Ugh, I just checked the TearJerker.Octopath Traveler page, and looks like I got the bad end of "up to no good". sad Well at least I can stop looking for a destination.

With the last bit mentioned in that entry, it seems odd that they so badly whiffed the dev team thinks of everything in a game where you can lead NPCs around.

It's been fun.

I wonder how some abilities work in that universe. Especially Bilfegan's Bounty. My headcanon is that it damages its target by transmuting its flesh into precious materials. If it had any element, it would be Earth, which is conveniently absent from the game (hence its Non-Elemental nature).

...I'm really at loss now for the sidequests, except for one which I know is simply a tough boss. So for now, I'm doing the shrines I hadn't done yet (the Warbringer is the only one left), then I'll try beating the dire wolf again.

And Then What?? I've got the Arianna sidequest, the Alaic sidequest, the Cordelia sidequest, but for all of those I'm stumped, so I guess it'll either back to good ol' "check every town again" or "give up and look it up in the wiki".

The Diarist sidequest too, apparently I need more than one item to inspire him again...

And of course, the final sidequest. I've done Daughter (II) and In Search Of Father (I), not sure what's next, or which "starter area" I'll have to visit again when the quest chains are complete.

It's been a while since I finished it, but the dire wolf boss, you want to be doing a ton of party damage to the boss and its adds to keep them off the field. Going for break whenever possible.

When I tried doing the cheese strat featuring Tessa, it always fell apart towards the end of the fight.

Even with a bunch more levels (65-75), two prestige classes, and cheesing with an all-Patience party, it still took me several tries to finally, finally get that dire wolf down. This guy (and his adds) hits like a truck, he's worse than any chapter 4 boss.

And I got the Cordelia, Alaic, Diarist and Arianna+Oren sidequests (in part thanks to the tropes page for the latter) (+Theracio III), only unresolved visible sidequest I have now is King Khalim.

And of course, there's probably an "In search of father (II)" somewhere...

Well, you seem to be doing well, keep it up!

As for me I'm still grinding H'annit to do her chapter 2 lol

Okay, I've done the King Khalim sidequest, then I found and solved "In search of father (II)", at which point Kit announced his intent to dive headfirst into Lyblac's trap (yeah, I couldn't help reading some of those endgame spoilers on the trope pages). Now what's left to do is find where that is. Given the spoiler about Hornburg I suspect it's somewhere in the Highlands, but I've been exploring those all evening...

Been grinding Olberic (and money), he’s at 25 while Cyrus and Ophilia are at 46 and Primrose is at 38. Is it a good time for me to start Olberic's second chapter with him as a merchant as soon as I buy him a better sword?

I usually have Cyrus as merchant. Lately I set Olberic as a hunter, since the stats match and I mostly only use his Warrior skills anyway.

For the majority of Chapters 2-3 my mains have been Alfyn (usually thief or hunter), Primrose (warrior), Cyrus (merchant, for the hp+sp recovery) and Tressa (scholar, gotta get that money), though by now I'm experimenting with less Crippling Overspecialization and a better job distribution.

Edit: Giving Olberic some Apothecary training would be good though, "Inspiration" works great on him.

Huh. Right now I'm running Primrose as Apothecary but I could swap jobs around.

Sorry for double post, but anyone know where the best place to find Caits is? According to the wiki Hoarfrost Grotto has a 4% rate but I spent an hour+ in there and didn't see any.

Note that I'm not saying you should play Olberic as Apothecary (I have no idea whether that would be good or bad), I'm only saying you should teach him enough Apothecary skills to unlock Inspiration.

It's a thing I forgot all too often in the early game: you don't need to earn the JP in the job you want to spend them in.

Okay, thanks a bunch! Dunno what to do with the jobs, really, so I just slapped Scholar and Cleric on Ophilia and Cyrus, Warrior on H'annit, and ...well, you know my Apothecary situation.

Might go and find the Dancer shrine, I hear Ophilia's good as a dancer.

Ah, I found the quest I was looking for. Mainly by retreading all chapter 1 overworlds from one town to the next.

And now, according to TVTW, it's the "last Wily stage" portion. I could at least confirm that indeed, you're no longer allowed to save. Or warp away. But at least you can rearrange/equip your party, and reading some spoilers on TVTW informed me that it would be important.

Good luck!

So, after a grinding session, I've gotten Cyrus and Ophilia to level 50, Primrose to 40, and Alfyn to 32. Stupid Chubby Caits kept running away, I guess I'll grind the Cultured ones from now on.

Secondary jobs are Cleric/Scholar/Hunter/Merchant. Thinking of swapping in H'annit for Alfyn so I can have Hunter covered and swap Primrose to Thief or something.

Okay, that final quest is pretty crap with the Checkpoint Starvation. After eight fucking boss fights, plus a long, grueling fight against Galdera's first form, I got killed by said first form without even bringing it down to half HP, because the party I had was way unprepared for those horrendous "must kill them all, or they respawn!" enemies. Which subsequently respawn anyway, but later. Or the "lol no, you can't cast spells but it's not Silence so you can't cure it either" status effect.

In the end, I shifted my strategy to "wail on them with soulstones". Oh and of course, I also lost all the menuing of preparation of my characters, since that was after the last save point too. Rage.

Worst part is I have a character who, barring the aforementioned status effect, could probably make mincemeat of this part of the fight... But what if I need said character for the second, harder part?

After reading more spoilers from the TVTW character page, it seems the second phase is a bit easier so I could possibly swap my two parties. Maybe I'll find the courage to try again in the evening (but this time I'll do my party adjustments before the last save point).

Sigh... I managed to put the boss into yellow, but soon afterwards he got the adds back up, this time without elemental weaknesses... And things started going horribly wrong after I mis-chose a Hired Help (I forgot the shared weakness was dagger, not sword), my characters started dropping dead due to timers, and the survivor was removed...

And then those I had managed to get back up promptly got combo'd to death.

I wanted to finish OT completely before I'd move on to the Hyrule Warriors demo, but I think I'll write this off, and if I ever come back (which the game really doesn't make appealing) I'll grind some more first...
