Speaking of which, why are we getting so upset over something none of us are gonna watch?

i don't think it's being upset so much as curiosity and perhaps mild bewilderment that the show is still going on this long.

I'm bewildered, I'll admit, but the writing quality never declined all that much that I noticed, characterizations changed - Wanda and Cosmo went from being equally zany to Cosmo being the mentally retarded one, and Wanda being a stereotypical nag. But, que sera, Jimmy Neutron had Sheen, Spongebob had Patrick and Squidward.

I like how they introduced villains like The Fairy Hunter and Mandi.

At this point my personal headcanon is that this show ended at Wishology with no reset button and just leave it at that...

This show had like 4-5 different endings.

There was the movie where Crocker captured Wanda and Cosmo, and Timmy's parents "learned" to stop lying to Timmy, after finding out about his fairies and having those memories erased. There was a special where Timmy was supposed to lose his fairies but made Jorgen forget all about it with a "forget-me knob".

There was an episode where we find out Timmy secretly wished that everyone would would stop aging, and Jorgen was pissed about that.

There was Channel Chasers which had that despotic, bad future where Vicky ruled, and Timmy had to team up with his future self to stop it. This was probably the most conclusive ending the show ever got.

There was Jimmy/Timmy Power Hour 3 which seemed as fitting an ending for the series as anything, the two heroes uniting, defeating a common foe. Pretty sure Jimmy Neutron ended shortly after this crossover.

There was the live-action film, which ignored Channel Chasers but also made for a decent conclusion, Timmy keeping his fairies, growing up a bit - at least until the sequel came out, and then another sequel.

And then Wishology - I don't even remember how that ended, the Darkness turned good or something, Timmy was the chosen one, bleh.

There was an episode where Vicky finally got fired I somewhat remember, too, which was pretty much the reason Timmy got his fairies in the first place.

I honestly thought the show had ended with the first live-action movie.

[up] Nope. All that happened after the movie was the inclusion of a magic dog . . . now there is the implication that Sparky may have died between the events of the recent episode and that movie.

Don't know how exactly seeing that he is a fairy and all, and the injuries in this show are just too cartoonish for people to actually die for real.

I remember when that live action movie came out, my friend and I found it online to watch out of curiosity and we spent the entire time riffing on it. It was so bad, and I'm not sure why Drake Bell agreed to it. I'd say he has more dignity than that, but, then, he also got into a feud with Justin Bieber last year.

This show really feels like it's on life support. At least with Sponge bob kids still seem to care about it and older fans usually love the first 3 seasons. I never really hear that much about FOP anymore nor do I see any sort of merch for it any more. I rarely even see it in ads on Nick. Hell, I thought that this series was over sometime after introducing Sparky cause I never saw any ads for new episodes.

It's kind of like the Wii U of Nicktoons: Cool and creative back then, with a very moderate Fanbase when first shown, But soon became stale after awhile, but still being upgraded with new content just to keep it afloat.

Yeah but the Wii U is good. Certainly better then FOP nowadays.

Sure its not as big as X Bone but it's still pretty big.

Except the Wii U didn't have much controversy about its reveal the way the Xbone did.

And I'm sticking with Wii U this gen mostly because I'm far more a Nintendo guy and I don't care about Playstation and Xbox.

Xbone got controversy due to Microsoft being money grubbing morons. I could explain more but that would be way off topic.

Some of the stuff I read about what happened to Drake Bell after his own show back in the day is quite depressing. That guy has not been getting to much luck with casting...

I have plans to get an Xbone sometime this year cause of some games on it but I'm still a Wii U guy.

...This conversation has nothing to do with the topic at hand is better suited for something like PM so I should try rerailing the thread.

I don't get why this show feels like it should keep on adding new characters that don't get that much development. Like, since Poof they've added 5(4 not counting Chloe) new characters while it seems like like a lot of their other reoccurring characters have started to fade away. Some of the episodes I've seen with Sparky in them don't seem to have older side characters on as much beyond Timmy's parents and Crocker. And maybe Jorgen. I think one episode had AJ make a small appearance. However maybe I'm wrong and the others do show up in other episodes. I don't know. I rarely see this show nowadays.

[up]They have been doing that for a while. Important side characters in the past started to get sidelined and there personalities were derailing right around near when Sparky popped up. Poof is where it started but it wasn't as bad back then (It was mainly Cosmo and Wanda that were getting derailed then)

Basically FOP is pretty much undergoing the same thing Spongbob did for a while but instead of trying to rerail there characters they are shoving new ones in to see if something sticks.

Either which way the show is fading to obscurity. Which is sad to me as it was part of my childhood

Thanks to choices like that, he's now homeless. Or that was the rumor.

Not sure about homeless, but he is bankrupt, so I can't imagine he's too picky with the work he gets.

[up]Wait, who's bankrupt?

[up][up]Yeah, even though more modern Spongebob is probably worse, their are at least time where it's better then a lot of the more mediocre or flat out bad episodes. And at least recently it seems like they're trying to improve(From what I've heard one of the most recent episodes was really good).

