Even if that is a joke, we are not allowed to encourage illegal behavior on these threads.
Disgusted, but not surprisedNot sure where else to post this.
I saw a social media post from a page affiliated with comedian Mike Epps, complaining about Black on Black violence using Tupac's lyrics.
Not to sound sheltered or anything, but…Is complaining about intra-community strife somehow supposed to make everyone else feel better about the number of white people who have done other horrible things, and to our own respective people as well, no less?
Have we forgotten that the Antebellum and the Shoah were not that long ago? What about the residential schools where First Nations kids were ripped from the arms of their parents and forced into an unfamiliar religion? What about the ridiculous number of people who didn't have clean water because of crooked politicians?
The only reason that people are able exploit their own communities on a regular basis is that nobody in power cares about intra-community strife. It happened with Bernie Madoff and the swindling of American Jewry. It ALLEGEDLY happened with certain BLM officials who SUPPOSEDLY used the money for something other than what certain people thought was its intended purpose (I say "allegedly" and "supposedly" because I don't know if it's been proven).
Look, I understand that some Black people may resent the people who make the Black community look bad. I feel the same way every time a fellow Jew, or even someone who worships the same God I do if we don't share a religion, desecrates the name of God through their atrocities. I also realize that some people within their community want to bring a positive impact from within, and that's commendable. That said, we cannot ignore the fact that at least part of this mess is because many Free World politicians do not actually care about the little people.
Anyone who can stand up for themselves, should. If they can't stand up, others need to stand up for them.
Edit: This experience has also got me thinking about my own engagement in respectability politics regarding my own demographic, which is something I need to curb.

Rawr.I'm not familiar with the specifics you're referring to, but when I was younger I was frustrated that this type of thing was used as an appeal to worse problems, used to dismiss other problems faced by minorities.
Is the context that Mike Epp hates Tupac? I can't hold it against someone if they just want to take potshots at Tupac's criminal past. I don't hate Tupac, but he was... dodgy.
The Tupac Lyrics in question were about Black on Black violence.
The page was quoting those lyrics to complain about violence within the Black community in a "Stop Being Stereotypical" sense. I admittedly have a tendency to engage in respectability politics myself whenever I hear about a G-d worshipper committing a crime or otherwise besmirching G-d's name.
Admittedly, I was concerned that racists would use Black people complaining about intra-community violence as an excuse to be assholes.

Rawr.I tend to believe that assholes will always find a way to be assholes, it's a skill they hone throughout their lives
Admittedly, crime is often politicised in bad faith, so I see your point as well.
Man arrested at Scottish hospital last year is U.S. fugitive who faked his own death, court rules

Nicholas Rossi, 35, has spent over a year trying to convince authorities that he is Arthur Knight, an orphan from Ireland who has never been to the U.S.
But after hearing that the man's tattoos and fingerprints matched those of Rossi, Norman Mc Fadyen, a judge on the Edinburgh Sheriff Court, ruled that he was the man U.S. authorities were seeking.
“I am ultimately satisfied on the balance of probabilities, by the evidence of fingerprint, photographic and tattoo evidence, taken together, supported by the evidence of changes of name, that Mr. Knight is indeed Nicholas Rossi, the person sought for extradition by the United States,” Mc Fadyen said.
A full hearing on Rossi's extradition to the U.S. will now go ahead in Scotland in March.

Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianIn Virginia, a 6-year-old elementary student has been detained for shooting their teacher. The teacher is currently being treated for their life-threatening.
In a press conference Friday evening, city officials said the shooting was not accidental, that it happened in a first-grade classroom when a male student started arguing with a teacher and that the teacher's injuries were life-threatening. Everyone else in the school building — faculty, staff, and students — were safe.
The school was put on lockdown around 2 p.m. as police responded to reports of a shooting. Around 3 p.m., a spokesperson for Newport News police said there was no active shooter at the building on Tyner Drive. The school lockdown was lifted around 3:20 p.m., and officers were reuniting parents with their students at a reunification site.
Newport News Public Schools said in a Facebook post that the reunification site is the school's gym door. They said parents and guardians must present a picture ID to pick up their child.
Drew said police officers were collecting evidence and processing the scene inside the school.
He said the most important thing after the fact was getting students back with their parents and getting counselors in touch with students, making sure they were safe and could process what happened.
Newport News's new mayor, Phillip Jones, and members of city council and the city's school board also came out to the scene at the elementary school Friday.
"It's a dark day for Newport News," Jones said to reporters. "We're going to learn from this and we're going to come back stronger."
Jones stressed that the city's response to the shooting was a unified effort across police, city and school staff.
"The police did an amazing job, got here very, very quickly, along with the sheriff's office," he said. "We are ensuring that everyone is safe, we are ensuring that everyone is accounted for, they're going to be in the cafeteria right now, and people are being escorted out to their parents."
^Anybody is feeling emptiness at how far american gun crimes can go and nothing is done about it?

What the hell is going on there that a six-year-old just tried to commit murder? Especially against an adult rather than another child.
"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ CyranThat a kid attempted it or that a kid managed to get a gun, bring it to school, and succeed in shooting their teacher?
Because those make up a very concerning pair of circumstances.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. So, I just learned that somebody thought it was a good idea to make a freaking documentary about Casey Anthony. Aka, the woman who totally-not killed her daughter, blamed it on a non-existent black nanny and did her darndest to play the victim, unfortunately with success, as the Jury acquitted her.
Now my question is, aside from the obvious despicable thing of platforming a child killer over 10 years later to continue her pity party, isn't it illegal to profit off of a crime or something?

Though, on first glance, a documentary on her is just a standard True Crime thing. A documentary about her doesn't seem a problem in and of itself, unless she's directly involved in some way to profit.

IIRC she did make money off of the documentary. Apparently she works as a PI now, which sure is something.
Casey Anthony, P.I. Solving every case... but her own.
More seriously, a pathological liar like her in a position like that, I can only imagine. In The Last Podcast on the Left's series on her they discussed if she was a very good liar or a very bad one, as while she told some outrageous whoppers, such as guiding police through an office building she only claimed to work in until forced to admit she didn't when she dead ended herself, she also got away with the big lie of murdering her toddler.
LPotL's episodes on her if you wanna listen. You can learn about Casey Anthony and hear her mocked to hell and back.

More details on the six-year-old who shot his teacher:
- He has been described as "on the autism spectrum" and was on a plan that required a parent to stay with him in class. Neither parent accompanied him on the day of the shooting.
- Investigation has revealed that another student was shown the gun and threatened if he reported it.
- Despite this, reports from students and staff about a child with a gun in his pocket were made more than once prior to the classroom shooting. These were dismissed with comments like "little kids have little pockets" and "let's wait and see, the day's almost over" by adults in authority.
- The wounded teacher made sure her charges were safe before alerting school security.
I hope the child's parents are held responsible, and that the school staff gets a good shake-up over this.
The pessimist in me fears that good shake-up of school staff will be firing the teacher the was shot, despite it sounding like she did the right thing getting her kids to safety.
