What do you think was the funniest moment in Aladdin (2019)? It was the entire "Prince Ali rambles on about jams and spoons in his increasingly futile attempt to please Jasmine" scene. Especially this gem:
- Jasmine: And what do you hope to buy with this expensive?
Aladdin: You. No. No, no, no, no, no! A moment with you, a moment. That's not...
Jasmine: Are you suggesting I'm for sale?
Aladdin: Of course. (Beat) Not! Of course not! No!
I loved that scene. It might be the worst case of foot in mouth Iāve seen in a movie since āwhat else is there?ā from The Swan Princess.
Smaug wasnāt the result of a transformation. The idea Iām batting around is that the transformation sequence itself may have been difficult enough to animate believably in live action that they decided not to bother.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Except, we did have someone transform into a dragon in Maleficent. It just wasn't Maleficient.

I think it was her crow servant.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Huh just like Jafar's parrot, that is similar enough to be a pattern,i wonder why they're so averse to transformations of the main bad guy
New theme music also a boxYes, it was almost the 'exact same thing' they did with Jafar: giving the character's transformation to their pet/animal sidekick. Why?

I have one reason
It's a conscious decision on the filmaker's part, they wanted things to be different, everyone knows the villain change sizes but their pets changing their appearance is something unexpected
New theme music also a boxCGI creature to CGI creature is a little less tricky, Iād guess. Plus animals are a lot less likely to hit the Uncanny Valley.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Probably to do with dialogue delivery too, having someone else transform means they keep talking
New theme music also a boxThe new Cinderella had several animals turn into humans and vice versa.
right but they weren't related to the villain
New theme music also a boxYeah but the budget and means were there.
Also, Jafar DID talk as a snake in the original.
"A snake, am I? Why don't I ssssshow you how sssssssnake like I can be!"
"You ssssstay out of thissss!"
He's actually quite intimidating as a snake. I just dislike this trend of taking awesome disney villains and making them absolute shit.
Kaze ni Nare!I mean, I don't know about you guys, but if the same formula holds true for Ursula in The Little Mermaid, giant eels would be pretty badass actually.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Well Ursula doesn't actually transform into anything, she just gets bigger at least.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."She transforms into Not!Ariel too. =P
Kaze ni Nare!Maybe the filmmakers wanted Iago more involved somehow.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationI can tell you what the difference between Maleficent and Cinderella was.
The mice weren't expensive actresses that they spent a lot of money and time to put on screen.
Are they really planning a Cruella movie?
Secret SignatureAnd yet Iago felt less involved in the live action somehow. Like, in the animated film he was an active schemer and had a revenge going on.
Aww. Ursula prequel would be more interesting.
Unless they're planning that too.
Secret SignatureNah,a film about Ariel's mother is more likely
New theme music also a box
Wait Penguins? It's a really great watch. Dunno why it's seen as a "bad" film.
@Swanpride Turbo is mostly mediocre. Boss Baby actually is very substantial if you look past some of its jokes.
It's not just not wanting to be a snake. Jafar's magic is very... lackluster. Hell not just Jafar - Genie's too.
