories of fantasy.
    • Entity Summoning – One’s ability to summon someone, or something, to fight by one’s side.
    • Artifact Summoning – The ability to summon an item, weapon, or tool.

Everyone starts with 250 ‘stat’ purchase points. Letters equal a numerical number that can be purchased, with E = 10, D= 20, C=30, B=40, A=50, and S=100. Everyone, however, starts at ‘F’ in all of their skills, which is equal to above average in human ability. E is considered the peak of human capability on Earth, while A rank is considered superhuman level. S rank is god-level, where people could break things with a single finger, summon divine beasts, create tornadoes and meteors… etc. However, having 2 S-Ranks and 1 A-rank may sound amazing, but on paper it may not be so great compared to a more balanced character who can fit more niches, especially in the beginning where your character has no idea what kind of powers they have or how to use them.

Here’s the character sheet, along with an example character sheet at the end.

  • Name: What do you go by?
  • Age: How old are you?
  • Gender: Are you male, female, or something else?
  • Appearance: Describe what you look like! Pictures are acceptable for the lazy people.
  • Personality: What are you like? Are you nice, kind and friendly? Or are you more nasty and sinister.
  • Motivation: What makes you do what you do in the world of Lotus? Do you want to be stronger, meet a special someone, or do you want to become a ‘hero’ in this strange land?
  • Likes and Dislikes: Do you have a sweet tooth or the exact opposite? What kind of hobbies do you enjoy? List as many likes and dislikes as you can.
  • Bio/Backstory: What was your life growing up and before being taken to the whimsical world of Lotus?
  • Powers: What kind of abilities were given to you thanks to… being, well, you. Your powers should reflect the kind of person you are, want to be, and how you want to play as well.
  • Gear/equipment: What did you bring with you into Lotus?

And here's the example sheet!

  • Name: Amber
  • Age: 22
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Amber has long black hair that goes down to her shoulders. She has, surprise, surprise, amber colored eyes. She's burned over the left side of her body, and is essentially blind in her left eye... at least until entering the world of Lotus. She still hasn't gotten used to seeing with her left eye, so she keeps the eyepatch on since it is like a mask hiding her true self.
  • Personality: Amber is a friendly person, for the most part… She’s rather serious all the time due to the burns over her body which makes her hesitant to interact with others. Normally quiet and aloof, she can be friendly if people pry hard enough. Thanks to the incident involving her burns, she’s grown quite depressed.
  • Motivation: Amber… doesn’t really have a motivation so to speak. She’s just living life one day at a time.
  • Likes and Dislikes: Likes: Sweets, baking, games, and, surprisingly, girly things. Dislikes: Fire, people, and school.
  • Bio/Backstory: For the most part Amber lived a mostly peaceful life and lived as a normal person with no real consequence. Good grades, athletic, and a cook, she was relatively happy until a fire that she caused killed her immediate family. Ever since being taken in by her aunt, she just lives each day like it doesn’t matter.
  • Powers:
    • Body – Amber’s physical strength has increased quite a bit, allowing her to do things that she normally couldn’t do. Able to break through concrete with her punches and kicks, she’s quite the nimble fighter on the front lines.
      • Strength- C
      • Endurance – C
      • Agility – C
      • Mind – F
    • Magic – While Amber may be more than physically capable from entering Lotus, her true strength lies in destructive magic and her affinity for fire. More like a cruel curse, Amber is perfectly capable of controlling and producing any kind of fire now without it hurting her. Though, due to her mental state involving fire, it is quite possible that she could go quite insane, especially with how she could reproduce the event that lead to her burns by creating a new reality with her Alteration magic.
      • Destruction – A
      • Restoration – F
      • Alteration – B
      • Illusion – F
    • Survival – Amber knows the basics of survival, but her cooking seems to be a bit better. Her food heals more and sometimes can grant a buff or a boon.
      • Cooking – D
      • Enchanting – F
      • Crafting/Smithing – F
    • Summoning – Amber isn’t a magician, but she has played a ‘’ton’’ of games in her life, ranging from card games, board games, and even to video games. Thanks to being in Lotus, she’s able to summon creatures and beings to help her from what she’s played, along with lesser weapons as well.
      • Entity Summoning – C
      • Artifact Summoning – D
  • Gear/Equipment: Magic the Gathering cards (A fully functional white angel deck), the clothes on her back and body, and her trusty eyepatch. She also just so happened to have her Nintendo Switch in it's carrier case with a couple of games as well.

Here is some lore and notable areas of Lotus, with more being added later and as time goes on.

Elderless Woods - The Land of nature: Home of mostly orcs, trolls, and the elves, along with the beast men and centaurs. Ruled by the Orc Warchief. Druids and nature folks live here along with strong and powerful shamans. Many resources of wood, wildlife, and other of the like. The Aldori, ancient tree spirits who take the form of wisps protect and watch over the lands, and call upon the treeants to protect and serve the forest. They can also call upon the forest spirit to aid in protecting the forest spirits, a powerful high stag and a nature dragon.

Gorgond Mountains – The land of technological advances and mineral resources such as coal, iron, copper, and other ore. Dwarves and gnomes can be found in the mountains here, along with many humans and the Wolf-men folk tinkering with metal golems. A cold and rather harsh land, the machinery and the glass works, along with airships have been seen here. The rich mineral trade being poured from here along with the powerful mecha golems powered by steam and generators, along with steam powered mobile engines that fire off cannons with gun-powder have been quite interesting.

Erix'aad – A neutral land that is mostly a ravenous desert filled with dust and sand. The lizard men, gnolls, and goblins run this land, yet the Goblin Kingpin and black market ruler has a firm grip here. He rules with an iron fist over the spy networks, lizard men, gnolls, and goblins all over Erix'aad, along with the gold, silver, and gems mines as well. Nothing gets in or out without his knowing.

