Well folks, it's official!
Bumblebee is "a new storytelling universe."
AKA, it's a reboot. No more Bayverse baloney!
Good! I hope to see Megatron commanding the Decepticons instead of being frozen on ice.
And I hope they are not going to be sticking with just G1-inspired designs. I really want to see Transformers Prime design of Soundwave (Predator Drone)◊ be fully realized in live-action. It's creepy looking and efficient for a character like Soundwave to do spy missions.
Good to hear the Bayformer Universe is dead. I haven't watched Bumblebee, should I give it a watch?
They already shown a G1 inspired design of Soundwave at the beginning of the movie but they could give a similar look to another character.
Personally i'd like to see the dinobots, I think an IDW-esque design would be good.
Didn't stop redesigns from happening. Especially when accommodating for a new vehicle form. I can accept G1 Soundwave on Cybertron since they don't need to resemble Earth technology. But if he should come to Earth, there's no real alt-mode that can fit that design without a lot of tweaking and thus I am really hoping they see the potential of a Predator drone aircraft.
And yes, you should go see Bumblebee.

We've seen Bumblebee change vehicle modes several times and his basic apperance stayed the same. I think it's implied that a cybertonian can only take vehicle mode similar to their original one, i.e. a car can only scan a car.
Oh thank Optimus.
They're going full throttle wiht Optimus Prime then?
Okay, now I'm hearing that they're making sequels for both Bumblebee and The Last Knight. The Bumblebee one will focus on Optimus and Bumblebee as a sort of buddy movie.

Yeah they had confirmed a sequel for Bumblebee a while back.
Why TLK is getting a sequel, fuck if I know.
Maybe they want to have 2 type of cake for people with difference taste. I just don't know who want a shit cake through.
E.T technically is a Isekai movieWasn't Bumblebee confirmed to be a reboot?
It was.
To be fair, it's the producer saying they are working on. And Working on doesn't immediately equate "It's going to happen" or that Paramount/Hasbro are into it.
Before TLK happened they were "working" on 7 sequels.

The reality is more that our definition of a reboot is different than those making the movies. Officially it was stated that Bumblebee was the start of a new "storytelling universe," people assumed that meant a Continuity Reboot but it very well could just be a new line of solo films instead of replacing the major ensemble films. Fans obsess over the continuity and lore, but the people making the movies were more about the spectacle.
Yeah, I imagine that Paramount eventually got tired of "These movies are shit" reviews and diminishing box office returns.
The government didn't know about said paramilitary group.
How? They weren't exactly subtle.
Oh I thought the poster meant Cemetary Wind. My mistake.
Bumblebee is on iTunes now and there's a feature that lets you see the full renders for some of the Autobots (namely Arcee, Brawn, Wheeljack, Cliffjumper, Ironhide, Ratchet) and Decepticons (Starscream, Shockwave) in the movie.
Anyone else love how cohesive these guys look?
I love that Arcee so goddamn much.
So when they bring back Shockwave and Soundwave for the sequels do you think they'll keep Bailey or get someone else?
I really like the shift in aesthetic, while there is still a push towards realism (befitting a live action film) Transformers look like they're made out of their alt-mode rather than looking like a metal skeleton with car bits draped over them.
This is most apparent with Bee himself.
I liked what was done with the transforming in the film.
Everything is very deliberate. I think part of that is from Knight's background in stop motion.
I like those renders doing a pretty deep cut about the alt-modes.
Like Arcee lists "spider," which is from a convention-exclusive comic (and figure) where she has a spider form (largely just because Blackarachnia was more-or-less the only female mold they had).
Shockwave has a Mazda RX-7 from a fictionless toyline called Alternators and "Steam powered warship" from some comic where the Transformers awaken early and meet Mark Twain and all have steampunk looks.

Baby steps. One does not undo a decade of Michael Bay in a day.
