Long live the king!
Yeah, that is true. And that's all we'll say on that subject.
Watching this movie again as we speak. I gotta say, Thanos might be the first person since Blonsky to kick Hulk's ass like that...and Blonsky wasn't so...thorough about it.
One Strip! One Strip!Right. James. My bad.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Another thing I noticed from my re-watch is Strange's reaction when Tony says that Steve would know where Vision is.
He quite obviously winces and walks away in frustration, reminding you that the break up of the Avengers was a very public thing. I can't remember if I caught that in the Theatre, but I definitely caught it here.
And Strange likely doesn't know the full context of the entire thing. At most the public only knows about the Airport battle, with only higher ups being aware of...the last part of the entire incident.
One Strip! One Strip! While I did laugh, Dr. Strange being one of the people kicking his ass makes no sense.
Maybe use some more cartoony characters for that.
A picture of a Black man being beaten down by White dudes likely shouldn't be played for a joke...or really, a picture of anyone being beaten down like that.
One Strip! One Strip!Okay...I've finished watching Infinity War a second time via Google Play.
Someone...someone hold me. Turned my laptop's brightness and volume up to max to best get into it and yeah, I think I actually feel the shock and spectacle even more in HD. Definitely has the best of those in the whole MCU. Once again I was on the verge of tears and even trying to catch my breath at points, with special mention going to Thanos torturing Nebula like he must've done for years and years (that fucking screaming and sobbing still gets to me). This is helped in large part by the cinematography and acting which are both incredible the whole way through. The action scenes are also all amazing, honestly the best assortment of those in the franchise Like, virtually everyone gets in on them and does at least something.
All of these I admit distracted me from some writing quibbles, of which there are a few. I'm still pretty iffy on how the Guardians were handled, I liked them well enough but some bits like Quill acting a bit jealous of Thor and outright forgetting Missouri is on Earth rubbed me the wrong way. Peter, dude, I like you but this isn't really the time or place to joke around about things like family tragedies. Also, have I mentioned Gamora (and, let's be real, basically every hero both alive and dead) deserves better? Because damn I wanted to give her a hug. Big ups to Zoe Saldana's acting helping with that. Hell, big ups to almost every actor here for bringing their A-game like I mentioned. And while I'm on the subject, I liked how Gamora and Nebula's reconciliation by the end of Got G 2 was reciprocated here...albeit in the most tragic way possible.
Oh, and no I'm not really mad at Quill for his outburst but enough's been said about that elsewhere. Or anyone but Thanos (and Red Skull to a lesser extent), really. He's gonna get his ass kicked and everyone's gonna be brought back to life and it'll all be worth it. At least, I hope.
Some stray observations:
-"Rabbit" is the best nickname for Rocket yet.
-Mantis putting on a mean face in the background at Peter's orders, blurting out "just like Kevin Bacon?" when Thor calls the Avengers the best heroes on Earth, and jumping in the background on Titan I found delightful little details.
-That credits sequence is still chilling.
-Gamora's big speech to Thanos on Vormir about how he's apparently come up short because he doesn't love anyone is all the sadder considering what happens soon after.
-Oh shit, Gamora's blood actually is green.
-The assault on Gamora's home world is uh, pretty shocking and heartbreaking.
-Most of the scenes in the movie, especially in the second half, don't quite happen in the same order I remembered.
-Thanos is...kind of terrifying, actually.
On my wave, passing oooooooonThanks, I miss my Guardians already. :(
On my wave, passing oooooooonUnpopular opinion: I didn’t care for the Hulk v Thanos fight. At all. Honestly pretty much the entire opening on Thor’s ship felt off to me. Not necessarily phoned in or anything; more just awkward, like they weren’t sure how to handle it and were looking forward more to everything that came after.
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyKinda, yeah. I think they knew that people are getting kind of fatigued on big CG monster fights. It's hard to give them the same weight and impact as actual characters on film — I think they wanted to start off with a fight but get to the meaty character drama as soon as they could.
I kind of feel the same way about Hulk vs Thanos. It serves its' purpose, but compared to the normal Hulk action scenes it stays in the same 20 square feet and Thanos takes him down almost too easily. Instead of a slugfest between two impossibly powerful monsters it's about as violent and destructive as a MMA fight. It could be justified with a combination of not wanting to go too big too fast (letting the Titan fight be the biggest sequence) and accounting for a bigger, better rematch to happen in the sequel.
I would have to rewatch it, but the movie in general felt constrained by the sets and the staging. The characters mostly talk to each other with their shoulders squared. The movie was also in a rush to get to the next scene, they don't dwell a whole lot on the implications of what is going on, just explaining plot, telling a few jokes and pushing to the next action scene.
I*m joining into the hug. And Ant-man and the Wasp style hug. Those are the best.
I think the slightly anti-climactic Thanos/Hulk throw down was intentional. The expectation is of a huge kickass brawl... Instead Thanos beats seven shades of green out of Hulk in short order. This establishing that a) Thanos is very, very strong and b) skilful and intelligent. This is a villain who won't be defeated by the medium of first to face.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."I think it would’ve been a bad choice to make Thanos and Hulk’s fight more over the top. The fight just needs to to communicate two things: that Thanos is very strong, and that he’s smart. Something more akin to Superman vs Zod tossing each other all over the city would obstruct communicating that, and exhaust the audience too early by displaying such a massive fight so early in the film.
Also they're in a spaceship.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHonestly, I am more bothered about the question where Hulk was BEFORE that fight. What, did he hide somewhere while Asgardians were killed left and right? I think the Russos were so focussed on having the "we have a Hulk" line that they didn't ask themselves if it made sense.
Banner might've hiddennote . Or been in a different part of the ship. It's a pretty damn big ship.

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Hulk is pretty good at hiding Behind the Black in these films.
I don't think so.
When we last saw him in Ragnorok, he was still the Hulk. We have to assume that he didn't change back until post Thanos beating.
But that's just my personal opinion. honestly, Hulk becoming Banner again, then turning back into the Hulk to help save the day makes the most sense.
One Strip! One Strip!Off ripping Thanos's other kids apart with his bare hands, or punching Thanos's ship in the nose? Which would've probably worked better than punching Thanos. But yeah, there was more to the ship than the bridge. At one point. Hulk could've super-jumped off to anywhere, it's excusable.
I don't mind it being a short fight. I don't mind Hulk being Banner-locked through the whole movie. Surprised it didn't pay off here in Infinity War, but I guess they had enough to juggle without having the rest of the cast try and keep up with the Hulk.

You mean James.
Am I still the page-topping king?

The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.