Sepulchrum – Where the undead are due to the cursed placed by an old god. They use bones as their currency instead of gold. Their lands are surrounded entirely by a massive wall, keeping them from leaving their lands and preventing anything from coming. They feast upon the living and are capable of regenerating wounds quickly. Not only are the undead here, but it is said that demons, abominations, and accursed creatures live here as well. The Queen of the undead, Shuria, has lead her people so far from starvation and disaster.

The Eastern Kingdoms – The human lands, and where most of the human population is at. Despite many humans living all over the world, many also live within the lands. Vast plains with abundant amounts of fertile land to grow crops and cattle. They have many food and the largest army with different versatile skills. They also have the Three Blade Knights of the kingdom, each with their unique skills all capable of taking down an army by themselves as well. However, they are also the closest next to the undead lands of Sepulchrum, and have had to divert most of their attention to them.

H’on – The land where the demons originate from, and where they draw their powers from. Most of the demons choose to stay here, especially the stronger ones. Darkness, true horrors, and true undead can be found here. True Vampires, fallen angels, and things that should never be seen can also be seen. Even those who have turned to the dark arts have come here. The angels and the demons are at a constant war, fighting in order to claim supremacy over the World Lotus.

A’on – The holy land of the angels, and where they draw their power from. Archangels stay here in order to combat against the demons. Beings of pure light, Archons, Ascendants, and holy beings that mortals have never laid eyes upon are said to rest here, ready to come and set foot upon the land if need be. The light of courage is said to spread and inspire those who just gaze upon it in A’on.

Interest! Very much interest! I'll make my charachter later today!

Is it selfish that I'm happy as we pass the setting sun?

  • Name: Maryland Marsdale
  • Age: 25
  • Gender: F
  • Appearance: Seconds before getting owned. About 5'4. I'm not lazy, I just work 9-5 and saving time is always appreciated.
  • Personality: Maryland's a very inquisitive person who thinks basically everything can be broken down and unpacked further and further. This also means she rarely takes people on their word and doesn't believe most people are really altruistic. She is fine around people, she's just sort of cynical of everything in and around Lotus; she doesn't think the world is everything it appears to be, and she's been thinking about the Lotus Eaters in the Odyssey a lot recently.
  • Motivation: Maryland wants to get to the bottom of why she was brought here; it all seems highly suspect to her, giving foreigners highly destructive power and setting them loose in a fairly stable place.
  • Likes and Dislikes: Maryland really doesn't like anyone who's indirect or dodgy of questions. She likes anyone with some healthy cynicism but doesn't have patience for a sourpuss by the same.
  • Bio/Backstory: Maryland grew up in San Francisco, successful in school but a little hard up overall; shit was rough when she was younger and she had to pull multiple jobs during and between school years from High School to College in order to stay afloat. Hard work, but worth it; she had a firsthand experience of how fucked things were for the lower class and her education showed her how things were going elsewhere in the world, how people's material conditions shaped their larger political situation. She went into Political Science in the hopes of going into law or maybe some form of government, changing things from the inside, but it was not to be. A freak construction accident as she was biking to the faculty office to defend her thesis—Hegel Returns: Materialist Realities of Power and Nuclear Proliferation in the Twenty-First Century. A crane tipped sideways just a little too much, hit a pallet of I-Beams, and sent one flying through the air like a caber toss to land directly on her, killing her instantly.
  • Powers:
    • XP: 15
    • Body – Maryland was already hours away from a college degree in Political Science and that does come through but what really changed more than anything was her ability to take a hit.
      • Strength- F
      • Endurance – A
      • Agility – F
      • Mind – C
    • Magic – Maryland is focused exclusively on Alteration and Restoration. She's especially talented with shaping metals and stone, but with an S there's not much that's beyond her if she can have time to figure it out. She has an immediate talent for combining Restoration and Alteration and fixing things magically.
      • Destruction – F
      • Restoration – B
      • Alteration – S
      • Illusion – F
    • Survival – Maryland was the one person in her college friend group that knew how to cook. She also has a lot of intuition around how easy it'd be to craft stuff with her existing Alteration talents.
      • Cooking – D
      • Enchanting – F
      • Crafting/Smithing – C
    • Summoning – Maryland thinks the summoned weapon cliche in anime and shit is dumb as hell and she's also morally opposed to conjuring up servants in general. She worked in the service industry for years, she wouldn't wish that on anyone.
      • Entity Summoning – F
      • Artifact Summoning – F
  • Gear/equipment: Maryland got a bunch of garbage wreckage that didn't make it after the accident as well as a fully restored version of the outfit she had on at least. She has a shattered phone, a mangled bicycle, and a bookbag shredded to pieces. Her thesis was unharmed at least.
    • Since arriving, Maryland also acquired a cloak of invisibility from some farmers.

