Didn't Darkwing Duck already resurface on Duck Tales last year?

He had a cameo as an in-universe television show. Now he gets to be a "real" character. The latest Ducktales episode was practically his rebooted origin story.

[up][up]At this point, just make sure the Disney Plus versions are in 4k and people will be happy.

Though, I never even knew Monsters Inc or Finding Nemo were re-released. I remember Lion King (Never liked it enough to re-see it) and I did see Beauty and the Beast, but didn't know of the others.

Is it bad that I hate how little I ever see of 2D animation in an actual theater?

Well there hasn't been a 2D movie in theaters since...... Princess & the Frog lets say so I've pretty much accepted it after moving past hating it futility.

Pretty much the only 2D movies I see in theaters now are anime films.

Warner Bros. re-released "Space Jam" to theaters in 2016 for its 20th anniversary.

If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.

Ow, no one remembers Winnie The Pooh 2011. And I actually saw that film in theaters.

For bigger budget releases, there's also The Sponge Bob Movie Sponge Out Of Water, which is probably about 75% 2D animation.

So ... yeah there HAS been 2D theatrical movies since The Princess and the Frog but they're cut-out-style, digital animation, and based off of children's franchises.

I've wondered about fully 3D remakes, kind of like how Pixar's movies look,I'd actually prefer that to live action in all honesty

New theme music also a box

I'm talking about American animated films these days basically being 99% CGI except for any time they want to adapt a children's series. ... The Simpsons Movie being the sole exception, since that's an adult/family series.

Bluth has been eerily silent regarding the Dragon's Lair movie the past several months. Although he hinted at some "secret project" with Disney...

Probably because the animation he's doing for the movie takes an especially long time.

New Details Emerge on the Villain of Disney's Live-Action Mulan

We haven’t heard much about Disney and Niki Caro’s live-action Mulan for a while but thanks to an interview posted on Weibo with actress Gong Li, we now know a tiny bit more about the film’s villain, a witch named Xian Lang.

Although she didn’t get into spoilers or specifics, she did reveal what fans can expect from the character, saying (translated from Mandarin), “I’ve never played a villain but with this role — audiences will feel she’s a villain in the beginning but toward the end, they’ll see why.”

The actor went on to compare her character to the White Bone Spirit, a shapeshifting demoness from the classic Chinese novel, Journey to the West. Xian Lang is a powerful witch who, as Gong described, “can turn herself into a thousand eagles.” Clearly, Xian Lang — whose name roughly translates to “fairy wolf” — is a vastly different villain than Shan Yu. “There was no witch in the original,” Gong said, “there was a man but he wasn’t that important. [Xian Lang] will become important in this movie [...] audiences will understand why this character is the way she is, what she wants — they’ve handled the character very well.”

So, they're going with a supernatural villain?

I'm not particularly fond of that idea. Shan Yu's not the most interesting of Disney Villains, but his brutality brought things into perspective. With a warlord, you get to see the consequences of his actions and really raise the stakes if the heroes should fail. Having the villain be a witch really changes the type of story Mulan's about.

I don't know, maybe if Shan Yu was Gender Flipped, that might have been a more interesting take. Especially since the Hun were known to be pretty gender inclusive in their society.

Wait, are the Huns even the bad guys in this version? Is Mulan going to be fighting demons and the like? I mean, that sounds cool, but it's going to be weird if the animated film explored the consequences of war more than the live-action version.

On the one hand Mulan was criticized for Mushu and the ancestor spirits as it was Disney-fying what otherwise should be a historical epic, so having other supernatural elements may work in it's favor there. But Mushu can (and probably should) be removed entirely, or played up as a vague spirit guide rather than literal. What worked best with Mulan was definitely the more grounded elements of soldier training and fighting a war.

Shan Yu works exactly because he simply stands for war itself. He is not the most memorable villain, but he doesn't have to be, because what Mulan is fighting against is society itself. And her own shortcomings.

Who wants to bet that they will make the mistake of turning her into some sort of Tomboy who really hates the notion of getting married?

[up][up][up][up]What, why? Like... why? I understand that the Huns needed an update now that it is more widely known that the Huns were never supposed to be anywhere near the story to begin with, but you can't just swap out a brutal warlord for a sorceress and expect the tone of the core story to remain intact.

[up][up] Define witches. Woman who do magic, yes. I suspect that you would be hard pressed to find any culture which doesn't have some sort of evil magic female figure. because females are scaaaaaaary!!!!
