Alright, fair is fair. Phillips' comments regarding how they approached the material and the fact that Batman: TAS is referenced is another hopeful sign. One minor concern I had was how the film seemed to bear little resemblance to its roots outside of the very basics (Killer Clown, rich family with named the Waynes, premise slightly echoing Killing Joke, etc.).
But this new information alleviates that concern quite a bit. I'm hoping the movie will be something like Chris Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. A movie that, on the surface, seems to be a nominal adaptation but is much more faithful than it looks.
~Hail Muffins, ~Known Unknown, ~Theairman, ~Protagonist 506, ~Weirdguy 149 and ~Blueace, I feel overwhelmed (in a good way, don't worry) by your suggestions! Thank you!
"Scooby Dooby Doo!"Joker is looking to trounce Venom for the record of "highest-grossing opening weekend in October" with an opening of $82 million vs. Venom's $80.2 million.
To add insult to injury, Joker's budget is half that of Venom's.
As someone who's steamed at Sony for reasons that will go unsaid here, this raises my spirit.
How would this hurt Sony exactly?
~Targetmaster Joe: I get it. Sony Pictures bad. But you don't need to declare them as your mortal enemies because Spider-Man isn't (seemingly) in the MCU anymore. They have done Spider-Man movies generally well even though they made some controversial decisions lately. You're starting to worry me...
He think it will hurt Sony Pictures because Venom (2018) could be dethroned at the "best October box-office records ever" part by Joker (2019).
"Scooby Dooby Doo!"Nobody cares about losing the October records. It’s a dump month for festivals and Halloween movies.

Plus Sony will already have made all the money by setting the record in the first place. They wouldn't suddenly lose the money because another film (might) break the record.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Okay, it's basically what Andrei_Bondoc said.

Basic consensus: It's an amazing movie that's very well acted, but there will be worry that people will take it the wrong way like Fight Club, though that isn't the movies fault.
Two new posters for the film have been released.
Personally, these are vast improvements over the earlier posters which I feel are rather bland, generic, and (aside from the staircase one) fairly uninteresting.
Victims of the Aurora Shooting have signed an open letter to Warner Bros with their concerns about Joker (2019) and have asked the studio to donate to groups that support victims of gun violence.
Notably, the Aurora theater will not be showing screenings of Joker out of respect for the victims.
Loved that article. I think it raised an especially significant point about the movie possibly triggering survivors of mass shootings, the Aurora shooting in particular. I didn't even think of that until I read this.
This is definitely the Fight Club of the New 10s, that's for sure.
I've seen more talk of a Misaimed Fandom for this movie than an actual misaimed fandom that has manifested.
Isn't any movie featuring gun violence susceptible to trigger survivors, though?
Now I agree that it would be a considerate move to donate to victim groups.
Well, it hasn't released yet.
BTW, my sister said there's been a certain ilk of people complaining that Arthur's Love Interest being a black woman is typical "SJW Propaganda".
No clue what to make of that, other than the people involved being dicks, but that's hardly news.
Good PR, if nothing else.

No he did not. This inaccuracy repeatedly gets bandied about to specifically tie the shooter's motivation to the Joker and bolster people's arguments that this movie's mere existence is a bad thing.
Holmes then went to his car, which was parked near the exit door, changed into protective clothing, and retrieved his guns.[9][10] About 30 minutes into the movie, police say, around 12:30 a.m.,[11] he reentered the theater through the exit door. He was dressed in black and wore a gas mask, a load-bearing vest (not to be confused with a bulletproof vest), a ballistic helmet, bullet-resistant leggings, a bullet-resistant throat protector, a groin protector, and tactical gloves.

Was about to post this myself. That's long been debunked.
That being said, this is still a movie about a guy who snaps one day and goes on to kill people. A Batman related movie nonetheless. I absolutely sympathize with the Aurora survivors who have an issue with this.
I should also point out that none of the people who signed the letter, nor the letter itself, suggested boycotting the movie or that WB hold off on releasing it. Just that WB consider donating to groups that support gun violence victims.

I mean, the mug shot they took immediately afterwards didn't help, with his hair completely dyed red like a clown.
In any case, U.S. Military Issues Warning to Troops About Incel Violence at Joker Screenings.
Holy shit now the military is officially against incels.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Last I checked, the Joker doesn't have red hair.

Maybe he meant "Joe Kerr"?