Up on Melancholy hill.
#4: Oct 2nd 2018 at 4:29:45 PM

  • Name: Mason Hendricks
  • Age: 21
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Red headed with glasses, kind of thin, but not as thin or sickly as he used to be. Usually wears a tan jacket, black undershirt and a pair of jeans at all times. Well, NOW at all times. In addition, under his shirt there’s a sizable scar that trails veritcally down his chest.
  • Personality: Mason is extremely quiet at times when he’s in a new situation he’s not entirely used to. He does, however, show a lot of excitement in things he’s really passionate about, yet self-conscious about it. Usually apologizes a lot just to be on the safe side, but fiery when impassioned.
  • Motivation: He wants to live in the worlds that he’s only dreamt about. With the possibility of almost anything and everything at his fingertips, Mason wants only two things: To go on the adventures that he’d only dreamt of, and to be a Hero, and whether that’s to one person or all of Lotus, then so be it!
  • Likes and Dislikes: He likes feeling challenged and reading a new book, and trying out new things for the first time. He dislikes being useless, feeling weak and spicy food.
  • Bio/Background: Mason, growing up, wasn’t permitted to do much of anything, mostly due to his weak, ailing heart. Confined to a bed for most of his life, with warnings that pretty much anything would probably lead him to an early grave. Despite the life expectancy thrown at him being at the most fifteen years of age, he pushed passed that. However, sadly, at the age of twenty one, his body began to fail him, and despite attempts to resuscitate him, even as far as going into surgery, it was no use.
  • Powers:
    • Body: Being born physically weak, Mason was elated to find his physical shape was notably more impressive than it ever has been.
      • Strength: B
      • Endurance: C
      • Agility: B
      • Mind: C
    • Magic: Despite his expansive creativity, Mson is incredibly weak in terms of the magical properties bestowed upon by the Lotus. If anything, he’s very well skilled in healing magic, mostly because he likes to fight fist to fist, having never had the otpion to before.
      • Destruction: F
      • Restoration: E
      • Alteration: F
      • Illusion: F
    • Survival: Despite everything else, Mason is passable when it comes to cooking, at the very least to the point of self survival. And by “Passable”, I mean it allows him to eat without bedding himself for about a week.
      • Cooking: F
      • Enchanting: F
      • Crafting/Smithing: F
    • Summoning: What may be Mason’s proudest ability and the one he’s most excited to have is the ability to Artifact summon. Bedridden for so many years of his life, he engrossed himself in mythologies and mystical weapons as a result, from the powerful Mjolnir of Norse Mythology to the likes of Tetsusaiga from Inuyasha, and literally everything in between. He doesn’t summon Entitys’ though, as in his own words, “Why would you summon a Hero when you could BE a hero?”
      • Entity Summoning: F
      • Artifact Summoning: S
  • Gear/Equipment: He didn’t bring much with him: His iPhone, the clothes on his back, and a book of some of his favorite stories, mostly being Norse Mythology.

Enirboreh AKA Nixer from the domain of infinite floof. Since: Jul, 2015 Relationship Status: Non-Canon
AKA Nixer
#6: Oct 2nd 2018 at 7:39:08 PM

