There was that live action LILO and Stich film announced a year ago. But that probably won't be released for about another 5 years.
Still waiting for Live action Princess and Frog
New theme music also a boxThat would be another one that just ends up mostly CGI, to note.
I wouldn’t have minded a sequel to that, though. I always loved the world of that movie, and thought it could’ve been explored more.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Wouldn't be surprised if the fad died after Mulan, if the reports of reshoots and still the film isn't screening very well. A major bomb might kill it.
Just hate that it had to be Mulan.
There've already had a few live action remakes underperform, like the Pete's Dragon one and the Dumbo one. My guess is that if Mulan does too, Disney would keep make remakes, but mostly to Disney+.
I didn't even know Pete's Dragon was a remake...
Pete's Dragon is one of the few live action remakes that is superior to the original in my mind, because the villains in the original are stupid hicks that sing for far too long.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy. And Doc Terminus, who is awesome and songs just the right amount.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. The remakes have been doing as well relative to the popularity of the original. The most successful have been the equally successful Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King. Petes Dragon, Lady and the Tramp and Dumbo are known films but not as legendary.
Me personally, bring on The Sword in the Stone. Imagine Merlin's wizard duel with Madame Mim in live action.
I feel like Madam Mim is one of those characters who get tons popular spin-off media in Europe and maybe Latin America while being relatively obscure to the mainstream Disney fandom.
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)> Me personally, bring on The Sword in the Stone. Imagine Merlin's wizard duel with Madame Mim in live action.
Me too but somehow I can them completely changing it,I could them adapting once the next big King Arther craze comes around, but King Arther never really goes out of fashion so we'll see.I expect they'll fix the poor squirrel so she doesn't have her heart broken (or they completely forget about her and give Arthur a love interest like in the original material
New theme music also a boxI'd rather see a Time-Skipped live-action sequel to Sword in the Stone rather than a remake of it, to be honest.
Should we also count Christopher Robin for this or is it its own spin?
It just feels like a sequel to the original books, kind of like Hook with Peter Pan, or Doctor Sleep with The Shining somewhat.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.x4
It's never really in fashion either though. King Arthur and Robin Hood always have a similar problem when it comes to film and then end up flopping. I think one major problem is that they're always doing 'Arthur/Robin with A TWIST' but no one really knows the 'base' they're putting a twist on. I can't appreciate a historically accurate Robin Hood if I don't know the original to compare it to, for example.
King Arthur gets hit with this harder because, where Robin Hood kind of has a stricter "canon" to it, King Arthur has dozens and dozens of not only other versions, but incompatible versions with characters in entirely different places. Morgana-Merlin, Mordred, the disgust of adultry rubbing up against the cultural acceptance of courtly out-of-wed love. King Arthur has far less of a set 'canon' to it, very much like how Greek Myths can be all over the place when you get to individual stories.
Anyway, for me, no, I'm sick of remakes. I'm sick of reboots. I want some NEW classics. Yes, people tell the same stories over and over again for a reason as these fairy tales have been passed down. But there's such an oversaturation problem of THE SAME films being made two or three times within a ten year span. Meanwhile stories that could become classics in their own right are being ignored or being made and then set up to fail because the industry is too 'Established Property' obsessed.
At the very least, if you're going to do some of the fairy tales over, don't just remake them be RE-adapt them. Start from square one. Don't follow the original Disney film. Don't look at those designs. Don't use those names. Make your own thing and don't remind me of a different classic I'd much rather be watching.
Do something boring like Perseus or would it be seen as a ripoff of Herk?
Secret SignatureThat one did at least have Clash Of The Titans, I will say.

My Games & WritingI'd love a live-action Greek mythology movie or TV show based on the actual myths, but not from Disney.
Peace is the only battle worth waging.I remember the Hercules TV show was like that. Of course it was basically a high school AU version made for kids in the 90's, but there was an effort made, however small.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy. Not sure if this was mentioned already, but Disney is making Togo, a Disney+ original movie about, well, Togo.
Fuck. YES.
I always thought it was unfair Balto got a movie while he didn't, seeing how Togo played much bigger and tougher role in the serum delivery run, just because Balto finished the final run.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. For once, Disney has the most accurate interpretation.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Only problem I have with Disney + is going to be
region blocking
How much content will there be for those outside the US?Normally streaming services are severely limited to those outside North America
New theme music also a boxVPN is your friend. :)
We're not gonna see live action post-renaissance movies are we? As well as those "questionable" ones like Hercules, Pocahontas and Hunchback?
