Official art always takes precedence over fan-art unless the latter is the only way to get a good quality depiction. I'd say revert any such changes.

Revert.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? The question is now that Samus Returns is out, which pictures shall we use and how?
Some characters only have Super Metroid artwork, which is relatively outdated. While others are only seen in-game.
If possible, I say use artwork for Samus Returns for any character that appears in that game. And go from there. Or make a collage like Ridley and Meta-Ridley together.
The following pages are all perfectly fine as far as the issue mentioned in the OP. I've looked at the history of a few of them and there are links to this thread. Like, is this still an issue where are the affected pages? Courtesy links are super helpful here.
- Metroid
- Metroid II: Return of Samus
- Super Metroid
- Metroid: Other M
- Metroid Prime
- Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
I've found this page, which does have this issue: Characters.Metroid Samus Aran.
I ain't doing no votin' without seein' the pages doe
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyMetroid - Space Pirates is full of Fan Art.
So is:
Metroid - Other Antagonists
Metroid - Others
This has to go. Not only is it fan art, but it's also a horrible representation of the baby Metroid. Too ugly and looks nothing like an actual Metroid.
Also, I need to know what kind of quotes are they get for Samus. Haven't seen them in any media before, so help me clarify this.

Fanart isn't pullable by itself. It's just preferable to have official illustrations.
"Too ugly" is a subjective argument.
Check out my fanfiction! Not sure about where the quote about being afraid is from, but the quote about prison is from a Captain N comic. Specifically, this one◊.

If we're using quotes from non-canonical (since it involves game-jumping) comics, we might as well replace all of Mother Brain's canonical quotes with anything that Levi Stubbs said on the show.
In terms of the baby Metroid replacement, I did find this official artwork on Nintendo Everything.
But if there is a better option, then I'm all ears for it.
Also, the Chozo picture can be replaced by the Chozo memories artwork.
Should be reverted. We can easily find official art.
For Metroid - Space Pirates, some of the fanart is better quality as far as the art goes. Are we really just blindly reverting them?
Some of them don't look like official art. On Metroid - Space Pirates, this image◊ looks like a render, rather than something official. I'd prefer the fanart version,◊ assuming that's fanart.
Some of the "fanart" compared to the "official art" is difficult to differentiate as far as which is the "fanart" and which is the "official art."
Also, once this is over, can we talk about maybe locking these pages. The previous thread happened last year and it looks like it's a perennial problem.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettySome have to go, like the baby Metroid (I'm being subjective here, but I prefer the in-game sprite over that artwork).
Others I have to admit look impressive, particularly Ridley. But you have to wonder which artwork best represents the games and which are not. The Chozo artwork I already removed and replaced because that concept art looks nothing like the Chozo of the actual official artworks.
If it helps, we could make collages of various characters like Ridley or Mother Brain given their various incarnations. Just like we did for Splatoon.
Fanart has to go because it's an ultimately dishonest representation of the source material. If these were trope page images it wouldn't matter because illustrating the trope is more important, but we are trying to illustrate the work. Even if the official art doesn't totally match, it's still official and thus take precedence.
Also, I seriously doubt we have permission to use any of these fan pieces.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I've managed to replace a good amount of the images with official artwork so far.
Chozo
Metroid Hatchling
Luminoth
Metroids
The Ing
Emperor Ing
Metroid Prime
Dark Samus
A side-note, I also noticed that some of the fan art images have the names of the artists. Particularly these images:
Kraid fan art is done by Methuselah3000
Dark Samus is done by larosenoire1989-d4d3lrx
And Metroid Prime Core is done by chrysaetos
Other fan arts like the Metroids came from Metroid Database. I know because I went there recently and the artwork is posted there with the disclaimer that it is fan art.

I've replaced the image for Phazon. I'm trying to find a good images for Ridley.
Replaced the Ki Hunter artwork with an official Super Metroid artwork, if this is anything to go by.
Sadly, the Metroid Database does not have a clear high-resolution image of Ridley from Zero Mission. Speaking of which, I recommend combining both Ridley and Meta Ridley images together, like the Inklings on Splatoon.
I made a collage for Ridley (including Meta). It's by game order. How about it?

I'd avoid using 17.4 because that's specific to Smash Bros., plus I believe it's already being used in its character pages.
I like 17.2 or 17.3 for Ridley.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? That can be arranged. Although I like the Super Metroid one as well.
By the way, I replaced Mother Brain and Kraid with official Zero Mission art.
Here, Normal and Meta. I'm uploading it to the page.

I think 17.1 or 17.3 shows him more clearly, without having an awkward angle.
Check out my fanfiction!17.3. That image shows him attacking, and 17.1 has him in a more static position (he just seems to be floating or gliding). Since he's the scary antagonist, I'm more inclined to vote in favor of him in an active posture.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyPeople seem to like Zero Mission Ridley, so I went with it + Meta Ridley as it is the form people are familiar with in the Prime subseries. Couldn't find a better image for Meta that wasn't concept art.
The uploaded image by the way, caption included.

Well, I managed to get most if not all of the Space Pirates official images (and not fan artwork) on their page. I tried to find a group of Space Pirates picture for the whole page, but I couldn't so I went with the most iconic Space Pirate design: The Zebesian from Super Metroid.
Additionally, I included Mother Brain's One-Winged Angel form and fixed some of her tropes.
So that mainly leaves Samus to have her pictures be replaced. I will say that someone needs to get rid of that Captain N quote. I prefer canonical quotes and Captain N is at the bottom list.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
Awhile ago, someone replaced many of images for ''Metroid" and it's subpages with fan-art. I don't recall this ever being approved, but I do recall having to revert some Metroid images changes. It's being asked here and here if they should be replaced with official images, leaning to yes.
Any recommendations?