  • Name: Aileana (of the Isle of Arran)
  • Age: 22
  • Gender: Femalenote
  • Appearance: 6' in height. Thin and long-limbed, though not in a good way—rather uncannily in fact. Slightly pale, off-tint to the skin, which is also notably incredibly cool and smooth to the touch. Eyes are genuinely slitted like a serpent's, a smouldering green in colour and covered with the characteristic protective film—possibly the cause of her apparent lack of need to blink. Has several incision scars scattered across all her body, and overall has the appearance of an emaciated corpse.note
  • Personality: Soft-spoken, deceptively serene, and distinctly menacing. Aileana has an overall dangerous aura about her despite her outwardly pleasant and even occasionally maternal tendencies, however a few odd slips on her part may betray her inwardly callous and predatory mind. Quite possibly psychopathic in nature (though this isn't definite since her current mindset is a fairly recent development), Aileana has an increased sense of self-worth and a personal philosophical outlook to match it—one that relies heavily on the concept of forces beyond mental comprehension and how the idea of existence itself is relative to some creatures. As a result, she comes across callous to otherwise abnormal events and acts of extreme violence, simply viewing them as 'needed occurrences'—yet still carries an almost morbid fascination when it comes to them despite her insistence on their inability to be understood by conventional minds. A curious, theoretically-minded person, it takes quite a while for one to become used to her odd manner of thought, and even then her constant adaption based on new developments keeps her mind ever-changing and unpredictable—and the idea of forming anything resembling a close relationship is either laughable to her or simply a far-off dream. Aileana is convinced that she is on top of some philosophical hierarchy—and considers herself the 'apex predator' of existentialism despite her usual habit of slipping into the background and simply listening in. Much to the confusion of anyone in her vicinity when she abruptly perks up with some off-the-wall interjection. That and her tendency to take previous statements and warp them into whatever she sees fit.
  • Motivation: Aileana is a creature thirsting for knowledge—paradoxically only to prove her assumption that reality is but a chaotic thing unidentifiable to anyone. Lotus is an example of this—questions such as 'why were we brought here?' and 'why does this place even exist?' are but a couple in a long list she feels needed to be addressed. Plus is the matter of asserting her truthfulness and authority. But that can wait for when all the puzzle-pieces have been fitted into place.
  • Likes and Dislikes:
    • Likes: Quiet evenings, reading, taking long walks in the night. Enjoys her isolation when she can get it—it gets her brain running—however she is also equally partial to socialization and casual partying due to the enjoyment she gets from intellectual quarrel. Basically the type of person who enjoys theoretical lectures and gets bored by action movies. Also is fond of primarily meat-based snacks—her preferred assortment including a varied and strange list of exotic dishes. Her most favourite animal is (unsurprisingly) the snake—due to its 'going against the grain' in biology—and the symbol of the ouroborous is an integral part of her existential theorems.
    • Dislikes: Obnoxious or loud environments (and people for that matter), television (hurts her eyes/nothing's on/excuses are numerous and ever-changing), simple-mindedness, really dismissal of any kind. Selectively talkative but likes to be heard when she does pipe up, in other words. She also dislikes churlishness and irresponsibility—sometimes even cleaning up after other people without initial permission only to slam the door on their faces due to perceived 'rudeness' on their part.
  • Bio/Backstory: Aileana was born on the Scottish Isle of Arran before moving inland as her parents pursued a career in fashion-designing. Despite this, she has kept her regional accent and hails from her birthplace anyway—even after she herself moved abroad to America in order to become a lawyer. Whatever plans she had were unfortunately cut short as she was suddenly caught up with by a genetically-passed wasting disease that had plagued her family for generations now—and spent her 21st birthday bedridden in a hospital with little more than a celebratory bottle of alcohol to keep her company; the muscles in her limbs having slowly but surely decayed away into uselessness. Despite this—and her shortened life-expectancy making it unlikely she would reach her 25th birthday—Aileana seemed distinctly unperturbed, the trauma of all her hopes and dreams being so suddenly swept away from her grasp apparently having caused an existential crisis in the young woman (although she prefers to call it an 'epiphany'). Whether it was a coping mechanism or not, her fanaticism and insistence in the truthfulness of her developing philosophy about eternal return did next to nothing but disturb the doctors caring for her—but her conviction and newfound serenity was undoubtedly keeping her mental state calm at the very least ('stable' had gone out the window at this point). Still, her curiosity had kept her going strong—and at the very least she was as active as someone bedridden could possibly be (and incredibly chatty in bursts as well). Yet it seemed at the end of the day, her regained mental fortitude meant nothing when her body was steadily shutting down. Aileana's heart finally stopped beating three days after her 22nd birthday.
  • Powers:
    • Body – Her philosophies based around chaos, life, and rebirth (along with her personal fascination with snakes) have meant that Aileana's new abilities have been modelled on the concept of the ouroboros and serpentkind in general.note  As such, she has an increased flexibility bordering that of bonelessness, snakelike features, and a distinctly hissing and manipulative way of speech to match the 'silver-tongue' trait commonly associated with the snake. Her gained physical strength is nothing special—merely average, in fact—but garnered with her other alterations to her biology more than makes up for anything lost. Aileana also seems not to be bothered by physical harm—she can be cut up and killed, certainly—but she has no actual reaction to pain, which as one might expect can end up being more of a detriment than anything helpful.
      • Strength – F
      • Endurance – C
      • Agility – C
      • Mind – C
    • Magic – Aileana has gained only a few supernatural skills when it comes to self-usage—however her technical state as part-snake means she can bend the rules a bit and allow her usually purely snake-focused powers to be applied to herself. Her prolonged serpentine stare can cause a trance in those unaware and of low mental fortitude, and she has the ability to elongate and warp her body beyond expected proportions—allowing her to stretch her limbs, rotate her head a full 360 degrees, and 'slither' along the ground with no visible means of propulsion excluding the mimicry of the expected motions.note  Yet perhaps most bizarre is her silhouette and reflection—instead of showcasing the humanoid form that others see, these two things instead display Aileana as a teeming mass of enraged serpents ever-consuming themselves piled up in a vaguely feminine shape. There are no physical indications or other effects to this—it is purely aesthetic—but its jarring nature is enough to cause stumble to those bearing witness to it anyway. Aileana—due to her unconventional nature—cannot be healed by regular means (that is, traditional or magical) and thus has a self-directed healing ability that mainly manifests as the aesthetic disappearance of minor wounds when not observed and the reattachment of recently severed body parts via a mass of snakes escaping from either wounded point in order to forcefully pull Aileana's body back together. However, these damages to her external husk will actively collect despite her glamouring over them, and can only be permanently removed by Aileana's periodic cycle of shedding skin; in which she will be rejuvenated from all her physical injuries (though any losses to her serpentine masses will remain). The one thing these methods of bodily reconstruction have in common is how finicky/time-consuming they are—making them an issue in combat situations.
      • Destruction – F
      • Restoration – D
      • Alteration – C
      • Illusion – C
    • Survival – Aileana has picked up some cooking skills during her time in the hospital, but her food does not unfortunately come with any supernatural effects other than being exceptionally delicious. She is also fairly intuitive when it comes to crafting tools and weapons for basic survival needs—yet this rarely extends beyond 'i have a pointy stick and i not afraid to poke with'.
      • Cooking – E
      • Enchanting – F
      • Crafting/Smithing – E
    • Summoning – Aileana's primary focus in terms of abilities are the summoning of her brethren—an army of snakes of all different shapes and sizes. She is rarely seen without at least one serpent coiled around her form—and she is often thinking up names for them based on the people she meets (she already has named a particular purple anaconda 'Addison' after a kindly boy she had met in her hospital stay at one point). Notably, Aileana can summon these creatures only from sources on her body out of direct line of sight—including her own.note   As such, she usually wears purposefully poor-fitting or baggy clothing so as to maximize the amount of free space available. An intriguing oddity is that whenever she is physically injured, baby snakes leak out proportionate to the wound in place of blood. Aileana also has gained a short-sword that behaves in much the same way—able to be summoned both from her clothing and out of the very throats of her summoned serpents.
      • Entity Summoning – A
      • Artifact Summoning – C
  • Gear/equipment:
    • Corrupted Blade: A short-sword she had discovered in the Vault of Stormguard Castle. Its presence emits a twisted aura that darkens its immediate surroundings somewhat—and it apparently is tied into Aileana's summoning powers. It also seems to have the ability of duplication.

  • Name: Julian "The Waking Eye" Courir
  • Age: 63
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: "This is all just a bad dream. It is time to wake up."
  • Personality: Julian is not a 'spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down' type. Harsh and intense, but rarely cruel, he feels that it is his right to pass comment and judgment on whoever crosses his path and, therefore, him.
  • Motivation: Everyone here is a fool and a spineless cretin. Do they know this world is fake and waste their time here anyways? Or are they so short-sighted they don't recognize this as an illusion that will cause them to waste away? Regardless, it is his duty, as a responsible adult, to bring whatever dreamers that are trapped here back to Earth, back to reality. This place is just some sort of bad dream and it was time everyone got their wake-up call.

