The trick is to not expand any world until you've already cleared out every non-expanded version. I know it's counter-intuitive, but it really is the simplest way to complete the game. If you expand each world as you find them, you are going to be befuddled.
Capital Cashino is my favorite part of the game, by the way. I know that's kind of a hot take, but it's the world with the most Banjo DNA, imo. I can't get enough of that Friendly Casino Banker.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?From a Banjo Kazooie throwback to a Donkey Kong Country one, its Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair.

Still waiting for a Legion of Losers movie...Looks fun. I still need to get YL 1 too. Hopefully we could get a bundle of some kind.

"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaThey'll probably let Wise do most of the sidescrolling stages and Kirkhope do the 3-D ones since this is apparently more of a Donkey Kong throwback and he's kind of famous for that one song he did there. iirc that's how YL's soundtrack was divided, but now that the stage type ratio has been inverted we'll get more of the former's music than the latter's.
Oh wow this is cool.
I really like the idea that Yooka-Laylee is going for existing as a Throwback Franchise.
It makes it feel more unique.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobEarly concept art for the pair had Yooka as a Tiger, but they decided not to have him be a tiger, because it didn't read as "underdog." If they're making a bunch of Yooka-Laylee stuff, I'd like to see a tiger/owl duo that act as antagonists in one game. Why owl? Because owls eat bats.

Impossible Lair comes out in two weeks. I'm pretty excited!
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
I'm awaiting general reviews before picking up, but in terms of what I've seen it looks like a solid 2D platformer, especially given that there's no apparently new DKC title on horizon.
Still waiting for a Legion of Losers movie...Initial reviews have been pretty strong and given that the wait for the next DKC might be who knows how long, I'll definitely be picking it up.
Still waiting for a Legion of Losers movie...Nice! I can't wait for this.
A great Mascot Mook.I didn't even know this was a thing and now its a thing I'm excited about it.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersColor my surprised. I'll be keeping an eye on this.
In this game you can go to the final level right away, but you stand a better chance if you play the rest of the game and rescue some bees that will give you extra hit points in the final dungeon. I saw a clip where you could take like thirty hits. Breath of the Wild also did this. I was going to say this might be a new trend, but my brother pointed out you could fight Lavos early in Chrono Trigger. Are there any other examples any of you can think of where you can fight the final boss right at the start of the game?
It's not at the start, but kind of like Chrono Trigger where you have to wait a short while but can take the final level on shortly into the game, Demon's Crest lets you go kill the final boss long before he's ready for you. But that one's pretty old.
I knew this game would be good. It's my lucky day, too, since I got an email from Nintendo saying my Joy-cons are on their way back. Can't wait to take Impossible Lair for a spin!
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Now you know there is going to be some crazy gamer who can record and put up a Youtube video of beating the impossible level without getting hurt straight from the get-go.
There's probably going to be an achievement for it.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHonestly, I think review-bombs by angry JonTron fans are half the reason the original Yooka-Laylee has such a bad rep. That and Jim Sterling's obvious troll review. (Not to suggest that Jim can't sincerely dislike the game, but a 2/10 is nucking futs for a game that works exactly as advertised.) It may not be great, but it really isn't half bad either.
But I'm really delighted Impossible Lair is getting such good press. There are so many talented people at Playtonic and it's really about time their company had a reputation beyond "The Western indie devs that didn't make Shovel Knight."
I'm currently watching this:
Hyle Russell and Mitchell Wolfe of DK Vine say Impossible Lair is the closest we've got to a proper Donkey Kong Country 4 by Rare. They say the overworld in particular feels like a natural evolution of the free-roaming nonlinear map screens from DKC3.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?The original game was flawed because it tried to recapture the success of the original Banjo Kazooie without fully realizing what exactly made said game good in the first place or the fact that times have changed and so have player expectations. There is a reason the collect-a-thon games died out as a genre.

Disgusted, but not surprisedIt wasn't really the collect-a-thon aspect that killed my interest in the first YL, it was the map design. Somehow it felt like it was missing some spark, or felt patchwork in a bad way, or something - which makes sense when you consider that a lot of the extra level elements were Kickstarter stretch goals.
It's been fun.
I didn't like World 5 that much, but 4 was great.
A great Mascot Mook.
