And all things considered, it should be a relatively cheap movie to make as far as video game adaptations go. As long as they're sensible with the budget I could easily see it coming in under the typical $100 million+ range that most 'big' movies see these days.
Horror movies aren't usually that expensive.
And with the sudden rise of purposely making your movie low budget to look more genuine, and they really gotta do is get the robots/suits and a building to film in.
It's gonna be an instant flop if they render the whole background in CGI though.
Try imagining how far the universe extends! Keep thinking about it until you go insane. Not if they aim for that 90's FMV quality.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Real Five Nights at Freddy's by Rooster Teeth.
Do we know who's playing the Purple Guy? Because I think it should be David Tennant.
are you implying jessica Jones should face springtrap?
So, three games and one Book come out, will the movie fit well the lore?
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I heard rumors about the movie being put on hold or cancelled.
Weird that the article claims that Sister Location is the most recent game. Maybe Pizzaria Simulator being Fnaf 6 being the "worst kept secret on the internet" isn't such a well-known secret after all.
Well, I've got my fingers crossed. Chris Columbus has a very wild track record, but sadly it leans more on the bad side then the good side. Here's hoping this joins the good side!
Speaking of Chris Columbus track record, something tells me this movie will be a Darker and Edgier version of Night at The Mueseum. Which actually make me wish that Robin Williams is voicing Foxy . . . fuck now I’m sad.
(pats BigK on the back)
We all miss Robin Williams.
Having seen Robin Williams act in Insomnia, I could actually see him playing the Killer.
Robin Williams as the Purple Guy. Well done. That is actually terrifying.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?I want Uncle Robbie back.
x2 For all we know he could of actually played all of the animatronics and Purple Guy since he is capable of pulling off different character traits. Kind of like James Mc Avoy in Split (who now that I mention is the second choice).
Maybe the focus will shift slightly from the "horror movie" to the "monster movie" tropes. I remain cautiously optimistic.
Necroing the thread because there's news on the movie

I’ve been working with Kira (my co-writer on the books) over the last several months working up a first draft for the movie script. As I mentioned in my interview with Dawko, many people have attempted (but none have succeeded) making something I was really happy with. It’s difficult to write a script for this. I even wrote two full scripts myself that were not great, but they had a lot of good elements which I was finally able to put to use in the most recent version. On that note, I’m happy to announce that the first draft of Five Nights at Freddy’s is finished! Jason Blum read it and thought it was great, although it will still need some work. The important thing, however, is that we've got a story! It will focus on the setting and events of the first game, while the second movie (if we get to make one) would be based on the second game, etc.
I’ve also been rolling around the idea in my head of going ahead and writing a draft for a second and third movie while everyone else is busy with the first, just to make sure that there is a solid story to be told, even if they never get made.
So, I’ll keep the movie news updated here:

I feel like by the time it comes out this movie is going to be four or five years too late.
Five Nights At Freddy's hit its popularity peak around 2014-2015 (i.e not long after it was first released) and has been on a steady path to the point of Deader Than Disco as its fanbase only grew more and more insular. It's already too late to release a film.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Flip side, a film may be just the thing to invigorate the fans and introduce more to the series.
Worst case scenario: Its a schlocky horror flick
Those can be fun

Personally, I'd keep it pretty clear what the plot is; i.e. Not have this 'solve the plot for yourselves' element because that probably won't go over well. Plus, I don't think the 'plot' is exactly what everyone is here for anyway.
Just keep the basic backstory (Purple Pedophile something or 'nother lures 5 kids into a backroom and kills them) and make the main portion of the film a Supernatural Slasher with Anamatronics and play with the expectations of a base audience and the game's audience to get your thrills. You'll do fine if you do it that way and not worry too much about all the convoluted 'What an Idiot' backstory there is.