    • Dislikes: People without strong opinions, people with strong opinions that aren't his own, fictional things
  • Bio/Backstory: Julian did not have an easy life. At a young age, his family fled France to seek a better life in the United States of America. His father, despite his education and working experience, found it difficult to make it in this foreign country, since they did not speak the same tongue. Over the years, faced with a wife and a now teenage son that he felt were disappointed by him, Mr. Courir fled the home with an American woman he had fallen for. Mrs. Courir, now without any work experience herself and crushed by her husband's infidelity, fled in her own way. Leaving Julian by himself. But he was not his parents and he did not flee. By 'pulling himself up by his bootstraps', Julian put everything into making a better life for himself and carved out a successful living through blood, sweat, and tears. Did he butt heads with people often? Of course, but you don't make something of yourself by lowering your head when asked. Did it sometime strain his home life? Of course, but the family had to know who was in charge. Life was, in Julian's opinion, good. But one (1) day, he woke up in some strange land. A land that was clearly fake, as was so eagerly explained by one (1) person Julian met early on. A wretched dream where those who lacked the gumption to tackle their problems head on could hide and waste away. Now Julian was brought here and he knew why: to wake this daydreamers up so they can live in the real world with the rest of the world.

@Enirboreh: Aileana is very interesting! My only real 'nitpick' would be the part about bleeding baby snakes. To me, that sounds like it would fit under more of a 'magical' skill, such as Alternation or Illusion ability, or even a high Summoning (which you already have so that's perfect) rather than something physical, since such an ability sounds to me like it would be distorting the 'natural' and normal world (or what would be considered natural and normal in Lotus) in her favor.

Other than that, she's accepted!

Edit: Taco is right! You are 10 points short, Enirboreh. Feel free to add those points in somewhere, or keep them stockpiled for later on when you accumulate more points. The decision is up to you!

@Evil Paladin: Julian is accepted! Having a tanky powerhouse who keeps people in line will definitely be useful here!

Noted on the bleeding part. I'll move that into summoning and instead leave the pain negation on its own. Also upped her Endurance from a D to a C to make up for those points.

(I think that's right...)

Edit: Also, I just recalled a potentially interesting quirk of hers – her reflection and shadow show not a humanoid but a teeming mass of enraged snakes in a vague human shape. Could add that into Illusion or Alteration...

This looks cool! The Fate/Stay Night inspiration is particularly well-done. I'm in for sure. (I'm going to import one of my characters from a previous RP that I was in. I hope you don't mind!)

  • Name: Shannon Hawkins (Current EXP: 0)
  • Age: 10
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Shannon is a girl with light brown eyes and waist-length black hair that she wears in two thick fishtail braids. She wears a tan duffel coat over a white button-up shirt, a black pleated knee-length skirt (with bloomers), knee-high woolen socks, a pair of flat-heeled leather boots, and a pair of black rectangular wire-rimmed glasses. She is 5'0'' and weighs 100 lbs.
  • Personality: Shannon is generally an inquisitive and quiet girl, which makes people think she is shy. She like to ask a lot of questions about things, and doesn't like it when she's not given a good reason to do something. If she feels that something is afoot, she will be the first to go and see what's up. She can be quite audacious and bold, given the right reason. Above all, she wants to make friends, as she's never had many.
  • Motivation: Shannon wants to explore this strange new land, make new friends, help people who can't help themselves, and have fun, not necessarily in that order.
  • Likes: Eating sweet things, listening to stories, books/reading, making new friends, engaging in deep conversation
  • Dislikes: Haughty people, overly stuffy adults, people who try to discourage dreaming, people who damage books
  • Bio/Backstory:
    • Shannon is from a strict Catholic family who discouraged her from reading non-Christian literature and listening to stories about "heathen heroes." She found a way to slip under the radar, however, and read every book she could get her hands on. Shannon managed to increase her knowledge a lot without her family knowing.
    • They sent her to Catholic school where she found few friends due to her "strangeness." She resorted to making up stories in her head about ancient heroes and acting them out. She secretly acquired some sketchbooks and created a mixed-genre setting using her knowledge of high-fantasy novels, writing her notes down on scraps of newspaper, which she then hid under her mattress.
    • Eventually, one fateful summer night, Shannon saw a strange glow coming from under her bed. Poking her head in, she saw a strange new land! Hurriedly assembling supplies, she went on an expedition to the strange land under her bed. That's how Shannon found herself in Lotus...
  • Powers:
    • Body (Shannon was never particularly good at running in PE, and her negative feelings about it lead to Lotus granting her some better physical abilities. Her mind, her greatest boon, was amplified to better allow her to command her summoned friends.)
      • Strength: F
      • Endurance: E
      • Agility: E
      • Mind: C
    • Magic (Shannon's natural inclination to help people and her ability to plot and lie has manifested into some degree of magical skill. After her arrival in Lotus, she manifested some skill in Alteration magic due to the subconscious desire to be like her characters, and by extension, the heroes around her. She can now gain a small share of the abilities and skills of her characters. Whether she'll develop yet more abilities relating to her stories remains to be seen...)
      • Destruction: F
      • Restoration: D
      • Alteration: D
      • Illusion: D
    • Survival (Shannon became good at cooking through being assigned to kitchen duty at her Catholic school as punishment for daydreaming one too many times in class. Her food can grant moderate buffs and tastes extra good, too.)
      • Cooking: C
      • Enchanting: F
      • Crafting/Smithing: F
    • Summoning (Shannon has made up a lot of characters to fill up her fantasy world. They mostly reside in her sketchbooks until she needs them. Some of her Entity Summoning abilities have spilled over into her Artifact Summoning abilities as well. Now she finally has friends who will never leave her...)
      • Entity Summoning: S
      • Artifact Summoning: C
  • Gear/Equipment: Shannon brought a leather rucksack, several changes of clothes, a canteen, a lighter, a hunting knife, a pair of binoculars, some food/snacks, her sketchbooks, and some art supplies into Lotus. Some of these items were considered contraband by her family and were stuffed away under a loose floorboard, leading to them being slightly dented, chipped, or otherwise beat-up. Shannon doesn't mind, though. It just makes everything feel more adventure-y.

