Roleplay
Discussion

You wake up in a town. You have no idea where you are or how you got there. All you remember before ending up here is everything going black and here you are. Looking around, it looks like there are quite a few people in the same situation as you. Confused and not knowing what's going on. On top of that, it looks like nobody's been in this town for decades. You and everyone else might be the first "visitors" in a long, long time. So get up, explore, and try to crack the code of Dusty Village.

Cringeworthy introduction aside, welcome to Dusty Village. This is a horror RP that can probably be best described as a hybrid of Silent Hill and Corpse Party. It takes place in the aforementioned town, Dusty Village, an abandoned town located in a sort of limbo. However, the players will discover they aren't alone in the town and that there are freakish monsters that want nothing more than to kill them. In this game, the goal is simply to find a way out or die trying.

If you're observant, you may have noticed the phrase "die trying" in that last paragraph. That's because this is a game where death is very possible. Don't worry though, death is less of a final stop and more of an ever-present obstacle. Dying will result in the killed character being stuck in a dark room separate of the town and suffer excruciating pain for about an hour, after which they are dropped back into the town with little to no ceremony.

Another thing to note is that anyone can end up in Dusty Village. They can be a child, teen, adult, or elder. Nobody is immune. They can be a soldier, a detective, a homeless bum, or even just a simple student. Nobody is immune. They can be American, European, Australian, or Asian. Nobody is immune.

Also, if you do end up playing as a character from a non-English speaking country, any of their dialogue will become the language of any listener's preference. It works the other way around, too. Anything the foreign character hears will also be translated into their prefered language.

Finally, here is the sign-up sheet:

  • Name: Sylvester Lagunov
  • Age: 60 (physically totally fit tho)
  • Country of origin: Germany (originally Russia though moved)
  • Abilities:
    • Marksmanship: Due to his age and retirement his skills have dwindled, he is still better than the average guy but not nearly as much as he used to be.
    • Due to his job he's well versed in driving steam engines (particulary the BR 24), not really helpful here though.
  • Backstory: Sylvester was in the Soviet army, stationed in Germany, there he found and shortly after married the love of his life. Shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall he retired from active sevice and remained in Germany where he got a job as a museum attendant for a Train museum where his main job was to operate the 24 009 and informing the visitors and things like that.
  • Personality: Normally quite bright, tends to laugh things off and is generally a person people want to be around. He's the kind of guy that after you think you have insulted him will laugh hard, give you a pat on the shoulder and give you an invitation to drink something with him.
  • Appearance: He's the one in the upper left with the cigar.

Question: What do you mean with abilities? Like, we are all normal humans so something like 'Good at Cooking' 'Has First Aid knowledge' and stuff, or did I understand something wrong?

Yeah, that's basically what I meant. Since this RP's based around ordinary people in extraordinary situations, I'm expecting the abilities to be pretty down-to-earth.

It's looking pretty good. Once you have give him a personality, he's added.

Done now, maybe I'm doing small corrections here and there, but for the greatest part this is finished

PINNACLE OF MAN
#11: Mar 28th 2016 at 1:17:06 AM

  • Name: Nikodim Malyutovnote
  • Age: Unknown, probably in his twenties
  • Country of origin: Russia
  • Abilities:
  • Backstory: His family lived in a remote village before moving to a city at the time of his birth. Nikodim's family life was rather... poor, and it came to be even worse once his father died in a war (presumably either the First or the Second Chechen War). At the ripe age of 17, his mother drank herself to death. Nikodim got a secondary education later and came to work as a bartender. However, he ended up in the Dusty Village after escaping after being nearly arrested after beating up and murdering a man of Caucasiannote  descent with a chair. It is unknown whether he was framed or really was responsible for the murder.
  • Personality: Aloof, not exactly social, quite detached from reality. Tends to be a man of few words. Hates being made fun of, hates bullies. Can be a very good ally.
  • Appearance: A chubby young man with grayish brown hair and green eyes. His left cheek is covered with some scars and is more reddish compared to the rest of his body - perhaps some disease? Nikodim wears a Christian Weston Chandler-esque shirt and black jeans. He is also purblind and can't see well.

I am the most suitable partner for Gaia. I have some bad news. You will not make it to Eden. This is the end of your journey.

[up][up]Sure. Having a consistent monster could be pretty interesting.

[up]It's all good except for one part in his backstory. Nobody is sent to Dusty Village for any real reason. Other than that, it's good.

If you would telegram me the history of the village and why it is like that, I'll get started.

Alternatively, if you haven't got any ideas for the village's history, I have some ideas... MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!

Probably gonna be rolling with a purposefully ambiguous backstory. I'm not gonna reveal it here so I'll just PM you.

Actually, let's get the mental manipulation outta the way too. I imagine players wouldn't enjoy not being able to control their characters.

No, it isn't mind control. It's just instilling certain feelings into people, and slightly twisting their emotions.