FOP on the other hand, hasn't really stood out as much. Their are a few episodes that come to mind, a few good, a lot boring, bland, or downright bad. What really stands out is the fact they keep on trying to find ways to be new and fresh. Which really don't work. They feel unnecessary and don't add much to the show. Poof seem to have some episodes that focused on him, but after a while he just kind of stood in the background not really even speaking at times. Sparky really hasn't been that active in the show from what I've seen. You could probably replace him with either someone else or take him out of the episode. He's really pointless. Not even gonna comment on Anti-Sparky cause I never knew that was a thing till last night. Anti-Poof really feels like the only new character that's really done much and he's basically a Butt-Monkey version of when Stewie Griffin was an evil baby. I have a feeling Chloe will probably be sorta prominent after her first episode, then sorta be their but not really important to the plot.

At this point, I really think the show should be put out of it's misery, really. It's gone on for way too long and not many people care for it anymore. Including Nick itself. At least with Spongebob it still feels salvageable, even though it's gone on for a long time.

Wait, who's bankrupt?

Drake Bell. Well, that's what happened months back, so he could be getting back on his feet right now.

Anyways, Chloe is cute. That's all I can really say. Her personality though, it sucks superballs! We've all seen that girl character in toons that outdoes the males, is a total straight A student, and is admired by all co-eds. Folks, FOP is now becoming the American His And Her Circumstances. I do hope they put this show out with a bang after this season, but I also said the same thing during "Fairly Odd Summer", and look where we are tonight.

The troper page says that Drake also got injured and his body healed the damage incorrectly. It might be very much possible that he won't be able to play music ever again.

So yeah he got put through some shit after Drake And Josh....

[up]Really? That is her personality? Oh for fuck sakes. I can't put all of my hate for those type of characters (or the people who like them) into words. They might be able to play it right but it's doubtful since I have seen it done wrong way to many times to count. If it's played straight....well it won't end well.

He really hasn't had the best roles after D&J ended either.

Josh while still not having some of the best roles(Though he does do a good job as Casey in TMNT 2012), is still probably having it better then Drake.

[up]Drake's music has been pretty consistently good at least. His last album (Ready, Steady, Go!) was pretty great, though oddly nearly half of it consists of covers that don't really match up to the original songs. Hope he's recovered at least somewhat or learned to work through what happened, because it'd be a damn shame for him to not be able to play anymore. I really like his stuff a lot.

And Josh seems pretty content to be popular on Vine these days, so there's that.

Also, the Wii U is the only next-gen console right now with a good game library, jus' sayin'.

Anyway, where was anything said about the new character's personality? I haven't seen a thing about it anywhere.

[up]From what Nega said...she's pretty much a stereotypical overachiever girl that gets straight A's, everyone loves her etc.

Other then the fact that stereotype has been beaten to death and that it's incredibly obnoxious it just simply sounds like a really weird set-up for this show. The kids have to be miserable to get Fairies. How would a character like this not get Memory Blanked immediately is beyond me.

I am assuming they might go for other stereotypes to explain that. Butch Hartman goes overboard with stereotypical characters and it wouldn't surprise if he brought in more to explain why she would share Fairies with Timmy.

I hope I am wrong but considering how this show has gone with stupid stereotype characterizations (The Valentine's episode made me want to shoot a puppy when I saw it years ago) before....

But where did he get this information? Is there a source, or is he just pulling this assumption out of nowhere? And how can one even judge the quality of a character that one has not actually seen in action yet? Sure, you can assume the show might do a bad job, but the thing about assumptions is that, when it comes down to it, they're nothing but speculation barely based on anything.

[up]Perhaps, the problem is me in that sense. I have seen way to many characters like that end up being used poorly or as an Author Tract. I have seen the female overachiever characters way to many as well (and in the same ways) so my bias might be coloring my judgement of this one (if she is one). Something to point out is Butch Hartman uses a lot of stereotypes in regards to his characters. FOP initially seemed to be breaking away from it (by giving side characters like Trixie and possibly Vicky Hidden Depths amongst others) but it ended up going the other way as time went on. You see the same school stereotypes in Danny Phantom as well.

So that pretty much explains why I made assumptions there. I hope I get proved wrong in this case so this show can eventually go out with a bang but I haven't been proven wrong to many times before sadly...

As for where Nega got that info. I'll try to go validate it from sources....

Edit: Here's the main source. You can see where Nega drew his conclusions from the description of Chloe's personality.

The OP didn't include that in his post...

Yes, I saw that article too. All that's in it is marketing speak that shouldn't be taken seriously. Remember how Korra was first described in press releases before that show aired?

[up]I wasn't really a Korra fan so I am not familiar with that. I tried to watch the earlier episodes but her personality rubbed me the wrong way. I heard she got better later on but by that time I had no time to watch all the episodes due to being buried in college (AP) class work.

I was a fan of the original Avatar though. You could be right. It might just be marketing speak...

[up][up]Could be. But either it be marketing speak or the truth, it still won't solve the real problem with the show: The writing is trash now. Nothing else matters unless the writing is at least adequate.