I'm not sure if I'd join or not (I had a hard time catching up with the last forum RP I was in) but I am tempted.

Due to my tendency to play furries non-humans I'm tempted to go for someone who ended up in the world with a non-human body if that's allowed (so far I'm leaning to what is essentially a bipedal human-sized dragon)

Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree.

  • Name: "Tibalt of the Five Lands"
  • Age: 29
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Tibalt is very normal. He's a little taller than average and but otherwise he has really a lack of any physical traits that would be useful in a fantasy world. Short brown hair, darkened hazel eyes and skin that's pale from far too little time beyond the confines of the home.
  • Personality: Tibalt doesn't get angry. Correction; he gets angry just as much as he gets sad or encouraged or stunned into silent wonder, what he never does is get reckless. His mind is always ticking away, trying to catch every pertinent piece of information he can and figure out the best thing he can do whether that be rejecting a pattern of the world or embracing it.
  • Motivation: Tibalt wants to be a hero. More than that he wants to be a good hero, one that has a good time and obtains comfort and glory and most importantly lives. In the wakened world he indulged in fiction with the trappings of this new world and now that he's here it's time to put all his thoughts of tropes into action. And what better way to live well in a fantasy world then to be a travelling and trading heroic bard with true companions?
  • Likes and Dislikes: Tibalt kinda loves chocolate and hard mints and it's been hard to get his fix. He also was a fan of gaming and one of his frank statements on the world is that unless it's gambling or chess noone in this world seems to be interested with breaking out a board and dice.
  • Bio/Backstory: Tibalt didn't always have that name, really one of the first things he did when he realized that this world could plausibly put stock into True Names was to come up with a new one. But before that crossing of the threshold he was... Painfully ordinary, a nerd in a world that was just starting to shift that from being a mark of shame to something mainstream, an existence that had reached a plateau of mediocre. His memory of stepping the boundary is murky, but that doesn't quite matter all together much if there's no sign of return to the ordinary.
  • Powers:
    • Body – Lean but untrained, Tibalt is perhaps not entirely suited for the adventuring life like a swordsman or muscled hunter might but he's kept some of his most important traits in the transition and there's always time to work out the rest.
      • Strength- F
      • Endurance – F
      • Agility – F
      • Mind – A
    • Magic – Magic was real, that much was certain. With his handle on things Tibalt had started to figure out that personal potential was all that guided it and that he had some potential of his own to utilize to his own ends. With a flick of the fingers and the right force of mind he could mend his true companions, transform their equipment to fit time-honored good omens and give them a subtle lie or grand manifestation to put their faith behind or mislead his foes.
      • Destruction – F
      • Restoration – C
      • Alteration – B
      • Illusion – C
    • Survival – It was a little matter to survive in this new world, but the problem was thriving, to that end Tibalt decided that as well as a hero and adventurer and true companion of a hero who might sacrifice themselves later he should pick up a trade and become a wandering merchant too. While the enchantment of objects would be a good means to that end, he really couldn't get the hang of it, preferring to lend his abundant creativity to more mundane craft.
      • Cooking – C
      • Enchanting – F
      • Crafting/Smithing – B
    • Summoning – There was something almost delightful that sparked in him when his magic weaved and brought into being a slightly still crude and misshapen being. Even better was when it took a knee and spoke it's pledge to serve.
      • Entity Summoning – C
      • Artifact Summoning – F
  • Gear/equipment: His clothes, an empty but sturdy plastic bottle, an umbrella and two card boxes; one full of strange cards and inscribed with a stylized dragon, the other modified after the journey with a solid padlock and written warnings, yet it sat empty for it was intended for an altogether stranger set of cards...
  • XP: 55/55

