From what I've gathered, it's a family annihilation sparked by Dad's sex offender past (and present) catching up with him. An "I'm not going back to prison!" deal.

According to screen grabs of messages forwarded to KOKI in Tulsa, McFadden said he would not return to prison in a series of messages with a now 23-year-old woman he had allegedly groomed from prison.
In the messages, McFadden said he was having success at a marketing job and "making great money." His "great life" was now crumbling, he wrote, because of the soliciting and possessing images of child sex abuse charges.
"Now itβs all gone," he wrote. "I told you I wouldnβt go back."
"This is all on you for continuing this," he said.

Anyone else heard the story about the guy who killed a homeless man on the NYC subway? No charges have been filed yet, BTW.
Jordan Neely's death on Monday, which has been ruled a homicide, renewed conflicts about access to mental health and what some experts warn is an alarming increase in vigilante justice nationally.
According to authorities and witnesses, Neely and the former Marine, 24, got into a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical fight and ended with the man putting Neeley in a chokehold. Neely lost consciousness and never recovered, police said. Investigators interviewed the former Marine after Neely's death but did not detain him.
It feels like going to jail for a long fucking time, probably.

Where does this stereotype that "the left" likes crime come from? (I know "the right" is the group making this accusation, but I mean why do they have this idea?) I'm part of "the left" and I still think there need to be consequences for lawlessness. I was doing grocery shopping this morning and somebody brazenly shoplifted, and according to the clerk who was checking me out, this happens numerous times a day, which made my heart sink.
Like, I certainly don't think the prison industrial complex is a moral thing and creates more problems than it solves, and some harsh punishments don't fit the crime. And I get it, the store probably doesn't think it's worth it to pursue everyone who steals, and unless they have police stationed outside the store 24/7, it would be impossible and impractical to nab everybody who does this. But there needs to be some sort of deterrent and accountability to wrongdoing, and that much petty theft would almost certainly add up over time, and they'd have to increase prices which get passed along to those of us who actually buy the items in question.
Sorry, just venting. I don't have any easy answers to this. I just get sick of the accusation that the left "likes" or "tolerates" crime. It's just not true. And there has to be a happy medium between lawlessness and a omni-surveillance police state.

My best guess is that it is because opposition to unlimited police powers and police brutality also generally come from the left. For most on the right, especially those that subscribe to the "law and order are inherently tied together" axiom, Anarchy Is Chaos and chaos is inherently dog-eat-dog Hobbesian brutishness, thus there must be a law enforcement body who are able to punish wrongdoers without hindrance. Therefore, those that oppose such must be in favor of chaos and crime.
Mmm, not sure that we want to discuss general societal attitudes that are only indirectly about crime here.

Posting this here for now, but I got news of a shooting taking place in Rotterdam.
Some additional info on the shooting in Rotterdam:
The shooter fired shots in the neighbourhood where he lives, and later entered a teaching hospital where he was a student. Two people died, plus several wounded. The shooter was arrested soon after he set fire to the building. 32-year old male wearing "combat gear", including a bulletproof vest.
Shooter was previously convicted of animal cruelty in 2021.
Nothing yet about any motive. Fires are under control.

Yeah, that's kind of their job. Not one they have to do often, thankfully.
Some more info on the suspect and motives:
His name is Fouad L., and he is a known nutter getting in trouble with the law multiple times over "psychotic behaviour". He was a regular on 4Chan, and on his phone they found snuff footage of people getting killed by stabbing in addition to Nazi and other far-right material.
His first victim, a woman living next door to him, had filmed him while he was torturing a bunny in a drunken stupor and reported him to the police. Her fourteen-year old daughter was also killed. He also complained on 4Chan about his medical school and their attempts to "sabotage" him. This probably motivated his murder of the 43-year-old educator at the medical school.
He told his "brothers in Aspergers" on 4Chan that "The whole world hates us, death to all normies!"
I have to say, "far-right nutter" was pretty much the first thing I expected as soon as I heard about a student wearing a bullet-proof vest.

The suspect has been named as 60 year old Duane "Keffe D" Davis, a former gang leader within the South Side Compton Crips, one of the main organisers in the murder alongside his nephew, Orlando Anderson and apparently the only living suspect left in this tragic case.

The Last Podcast on the Left did a few episodes on the Biggie and Tupac murders do I'm familiar with Keefe D. Though I hadn't realized/remembered he was still alive, since ine thing I recalled was the hosts noting it wag known what happened/who did it but most of the principle players were already dead by the time it was clear. That and there wasn't a lot of interest in solving the case beyond stopping a lawsuit by Biggie's family.