  • Name: Terry Heissberner
  • Age: 27
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: "A dream, eh? Interesting."
  • Personality: In this strange new environment that Terry is convinced is of his own creation, Terry is reminded of the video games he used to play as a child. Curious yet lackadaisical, Terry is eager to find what this world has to offer but would prefer to take it easy and do it at his own pace. Terry also displays a startling calmness even in the most dire of situations, yet while some might think he has nerves of steel, it's more like he doesn't really care about what happens in a world he perceives to be imaginary.
  • Motivation: The last thing Terry remembers was falling unconscious in his hospital bed, and now he is here in this strange new world of magic and myth. The only logical conclusion Terry could draw was that this world was a dream of his own creation, a final illusion before he passes. He's pretty sure nothing he does in this world will matter, so he will spend his last moments finding whatever excitement he can and doing whatever he darn well pleases.
  • Likes and Dislikes:
    • Likes: Exploring this new world and finding his place, video games and things that remind him of them, his old life, tea breaks
    • Dislikes: Not being able to do anything, medicine, heights
  • Bio/Backstory: Growing up in New York, Terry lived a relatively normal life. He spent the better part of his childhood playing video games, much like any normal kid. As he grew up however, he just became too busy, and stopped completely once he got to the later years of high school. In his college years, he pursued a degree in Business Administration, and became a small-time financial analyst once he graduated. The work was busy to be sure, but life was good. He was in line for a promotion, and he was just engaged to his college sweetheart by age 25. And yet, it always seemed like those who were happiest would get hit by the most misfortune. Not long before he turned 26, he was diagnosed with cancer. As the disease began to overtake him, he spent the final year of his life in a hospital bed, enduring treatment after painful treatment. At some point, Terry knew that it was hopeless, but he dared not give up for the sake of his friends, his family, and his life that he so desperately wanted to live. He never felt like he was ready to die. On December 27th, at age 27 years, 3 months, and 8 days, Terry slipped into unconsciousness, this time for the final time.
  • Powers: 5 XP
    • Body: Terry's always been the type to play it smart and fast rather than strong and... endure-y. And here, it seemed to be no different.
      • Strength: E
      • Endurance: F
      • Agility: C
      • Mind: C
    • Magic: Now this is what Terry was into. He played a mean bit of Final Fantasy back in his day and magic definitely seemed cool. Considering this world was a product of his dream, illusion certainly seemed fitting for Terry. The scope of his illusions allows him control over all five senses, the emotions, and even the reasoning of his foes. However, there is a limit. The requirement for such powerful magic is sensory contact. Anything from eye contact to listening grants Terry complete control, and he keeps control even after the contact wears off. And the more sensory contact that is in effect at a time, the stronger his hold becomes. He rounds it out with Alteration to grant him polymorph and shapeshifting, and some elemental Destruction so he won't be completely useless in a fight.
      • Destruction: D
      • Restoration: F
      • Alteration: A
      • Illusion: S
    • Survival: Terry was never the creative type, and enchanting objects is not really something he thinks much about. He was a half-decent cook though. That much he'll attest to.
      • Cooking: D
      • Enchanting: F
      • Crafting/Smithing: F
    • Summoning: Summoning weapons made no sense to Terry. Can't you just buy that stuff? Summoning entities seemed cool though, it's kind of like those Pokemon games. Unfortunately, he's out of points to spend.
      • Entity Summoning: F
      • Artifact Summoning: F
  • Gear/equipment: His wallet containing 22USD in cash, his driver's license, and a number of credit cards. His financial calculator. His engagement ring.

  • Name: Kirsti Pedersen
  • Age: 21
  • Gender: female
  • Appearance: this is her trying to pose for her silly Halloween pic, though her kitty isn't quite cooperative
  • Personality: On the surface, she looks like a sweet, gentle innocent Norwegian girl. She can be goofy if she wants to. But do not take her softness for a pushover, if she thinks you did some injustice, especially against something close to her heart, she'll...let you know, one way or another
  • Motivation: Well, considering that she has the power she has now, she realized that she can be an arbiter of justice she always wanted to be and more. Emphasis on the more.
  • Likes and Dislikes:
    • Likes:
      • Music. Genres don't hold any bounds for her taste, as long as it doesn't confine too closely to a typical pop song structure but rather, as she puts it, in a chaotic way that only nature can bring them. Kirsti does tend to stick with black metal and indie rock tho.
      • Animals, especially cats. She likes them enough to be in a diploma for veterinarian practice.
      • Nature in general. She just likes how there is no control of anything in nature and yet it became as complex as it is now without any human intervention, each seemingly unrelated elements just play into each other and how it can transition from calm and peaceful to violent and vengeful. She finds the thought extremely soothing.
      • witches. She just likes the power of magic, especially the witches that hangs out in the forest and drew power from nature.
    • Dislikes:
      • Order. Kirsti thinks that having any sort of power or order will inherently attract people who seek to abuse it.
      • Injustice against animals, nature and innocent people.

  • Bio/Backstory:
    • Kirsti grew up in a small town in Norway. Its a somewhat rural place, with the forest surrounding the area but that's the best part of town to hang out in. So that's where she and her friends hang out, from childhood all the way until college and they always were enamored with magic and fantasy, if not specifically witches. First, they play pretend as a kid to emulate one of those magical girl anime shows thats being airing on TV back then, and everytime they came across a stray cat, they would rescue it by taking them back to the forest and feed them cat food and then claim them to be their familiars.
    • As they grew up, though, their interest evolved into actually delving into occult stuff. Sometimes it's doing some gimmicky witchy stuff like ouji boards or tarot card, but most of the time, it was listening to black metal songs with the boys. It was the hottest thing in Norway back then. So hot it literally burns churches. Though her friends are in it for the energy and adrenaline, Kirsti was in it for the atmosphere and the lore. She's wasn't interested in Satanism, however, because he seems like a dick but more on the nature side, rebelling against humanity for its destruction.
    • that interest also directed her to research about history on her own, specifically the unsavory part of history that black metal bands sang about. And that was when she gets emotional. All those witch trials, including the ones that happened in the same country as she was born in, with all those people, mostly innocent women, being falsely accused of witchcraft. And the deaths of all the black cats solely because they're associated with witches. And all the compensations that the deads got back was a couple of statues and a flat ground. That's not enough, Kirsti decided, but she can't decide what is considered enough to her. In the meantime, she was focused on her education towards veternary bioscience.
    • During her semester break, her long time friend invited her out to the USA for a road trip to appreciate the American natural beauty. Of course, Kirsti can't turn it down. It was during this trip that they came across something amazing riding across the state of Ohio. A huge tornado tearing up the countryside. Kirsti had seen what a tornado looks like on TV but never in real life, let alone up close and personal. She does not know why but she just got out of the car and just stand at the roadside and look at the phenomenon, thinking that staring into the windy abyss gives her the answer she wanted, she needed. Kirsti can barely hear her friends frantically calling her back into the car as she walked towards the tornado.

  • Powers - Well, she ain't exactly the most athletic girl in the world. She does have a strong will though.
    • Body – F
    • Strength- F
    • Endurance – F

      • Alteration – F

    • Summoning – An ability to summon anything you want? Including cats? Who can turn that offer down? Not Kirsti, that's for sure. She can summon ANY cats that she wants, big cats, small cats, 3 cats in a suit, god damn!

      • Artifact Summoning – F
  • Gear/equipment: A smart phone with a solar energy power bank filled with obscure bands that she couldn't find on any streaming services, a bag full of clothes and a water bottle.

(Well, had to rehash my character idea after I realised my last one didn't work, sorry if it is rushed!)

  • Name: Skyler Skinner
  • Age: 28
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Lotus has turned Skyler into a bipedal western dragon slightly taller than a human (extra height due to long neck). Two thirds of his body is covered with smooth feeling scales, mostly red though yellow in the underbelly area. The rest of his body being a fluffy brown mane that extends from the top of his head to the end of his tail and white feathered wings. His head possesses short horns, slightly long ears that position based on his mood and eyes that look more like they belong to a human than a reptile, though still yellow in colour. His hands aren't too different from a human's aside from the claws and scales though his feet are digitigrade and have four toes like a dog or cat. Doesn't bother to wear clothes since he doesn't want to restrict an unfamiliar body and there really isn't anything to feel modest about.
  • Personality: Tends to be a go to the flow type with other people, unless he finds one to be unethical or idiotic, which than he is at best snarky and at worst aggressive (no longer bound to the shackles of "the customer is always right can do that"). He's eager to find new things to explore, especially if there are other people for the ride!
  • Motivation: Lotus is a second chance for Skyler, a chance for him to make something of himself. How he does this, that's not something the dragon is sure of but maybe hanging around others bought to Lotus might help give some ideas...
  • Likes:
    • The unfamiliar. The tedium of Skyler's old life means that he'd be willing to go for something new!
    • Just genuinely likes (non-idiotic) company. Just feels good for him to be around people.
    • A fan of fantasy and science fiction. He grew a strange attachment to non-human characters (particularly dragons), he may or may not have been a furry on Earth.
  • Dislikes:
    • Idiocy. He dealt with it enough on Earth he doesn't want more of it on Lotus.
    • Doesn't like talking about his old life. He wants to focus on the new one in Lotus, not the lame one on Earth.
  • Bio/Backstory: Skyler didn't really have a chance to get ahead. His grades where C-level at school from a lower class family, which didn't help his chances of getting to college. As such, he ended up with a dead end retail job where he dealt with annoying customers. Didn't have much of a face-to-face social life, mainly sticking to internet communication. It didn't completely fill the void in this life, going for escapist works. He eventually gained a fascination, seeing them as creatures free from the shackles that his own life would leave. Eventually, as a change of pace decided to get out to nature (bringing along easy to prepare food, since he didn't know how to cook). Wandering during the day he found a light that was bright even for daytime, curious he got closer and as he did the light got brighter. And when Skyler got close enough the light took him
  • Powers:
    • Body: Becoming a dragon has turned Skyler into a physical powerhouse. Is a true terror in close combat, focusing more on his natural weapons rather than manufactured ones. Tough scales and tolerance of hot and cold climates also make armour and clothing not so necessary. And the wings for his back are not for show, Skyler’s a natural flyer! Though it is a bit lesser than the physical might he was given, he still gained some draconic wisdom and determination.
      • Strength: A
      • Endurance: A
      • Agility: A
      • Mind: B
    • Magic: Skyler’s destructive magic comes in the form of breath weapons, coming in the fire, ice and lightning variety! Outside of that, not much on the magic use department, though he does have some self-healing magic for outside combat.
      • Destruction: A
      • Restoration: E
      • Alteration: F
      • Illusion: F
    • Survival: Skyler tended to go for pre-made or simple to cook food so naturally, he was never a good cook, a trend that continues on Lotus. And with his abilities being linked to natural ability, tool-based abilities are out of the picture as well.
      • Cooking: F
      • Enchanting: F
      • Crafting/Smithing: F
    • Summoning: Not much in the summoning department either. If he wants help he best get it from fellow adventurers!
      • Entity Summoning: F
      • Artifact Summoning: F
  • Current Experience/Total Experience Earned: 15/15
  • Gear/equipment: A small backpack with the arm straps ruined though the top strap still attached. It carries rations, water, a wallet with $20 with keys, around 1000 gold coins attached and a flip phone that'll probably run out of juice soon enough.

@Pentigan: Tibalt seems like a good-hearted individual! My only nitpick would be to describe his magic in detail more; like, what can he do exactly with his Alteration and Illusion magic? At the moment it is incredibly vague what he can do. Once that's sorted out he'll be accepted!

@Teh Stanman: Terry is excellent as well, but my same nitpicking applies here also. His magical abilities seem vague, and vague isn't really a good thing here. Just a sentence or two to describe what he can do with his powers will be fine. After that, he'll be accepted!

@Justa Username: Skyler is accepted!

Good to be accepted. Was going to have a teenager who was actually familiar with magic on Earth due to circumstances with an amulet but realised it would contrast with the theme.

Anyways, are we going to have the approved characters listed on the first post? And when is a discussion thread popping up?

I'm still new, so that privilege isn't available to me just yet in regards to links >_<

As for the discussion thread, I'll post one up as soon as the RP goes live!
